I just got this in read. It's so versatile . It's heavy enough to feel it's made well. It came flawless. And what sticks out and took me a while to notice this is how good it sounds in a song. It comes through in a mix so good. I play covers in a band all over southern Cal. We play every kind of music and this guitar sounds great in all of them. I don't even pick up my Tele now. I never played one because I'm a lefty and there's not any available to go and just pick up to try, but I almost bought one used for $300 or $400 a month or so ago online.. I've never heard one on a video either that sounds like it's dead, but the schecter ones are another story. And many of these guys seemed to have had them setup well too. @@dustindavis3348 I stays in tune pretty well. Not as good as a hard tail would of course. I did put Hipshot locking tuning keys on mine. I did this mostly for ease of string changes, not because of tuning stability issues. It does come stock with Grover (non-locking) tuning keys, a Graph Tech Tusq nut and a roller bridge. All of that is great and contributes to the stability. If you use the Bigsby for light vibrato (as it was intended) tuning is not much of an issue. I do, on a few songs, do some more exreme bending with the Bigsby, like dropping the bar all the way down to the body. I will touch up the tuning after finishing the song when I do that. Generally a string or two is off somewhat, but not far enough for the tuner to think it's a different note. Just slightly flat or sharp. Usually flat, and often a quick tug up on the bar will put it back to where it needs to be. It's never gone out of tune far enough to delay a show so I could tune. My backup guitar is in drop-D and I will use that for those songs so I don't have to change tunings between songs, just swap guitars. The Schecter is still my number one guitar and I don't feel the tuning stability is an issue at all.
I own two Schecters, a bass and a 12-string guitar. Schecter is, hands down, the BEST mass manufacturer for intermediate priced instruments out there. Especially the stuff made in South Korea.
Just ordered this guitar because of your video! I’ve been looking for a good T style with a bigsby and humbuckers for a while. Thank you Darrell. Your content is truly top notch quality!
@@ChuckEldon I love it! It’s honestly really specked out, especially for the price. It has a lot of really high-end hardware. You can tell the Schecter really had the player in mind when they made this guitar. Great tones, really comfortable to play. Darrell is probably what is known in the jargon an "influencer" on social media and is probably getting a lot of guitars for free. Read other comments here and you will see that others have bought this guitar after this video.
This is the exact same Schecter that I own; my very first Schecter out of 4 as a matter of fact! To me, this guitar looks like a guitar that you would see being played on stage in the 1950s! What a great guitar indeed! I hope that you keep this one Darrell, you won't regret it!
Do you find that the coil split tones have enough oomph compared to humbuckers mode? In the other videos I've seen, the coil split sounds seemed very weak.
Paint in truss rod pocket, now that's finish! Plus green, yeah! Really liking all these Schecters you're reviewing Darrell, especially the Tele variations.
If it is a Schecter then I will buy it. 🤗😎👍 I Would love to have a carbon black with a Wilkinson Tremolo, only have other options on finish colours and tremolo option other than fixed bridges, so I got the Schecter Exotic that has mostly the same features as the Schecter CR6 Aurora Burst that came out after I had already bought the CR6 in the Brown Burst. All three of these guitars have carbon fiber and double action truss rods in the necks. Extra Neck Stability and Sustain. I'm still getting used to the Reverse Headstock. Some of these music gear companies need more finish and hardware options, but that's just IMHO ! ! ! 😎🎸🤘👍 DDH 4-26-2020.
Holy Smokes! The Nick Johnston Diamond Series is SO AMAZING at the price point ($799ish). Now add this to the mix? Schecter is crushing it right now. Of course there will be a lemon or a rough edge every now and then, as there always will be at this level of production guitar, but these are reminding me a lot of the Yamahas when it comes to quality at a price point. Great video. $599 new on Reverb right now!
Nice to see that a manufacturer has realised that a roller bridge makes a Bigsby so much easier to keep in tune. It seems like a guitar spec that I would aim for as the result of a modding project, but in this case all the mods have been applied at the factory. Pretty much the only thing to add is strap locks.
After watching this video. I purchased this exact guitar. It is now my go to guitar. It just sounds great. My only recommendation is to get Hipshot staggered locking tuners. The pick ups sound fantastic and I wouldn’t recommend replacing them. They are wide range the sound great clean, they sound great distorted. I have owned a dozen T style guitars. This is by far my favorite. Everyone that has played it live has loved it. I run an open mic and have let several high talented and experienced players play it. They all loved it. Thank you very much for creating this video.

@@brendangray i love it! very versatile, its light weight and looks beautiful, still fine tuning tone, but so far so good...Bigsby is great too! i mostly play at my church
I bought one of these years ago. So well made, rounded over edges, all the comfort contours of a strat, beautifully finished, all just really nice and plays nicely to boot. There is only one thing and it's a big negative for me that I hate though, and turns me off taking it off the wall, and that is, it weighs a ton. If you don't mind heavier guitars and lower output humbuckers (just turn up the amp volume), then this is a very good guitar in my opinion also.
My experience in hearing other vids of this guitar is that there is a big drop off in decibels when you switch to the coil split tones. Thus I never got one. This is true of most coil split guitars other than PRS in my experience. Did you feel this way about the coil splits?
@@nazmoking3171 Yes, you lose significant volume when you coil split, just kick on a clean boost pedal to resolve. What's good though, in the middle position, you can split one pick-up and get a strat like tone, Premier Guitar did a review some years back check it out in this regard. And I agree with your PRS experience, I have a PRS s2 Custom 24 and it has the best coil split that I've experienced , but hey, it costs a lot more. The PRS is the only guitar I actually use the coil split, if I want a single coil tone I just pick up my Tele or Yamaha 502T.
Nice review of the Schecter T-style guitar Darrell. I bought their C6 Deluxe about a month ago and it too was setup very nicely and plays/sounds really good. At $300 I couldn't be more pleased. Next on the list is their PT Special in the Sunburst. I wish that model came in the jade green. That's such a beautiful color. I seriously enjoy hearing you play any guitar you pick up. You have an awesome talent Darrel. I appreciate you sharing your newest acquisition. Hopefully you'll play it again in a video and really put the Bigsby to the test . Take care .
Looks great - love that green sparkle, and the matching headstock. Sounds good, too. Interesting mechanical bits, too - the roller bridge for one. I rarely use a trem, and I've never had a guitar with a Bigsby (weight is always an issue for me), but they always look interesting. I agree about the vintage vibe. Nicely done, Darrell!
Forearm contour + binding... that takes some epic carpentry. Not seen that before. Love the colour too - like Steve McQueens Mustang GT in Bullitt. I'll just go find a cash machine.
Just ordered one. Selling my Tele for this. I bought the 3 way switch from your other video and couldn't get it wired properly. This will solve all those needs and no messing with a switch. This guitar is beautiful and it's tele enough for me.
I would love to see a comparison between the fastback and the PRS SE! Thank you for giving us a nice overview of the features, sound and construction of this gorgeous guitar!
This is my guitar!! It's also my first one. I got it for myself last Christmas and I'm so happy with it!!! I'm just a beginner though so haven't really gotten the same sound on it as you Darrell. 😅
Darrell, great channel, finally subbed. Two minor gripes, and this goes for every other guitar review channel 1) can you please give a description of the neck SIZE? Something comparable to what you believe it is closest to in Fender terms (early 60s standard C, thinner C, early 50s fat D or U. Maybe even compared to PRS pattern necks (wide thin, regular, wide fat etc?) Nut width, actual and string to string would be helpful. 2) Weight, like exact weight. I know guitars will vary but it's important to many. Thx!
I have the same one! I usually switch out pups on guitars, but I cant seem to find a good reason to with this one. Only thing that turns me off, is that the poles are cosmetic, and can't be adjusted. Still though, it sounds great no matter what I'm playing. Best $550 I spent!!
@@dustindavis3348 Not bad at all. It has Grover tuners, but if you're really picky, you'd want to replace them with locking Sperziels or the equivalent.
Truth be told I have never been a fan of T style guitars & thanks to your Mr Durrell sir, They are starting to grow on me & this one you just reviewed here, Love it.
Watched the video, and then bought the guitar. And WOW, it's just as good as you said, and the sound is amazing for what I was looking for! It is not a shred guitar, but has more of a classic guitar tone. Great for clean jazz, classic rock, and church music. Mine also seems to have a lot of thick mids and lows, at least more than I expected. So, I turn up the treble on the amp, and it's the exact thick low break-up tone I wanted. I have several guitars that cost much more than this, and I put the fastback head to head with a couple Gibsons, Fenders, and PRSs and the Schector was more of what I was looking for, not to mention the fit and finish of the Schector easily beat the Gibsons. I still love a good LP, but, we all know the fit and finish issues. I'm extremely pleased with the Fastback. At this price, I may buy another one as a gift to my son, because he won't leave mine alone. Thank you for the video which gave me the confidence to try a brand I was not as familiar with.
As a TeleBastard, I really like this machine...and the price ($600-700? I think a commenter said it was) is in the affordable range. Super review, as always, Darrell. The hard edge of Teles is my one complaint, so I'm glad to see the forearm contour. And where is your 1-minute jam at the end? Did I nod off and miss it? Always look forward to the Canadian riffing at the end of your reviews.
Darrell, I really like the Schecte PT Teles. I will not buy a guitar with less than a 42mm nut width and I prefer a 43mm nut width. What is the nut width on the Tele you demoed in this video ? ? ? I have just never been into Bigsby, even though I have had guitars that came with them on them but I removed them and modded to a Stetsbar or routed the body for use of a different type and model of tremolo system such as a Wilkinson or other type. I love Schecter guitars man and I have been looking at this guitar, "The Lady In Red" 🌹🌹🌹, which plays and talks all so fine with some really great voicing without heavy costs, just as the Aqua Green you demoed here in this video ! ! ! Peace & Play 🎸 On . . . 😎🎸🤘👍 DDH 4-26-2020.
Besides the obvious comparison to the Telecaster Deluxe, it leads me to the question of how the Tele Deluxe with unpotted pickups compares to more modern Tele HH models. Good stuff, Darrell!
Just got mine this week, I have to agree with you, for the money I don't think you can get a better made, versatile guitar, sounds great, plays fantastic, I put mine on the bench and gave it a complete look over, I could not find a single flaw. Incredible sounding guitar. Mine was payment for a LP makeover, he wanted EMGs, so for the upgrade and work he gave me this, still in the box. A good trade definitely. I absolutely love, a bit heavier than a Tele but not overly so, but it is a very well made guitar, it's a keeper for sure.
This T style has all the comforts that it needs, forearm and belly cut, Grovers, Bigsby. Now just make it in a dark caramel-ish finish with a roasted maple neck and I'm onboard! Honest review from Darrell as usual! 🤟
@@SchecterGuitarTV Oh boy, I just may have to do that. I'll get bummed out. Maybe after when i go back to work. Thank you for the info, a Schecter is next on my list. This model won me over. Beautiful work guys😉👍
I have one in red sparkle that is fantastic. I put a Vibramate comb attachment on the Bigsby to facilitate string changing. I also put 2 GraphTech string trees on it. It really holds tune very well and is a blast to play.
Great review, spec profile and tone info- great job. The way you conduct these reviews have greatly helped my decision making process easier. I’m a fan, keep up the good work and thanks for making it fun!!🎸🎸🎸🎸 🤘 ROCK ON!!
I went and checked this out at my favorite music gear store AMS and they have it and it's only $699. a really sweet guitar for that price. Darrell i really enjoy all your videos, informative, your a great guitarist and always humor and these days I'll take all of that I can get. keep on pickin and grinnin from Nashville, Tn. God bless all stay safe
I own one of these and can attest that it is loaded. Mine is a little heavy, but that's to be expected with a Bigsby. The nut is Graphtech TUSQXL, which was clearly printed on the side, I know that because it fell out when I changed the strings for the first time. But hey, that's two steps above what Gretsch normally uses (the Graphtech NuBone). Also, if you stop the video at 8:19 you will see the low E string is hanging up on the back of the bridge, although mine was worse. After I set the intonation every string was in contact with the metal on the back edge, so much so that when I used the vibrato the bridge rocked back and forth on the posts, you could actually hear the posts moving the wood, which also defeated the Bigsby from working well. I solved that by filing grooves in the back of the bridge to allow the strings to clear the metal, but Schecter can solve that by mounting the bridge a bit closer to the neck. Whatever, it was easy enough and worth the effort, it's liquid now and stays in tune. This is a $700 HH Schecter with dual volume, tone, split coils, a licensed Bigsby, Graphtech nut, roller bridge, and I'm pretty sure the edges were rolled by hand. Did I mention it loves drop C? It's not perfect, but it's a whole lotta guitar for the price.
All you had to do was lower the action a bit and reset the intonation bud. No need to file anything. I've been a luthier for 27 years and have never filed the back of a bridge that I can recall. 🤔 At the same time, if it worked for you, then I suppose it is a technique to consider. 😏☺️
If John Suhr suddenly made lower budget high grade instruments, l think they may have truned out like this. He did start out making custom guitars out of schecter parts back in late 70s and early 80s.and they where amazing.
You sold me Darrell! Great video as always. Was heading for a $1,300 PRS. This has that and more plus the great Tele shape. And the Bigsby!!! I hear you’re a Bigsby Fan!!?? Yepper. Pairs with my existing Tele! Be well and keep up the great work.
You had to upload this two days after I purchased a Fender Player Telecaster, didn't you? Kidding, good video, as always. I actually considered one of these PT Fastbacks but I wanted to support my local guitar shop through all of this virus mess and ordered a Tele from them. :)
Even on my Diamond Series Blackjack PT, the fretwork is outstanding. This one sounds excellent - some great classic rock tones coming out of it (of course your playing helps).
Nice review. I got interested in the D,Angelico deluxe Atlantic after watching your channel. Ended up buying one, couldn’t be happier, really great guitar. Thanks. I’ve played a few Reverend guitars and have been really impressed, high end components and fairly priced, would definitely like to see your take.
Mahogany tonewood is a relatively heavy choice, and you’ll feel the weight of it more than basswood, alder and ash around your shoulder, though it’s not as dense as some brighter-sounding woods.
It has a classic look. I really don't like the pickguards on regular Fender Teles, but I do like the deluxe. I also enjoyed your demo of the PT Pro, and I'm considering buying one. This one has a more vintage vibe/look, which is not what I'm looking for, but should I change my mind, it is a definite contender. Schecter is just killing it. I'm not surprised you demo a lot of their stuff.
As always, that was an excellent demo, Darrell! I'm interested to see how it compares to a Fender/Squier Telecaster Deluxe or Thinline since the PT has similar appointments; especially the pickups. Cheers from Western New York!
This is a really nice guitar and priced right for the quality and features. Thanks to your demo here I am going to have to by one. I'm getting the green one. Running out of studio space but I think I can fit this one in. Good job on this presentation. When I order can I say "Darrell Sent Me ". FYI.... No need to wiggle the guitar when you have a Bigsby on it. It's the ultimate wiggle stick ! Be well !
It arrives tomorrow. I combo’d it with a fender jag vintera pf for a broad range of styles and tones, all for under $1.8G with bags. Thanks for the review.
Fantastic video, your reviews carry all the information for someone who is happy to buy without trying. Just wondering if the neck has a profile suitable for smaller hands? Love my charvel and was looking for a humbucker alternative to gig with as a second guitar. Would greatly appreciate your thoughts or anyone who has played these.
Darrell, keep up the amazing work and keep pushing Schecter!!! I’m afraid they are slowly fading away from the limelight and we can’t let that happen! They are too focused on the Metal crowd for their own good and their more classic style guitars get very little to no publicity from them at all whatsoever! I’d like you and other Schecter loving youtubers to keep pushing them so that they keep producing them don’t go away completely
Schecter Guitar Research Well, I would hope not! It really breaks my heart that most of the Tempest line has all but disappeared, except for the Jerry Horton models... I’d also like to see the TS/H-1 Classic come standard from the factory with a Bigsby!
@@SchecterGuitarTV I would love a PT fastback 2, can't find one anywhere in the UK right now. I am glad you will make this a permanent model, it looks and sounds fabulous.
I love everything about this guitar. It checks a ton of boxes. But... I don't use a bigsby. Is that easy to replace? Trapeze tailpiece. This guitar really looks awesome.

I just can't get enough of teles, just beautiful instruments
I especially like them with a little bit of makeup on ;) Standard tele fare is kind of boring imo.
Former Nashville session picker here (some 40 years ago). I really like your videos and demonstrations, Darrell. Liked and subscribed.
Haven’t tuned into your channel in a minute and your intro video was hilariously amazing!
Ordered this PT Fastback from Reverb (sold by Sam Ash in mint condition) in red for $475 a couple days ago!
First Impression:Beautiful Loaded Guitar that sounds great and has excellent features like a 14 inch radius on the fingerboard. It is a great buy
Schecter does it again! Awesome!
What a beautiful guitar! Love the metallic colour and overall appearance.
Thanks for posting.
I have one as well. My only complaint is that the pole pieces are cosmetic, and can't be adjusted.
Hi guys, (sorry if My English is not that good). Im interested in this guitar but I dunno if is the Best option for me, what about the bigsby, the smoothness/action(this is really important for me), Weight, sound, etc for You ?? I need an opinion from someone that already got this guitar, please (i'm interested in this guitar and the pt pro, but I prefer the look of the fastback)
You install the Hipshot without modifications?
The HipShot’s come with a UMP or Universal Mounting Plate. No drilling required!
just ordered mine....arrives Friday and im so excited!
thanks for the review
How are you finding it?
My Wolfgang is over 9½ lbs. It's a pig.
No clue how this video goes yet but I can't help but press like after watching that intro.
Forearm contour + binding... that takes some epic carpentry. Not seen that before. Love the colour too - like Steve McQueens Mustang GT in Bullitt. I'll just go find a cash machine.
Woa, looks like THE guitar I'm looking for ! I was building one, but that one will stay in my future list.
Beautiful guitar!!! Love the content Darrell!
Thanks for another quality video, Darrell, you are appreciated!!
Thx!
Had one Schecter, good stuff. This is a really beautiful one for sure!
This is one of the best Tele style guitars for the money.
I have one in red metallic.
I have the same one! I usually switch out pups on guitars, but I cant seem to find a good reason to with this one. Only thing that turns me off, is that the poles are cosmetic, and can't be adjusted. Still though, it sounds great no matter what I'm playing. Best $550 I spent!!
Would you mind speaking to how well it stays in tune?
@@dustindavis3348 Not bad at all. It has Grover tuners, but if you're really picky, you'd want to replace them with locking Sperziels or the equivalent.
@@IRONWOOKIE0825 thanks so much for the info!
Not gonna lie, the green looks freaking gorgeous
I have this guitar in Red colour, this is my go to guitar on my self quarantine time
Truth be told I have never been a fan of T style guitars & thanks to your Mr Durrell sir, They are starting to grow on me & this one you just reviewed here, Love it.
I'm not a huge fan of traditional tele colors and features but this one just screams rock n roll
Thank you for this. It's on my short list of must have guitars.
Darrell for the colour this is exactly what I've heard referred to as "Fastback green" in many places so yeah very apt colour for this
A Schecter PT might have to be my next purchase.
A real beauty !
Really cool guitar sounds awesome!
Love my black PT and would like to add that one or the new Fastback with „Trons“ :)
This T style has all the comforts that it needs, forearm and belly cut, Grovers, Bigsby. Now just make it in a dark caramel-ish finish with a roasted maple neck and I'm onboard! Honest review from Darrell as usual! 🤟
Ooh yeah, roasted neck! 👍
@@Scottocaster6668 we made the PT Pro with the Roasted Maple check out Darrell's review on that!
@@SchecterGuitarTV Oh boy,
I just may have to do that. I'll get bummed out. Maybe after when i go back to work.
Thank you for the info, a Schecter is next on my list. This model won me over. Beautiful work guys😉👍
looks great, I really like the tele with bigsby
I have one in red sparkle that is fantastic. I put a Vibramate comb attachment on the Bigsby to facilitate string changing. I also put 2
GraphTech string trees on it. It really holds tune very well and is a blast to play.
Its a t-style schecter and it sounds like it will chug and shred as well as do most of the duties of a t-style.
yes
Great review, spec profile and tone info- great job. The way you conduct these reviews have greatly helped my decision making process easier. I’m a fan, keep up the good work and thanks for making it fun!!🎸🎸🎸🎸 🤘 ROCK ON!!
Wow, that is just gorgeous. And truly a "do everything" guitar.
At the same time, if it worked for you, then I suppose it is a technique to consider. 😏☺️
If John Suhr suddenly made lower budget high grade instruments, l think they may have truned out like this. He did start out making custom guitars out of schecter parts back in late 70s and early 80s.and they where amazing.
Schecter really has it going on. I own one and love it,not a T style though. You get good quality with a Shec.😉
Beautiful guitar!
It arrives tomorrow. Will follow up. I combo’d it with a fender jag vintera pf for a broad range of styles and tones, all for under 2G with bags.
Very nice guitar. I have a PT Special and love it.
Gorgeous sound
It does sound very surprisingly good!!!
I love that model - especially the green. I just wish it didn't have the bigsby.
You had to upload this two days after I purchased a Fender Player Telecaster, didn't you?
Kidding, good video, as always. I actually considered one of these PT Fastbacks but I wanted to support my local guitar shop through all of this virus mess and ordered a Tele from them. :)
I bought this guitar based on this video. Thank you for showing this. It had everything I was looking for.
All T-style guitars should have binding. Double bound is even better!
Even on my Diamond Series Blackjack PT, the fretwork is outstanding. This one sounds excellent - some great classic rock tones coming out of it (of course your playing helps).
That is great. Not even a tele guy and would love to play it.
I've got this same guitar and I love it. Great guitar for the money!
I've been waiting for this one!
Sweet guitar!
One word only........superb!
As always, that was an excellent demo, Darrell! I'm interested to see how it compares to a Fender/Squier Telecaster Deluxe or Thinline since the PT has similar appointments; especially the pickups. Cheers from Western New York!
Was expecting you to go into the EVH Eruption solo at the 4:47 mark. I just picked up this guitar and waiting for it to be delivered.
This video inspired me to purchase this guitar. In love.
Super preciosa!!!! El color también es muy bonito y el tono me encanta, suena Vintage
Don't worry our retro line isn't going anywhere. Especially the PT's.
Schecter Guitar Research Well, I would hope not! It really breaks my heart that most of the Tempest line has all but disappeared, except for the Jerry Horton models... I’d also like to see the TS/H-1 Classic come standard from the factory with a Bigsby!
@@The2ndProtectsTheRest check out IG there may be a come back REALLY soon!
@@SchecterGuitarTV I would love a PT fastback 2, can't find one anywhere in the UK right now. I am glad you will make this a permanent model, it looks and sounds fabulous.
Darell is now obsessed with schecter guitars haha!
5:54 I thought you were about to play, "To live is to die" for a moment there. Hehe
Wow... that thing’s incredible!
Anybody else still very amused by the intro clip? It never gets old for me 😂
When he throws that Acoustic up on the roof...dying!!
I love everything about this guitar. It checks a ton of boxes. But... I don't use a bigsby. Is that easy to replace? Trapeze tailpiece. This guitar really looks awesome.
