      i own a nissan rogue 2014 is only blowing air to the defrost vents is not blowing any air to the front dash vents, do i need to replace that same one you replaced on that video or the yellow one next to it ???

    • @HammerWrench
      @HammerWrench  6 місяців тому +1

      @ismaelrodriguez4739 the one I repaired only adjusts the hot and cold. It may be the one above or there is another one on the passenger side. If you take off the stepper motor, try to turn the white hex hub with your finger with the fan on low. If it adjusts the vent then that’s the one. Then check to see if the motor stob moves when you turn the vent dial on the AC control. If it works, it may be the hex hub is cracked. Try some of the repairs featured in the comments. There are a few good ones.

      That’s awesome Cliff. There are 3 stepper motors in these systems. One for the temp, one for the diverter( floor, windshield, main vents), and the fresh recirculating air. If you have individual temp control, there may be a fourth for the passenger side temp. Check out the linked video in the description in case it is not the motor. Could be a cracked blend door drive bore. Good luck. Let me know if you solve it.

      @@billbinder4953 have you verified that the fan is working? It is accessed from the passenger side. If you are getting zero air flow and can not hear the fan blowing, start there. If the fan is blowing, then pull off the other stepper motor that controls the zone direction. If it is dual zone, there will be two of them I believe.

      3-Turn white blend door (circle) hub with your finger until heat comes out the vent.

    Thanks for the video. Would the same be true if the a/c does not blow cold air and the compressor is good and freon is full? There are times when the air "appears" cooler (but still warm as if a/c isn't turned on) when recirc is pressed. Mechanic said compressor was bad so it was replaced and no improvement. Then he replace solar sensor, no improvement. Haven't tried the heat since it's been hot outside.

    • @HammerWrench
      @HammerWrench  10 місяців тому +2

      You’re welcome! I didn’t replace the other side since the vent door motor still functions properly. If you want to knock it out in one punch then that’s a great idea. In this situation, the stepper motor still worked and it was the blend door hex socket that had been stripped. I had to use hot glue but may need epoxy to securely fasten and take up slack in the hole. Make sure the door is manually clocked to the setting the AC calls for, before reinstalling. You can twist with your finger tip while the AC is on.

    • @tomstrickland4686
      @tomstrickland4686 10 місяців тому +1

      Wow, that was a fast reply. I'm still not sure which way to turn the motor to match the settings on the heater. Also now I'm thinking after seeing you second video is to check that part you clued first before ordering the motor. If I get the motor out, but leave it plugged in still. How should the motor function if working properly? Thinking of testing it first and see about that socket.

    • @HammerWrench
      @HammerWrench  10 місяців тому +1

      @tomstrickland4686 I’m here to be helpful. Take the motor off. Start the car and adjust the temp and see if the little knob turns. If it does, the stepper motor is good. Look into the white hex socket and if you see cracks or signs of the motor stub stripping it, then that’s your issue. Now for clocking the blend door, if your AC is calling for heat while the engine is running, put your hand in front of the vent. If u feel heat then the position is correct. If you feel cool or cold, put your finger in/on the white hex nut and twist. The fan speed should make the blend door move easier. Check the vent for heat. If it is not correct, then leave the car running while you make the repair. The fan will hold the door position. If you turn it off it will fall into the middle or cold position.

    Beginner here! A bit confused on the part where you pause and say to turn the circle to make sure the flaps move. What flaps? Also are you saying the split in the white part should be facing straight up towards the dashboard?

    • @HammerWrench
      @HammerWrench  Рік тому +1

      The split is a crack. The flap is inside the black enclosure. When you put the heat on and you have the motor plugged in but not mounted, you turn the circle to make sure heat comes out the vents. When it does the motor also turns the proper direction. Then put the motor back and it should be good and functional. If the motor works before doing any of that, look for my other video showing how to glue the motor into the circle. The motor can strip the inside and let it slip and not turn the circle. ua-cam.com/video/XBImdJYSBMo/v-deo.html

    What it you have heat coming out of the passenger side but not the driver's side?

    • @HammerWrench
      @HammerWrench  10 місяців тому +1

      If the thermostat is on heat, it’s the drivers side motor that’s malfunctioning. If it’s on cool, it’s the passenger side. Before you order parts, verify which side isnt working then pull that motor and adjust the temp and see if the motor shaft moves. If it does, then it’s the blend door socket that may have stripped. You can use hot glue or epoxy in the socket and replace the motor. Before you do, you may have to manually turn the blend door socket with your finger to whatever temp the AC is calling for. If you don’t, the motor will strip in the socket when the door binds from being in the wrong position.

      I don’t own it so I am not sure. I do know the drive of the motor was spinning inside the bore(white part) of the blend door. The cracks allowed it to do that. That is possible. To verify, turn your engine on and your AC on and listen to see if the compressor is engaging. Also see if both fans are running. If they are, your stepper motor may have it stuck on heat. When you take the little motor out per the video, leave the plug in it. While turning the temperature dial, watch the little black nub to see if it spins. If it doesn’t then it’s bad. @@RamSahuri sounds like your motor works and your blend door drive is cracked. It lets the motor spin inside its bore and not let it move. You can turn the white bore with your finger. To know which is hot or cold, run the air and turn it. What ever temp comes out, you’ll know what direction the door needs to go. Then plug in the motor and see that it turns towards the direction that the temp is set at. Then make sure the door is at that direction as well. Leave the air on max so it will hold the door in position while you put the motor back in place.

      You have to make sure the door position is set at the same as the motor before installing the motor. Use your finger to manually move the door at the white hex socket to the temp the AC is calling for. Have the motor wire plugged in and see that the drive spins to the correct position before installing. If all that fails, your drive socket is probably stripped and may need to epoxy the motor drive to the socket.
