Onam rituals and customs in Kerala ഓണം ആചരിക്കേണ്ടത് എങ്ങനെ? അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾ എന്തൊക്കെ ?

Onam is a National festival of Kerala and was celebrated by Kerala people with its own rituals and customs. Onam rituals and customs are entirely different than any one, and was followed by people in mid and north Kerala. ഓണം, ആചാരങ്ങൾ, അനുഷ്ടാനങ്ങൾ, ഐതിഹ്യം
Pookkalam, Onakkodi,Onasadya,Onakkalikal are also important other than rituals and customs when we celebrate Onam.
Mahabali chakravarthy is supposed to visit his subjects on every onam ( Thiruvonam nal of month Chingam in Malayalam calendar).
We welcome him and his followers, treat them well, give offerings to make him happy.
Lord Mahavishnu also present in that occasion in our home. We give offerings offerings to Ganapathi ( Lord Vighnesh or Ganesh) ,Saraswathy ( Lord of knowledge ) Shiva, Mahavishnu and Mahabali in a similar way in that occasion.
Onam feast is called as Onasadhya in Malayalam is famous for richness . Plenty of curries which is good to health is used in it along with different types of Payasam and Pradhaman.
