A boomerangs given by a pacific islander really
Piri Weepu is my favorite. Specially during 2011 World Cup. What a strong voice he had.
I can still hear Kapa O Pango from the final, I'll never forget his commanding voice and deliberate cadence
Couldn’t agree more, he was the very best in my opinion
Piri was definitely the best ive seen! Spine tingling even as a Kiwi.
His energy is unparalleled
Yes he's a Te Aute School Boy their an Anglican Maori School 🏫 Sir Apirana Ngata attended there as well they have a history of excellence for education & rugby.
I have absolutely no Maori heritage but the Haka awakens the beast inside I swear
Are u from New Zealand.
Tana Umaga leading the first kapa o pango makes me feel like I could run through a brick wall. Like I could fight a dragon and win.
I'm a proud Englishman but whenever I see the Haka performed by the NZ All Blacks it sends a shiver down my spine - superb stuff
There's something about Maori that brings out that primal instinct during the haka. Like a team that's ready for war.
I remember seeing the first Kapa o Pango lead by Tana when I was 15years old and it blew my mind. It was all anyone was talking about school for the next week. In my opinion the best Kapa o Ponga ever.
Tana's wasn't my favourite but it certainly was the best
UMaga was like a reincarnation of an actual warrior bro 😂
Tana's my favourite, elite team there
The most chills I ever got was when Tana lead it against the Boks. I was in varsity, early morning for us. We knew it was on by the end of it. Silence from everyone, others woke up at that moment. The game was amazing as well.
TJ and That Haka was Crazy Energy 🔥🔥🔥
TJ Perenara and that vicious slap rule supreme
As much as I'm not new zealand. I will always have respect for the haka
I’m American and I’ve always admired the Haka dance. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen and it’s amazing how this old tradition continues to survive. And how all the people take it so so so so seriously. I mean they seem to have so much respect for it and it’s amazing. I have so many questions!
1. What does the sticking out the tongue mean? I’ve seen in so many times, it’s gotta mean something.
2. What language is that? It sounds so cool.
3. This was an ancient war cry right? So what happened then? Like does this happen to prepare for war or right before the war like to scare enemies or something?
4. Does each movement mean something? I mean they all look amazing together!
2) Maōri. The Indigenous Language Of Aotearoa (New Zealand)
3) The Haka Is Usually Done For All Sorts Of Events. Eg Weddings,Funerals, Birthdays Etc. In Terms Of The All Blacks Its To Lay Down A Challenge To The Opposition While Displaying Their Culture.
4) I Don't Know All Of Them But I Know A Few. The Ground Motion Represents Returning To The Earth. "Be One With The Land". The Lifting Of The Hands Means Lifting To The Heavens. "Our Dominance, Our Superiority Will Reing And It Will Be Lifted To The Heavens." The Slashing Motion At The End Means A Transfer Of Energy.
I may be able to answer the tongue question! I’ve seen other comments saying it is a display of dominance and meant to instill fear. Another comment I saw said it essentially says “we will defeat you and then we will eat you” (although I’m 99.9% positive the maori didn’t eat anyone lol)
Something about Messams voice gives me goosebumps. Like a king who leads from the fronline
Umaga y Perenara son los Kaeas que más energía transmitían🙌❤️🤟💪
Rico Gear is the absolute goat at haka in rugby, no one comes close to him, he knows the Reo, knows how to lead a proper haka, can pronounce the words and has that extra mana
🙏🖤✨They beat the opposition even before the match starts 🖤✌️✌️✌️💪
Amazing and beautiful ! I've chills when I heard this.
A long time ago there was a U19 championship and the Haka leader took of his shirt and jumped in front of the rest of the team.
Piri weepu is the best, that is absolutely savage showing the boys are going to war, new Zealand 🇳🇿 ✌️❤✌️ best
All blacks makes rugby looks Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Hail from South Africa ,Great respect, Amabokoboko
Crazy both Gear brothers should be on here
Liam, Piri, Umanga. ☝🏽 ngā tino toa kaihaka 🙌🏾🙌🏾 My favorites to watch lead the AB haka. Always exhilarating. But some of my very favs to watch perform the haka are Ali Williams and in these later years, Ardie Savea & Rico Ioane. Te ihi me te mana (The power & authority) that these men demand when they haka is fire!!! 🖤🤍
weepu for voice, tana for appearance
Love it... such a powerful❤❤All respect to the Haka.
Weepu was the best haka leader ever
I wonder if Reiko will be leading the next haka.
I reckon Ardie will do it
American here. Love the Haka. I noticed that each one was slightly different. Does that represent different Tribes? Or is that something the team decides on? I find it fascinating how an ancient ritual like this has survived for so long, and is now used in sporting events in the modern times.
There are two main ones - Ka Mate and Kapa o Pango. Ka Mate is a Haka of the Ngāti Toa tribe which was used by the all blacks for 100 years. Its origins are from Ngāti Toa and not the whole of Aotearoa (New Zealand) and how commercial it has become has been seen as too far, particularly as Ngāti Toa represent only a section of Māori people.
Kapa o Pango was written specifically for the All Blacks and was first used in the 2000’s. It means “team in black” and is seen by some (including myself) as a Haka more representative of New Zealand as a whole.
I believe there are tribal differences to how the Haka is presented based on history and tradition though, not too sure what those are.
Note: I am not tangata whenua Māori (Māori person). I am a first gen immigrant with South African New Zealand ancestry but have called New Zealand home for 21 years now (I’m 26). So what I say is based of my most likely flawed knowledge of Te Ao Māori. It’s a very special culture which I am continuously learning more about. You should come visit and experience it for yourself.
Awesome Brother's
Piri for me. By no means qualified here but we were taught at high school to keep it slow with strong actions. Piri nailed that in 2011 and it struck that spirituality, fear and motivation into my heart. Think the crowd being Kiwi helped with the overall atmosphere.
Honourable mention goes to Messam. Got those Tuakana vibes about him - amazing leader for AB’s, Sevens and Chiefs over the years
No one respects the haka more than we do here in Australia, such an incredible sight to behold but Piri definitely gotta be my favourite
Piri, best on this list. Personally the Black Ferns do it best ,more passionate from everyone of the Squad, spirit animal level. Loved the boomerang respect too.🇳🇿
❤❤ from Boroland. 🙏
Liam Messam and Tana umaga sound pretty similar with that raspiness in their voices
TJ PERENARA LEED THE HAKA BRILLIANT
If I'm gonna die in battle, Tana or Piri would get me ready for it. Either one works for me😂
Wheres Hosea Gear. One of the all time great haka leaders
So many great haka leaders across All Blacks history. Perhaps we need a part two?
@@AllBlacks yes, we need to see Hosea
@@AllBlacksim sure all blacks fans would love a part two, especially featuring some of the less known names who have lead.
@@AllBlacksHosea for sure 👍
Tana‼14 is Rico he smacks like that right? The heavens felt that & I bet we lost that one l😅l
Piri Weepu is my favourite Kaea. My favourite haka is the "Ka mate" which means "one will die"!
Umaga is the best
I like the haka... their culture, a passionate retual.❤

Tana Umaga
Let me break it down….Tana lead the greatest haka of all time. Piris the best leader
Umaga has the heart , TJ has the spirit , but Piri has the soul of The Haka
Piri Wepu❤🌺💕🙋🏻🇧🇷
Don't know about you folks, but I never want to bump into Kieran Read on a dark night!!! Or a light one for that matter! The man's a Unit!!

Was Ireland in here? But I don’t think there was Ireland in here. But the green team one of them was kind of like laughing. He needs to respect the haka. Love NZ ❤
Tj is the best ♥️
As the years go by, the haka got more and more intimidating
Byron Gallagher though😂😂😂
Oh gawd... He was like a baby bird trying to fly for the first time
@@CM-pb9mj 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ali and Byron for the participation award
a strong leader with the kapa o pango feels too powerful
Boks live rent free in your minds 🇿🇦 Most of these are against the Boks. Love the AB’s tho. Let it go, try 2027 again❤
Probably more a sign of mutual respect than anything
Weepi the best
No taine Randall??
❤🫳⚡️❤
RICO GEAR kapa o pango was better
Tj hands dowm the worst haka leader ever, bro was so stiff and pretty much screamed the words
Imagine doing all this still ending up loosing to kangaroos..
I would make my husband do this every night before bed. 😘
