How it started: low price + huge catlog How it's going: high price + reduced catalog People aren't made of money. If companies don't realize that people want a single platform where they can watch pretty much everything, then piracy will slowly start growing again.
They realize it perfectly, and everyone want to be the "only one"; and if you make your show exclusive, the others can't be it. The results is 20 streaming services with exclusive contents...
I believe that in 10 years, all that will be left of Netflix will be the verb "Netflix and Chill", which will then be used universally for all streaming providers.

Netflix stupid move was to push what THEY consider "good" content and dismiss their customers. "Cuties" the Dave Chapelle drama are just examples of the mentality of their executives.

Dave Chapelle specials are some of the best content on Netflix. I'm pretty sure Chapelle shows are still giving Netflix way more subs than people cancel because of him.
By "cracking down on password sharing" they were hoping I would sign up for my own account and give them my money. Instead it just made me say "fuck them" all together. Now they've lost all chances of me ever signing up for my own account in the future. 😊
If they stopped trying to make everything political and focused on making really good shows and NOT CANCELING THE BEST SHOWS AFTER 2 SEASONS then people would accept the higher costs. That doesn't address them trying to stop us sharing passwords tho, that pissed off literally every customer
Unfortunately there biggest investors are forcing them to conform to something called an esg rating which means if they don't go out of there way make things as politically correct as possible they might lose funding. 😕

There are so many genres of movies available: sci-fi, comedy, rom-com, fantasy etc. It is weird if all their movies are soley from one genre: politics. Netflix's problem isn't money or that the content library sucks. actual Netflix viewers will agree that the actual problem with Netflix is Netkill, which is basically a term for Netflix Cancelling it's own shows, that too some of the best shows. Example THE OA, people protested against it outside it's headquarters, imagine the power of their IP. But they cancelled their own IP for apparently no reason, and kept giving away money to WB and Disney for their IPs which are now being pulled out. Imagine Disney discontinuing Marvel and Starwars shows and paying WB to stream HBO shows, that's what Netflix is doing. Just like Blockbuster failed to make transition from an offline rental to online streaming/rental, Netflix is now failing to transition from a streaming service to a production house.

Content is king, if I want to watch show X I will pay as long as I can watch show X and not whatever other crap is cheaper for them to produce/license. Same thing for Spotify, I pay for music, if Spotify prefer to show me crappy podcasts then I leave them and pay other services for music
With music it's mostly very different. It's not like music record label A is only on Apple music. And label B only on Tidal. Most labels are available on all of them. So you simply choose one and be done.
I think the lockdown on PW sharing is the why. Me and my sisters share PW for our streaming service. Each of pay for 1-2 services then share the password This helps all of us by reducing our entertainment costs but giving us a broad range of options.
You are already entitled the the watch hours. . So even with 1 screen, you pay for 24 watch hours per day, no more no less. @@pgplaysvidya It's nearly impossible to buy rights to any piece of IP since the rightholders make so much money from licensing. I think there should be regulation for streaming services which ensures that shows aren't available at only one streaming service. I want to be able to pick a platform for their price, service, and quality.
