I just bought a 2000 Century 1 owner with 82K miles on it for $3100. Runs and looks like new. Wanted a backup car when my 2001 Lesabre with 196K miles wears out. To be honest I think the 3800 in my Lesabre is probably good for 250K plus. Great cars that offer good mileage, safety, and reliability. Very popular.
My uncle had a '97 gold century custom from 1997-2006. It needed a new trans, so he sold it for $500. It was an amazing car that cruised like a yacht on the highway, loved it. Now he has a 2004 Pathfinder.
dig the front split bench and column shifter and that mostly flat floor with plenty of space for the legs to spread out. the '97 and '98 models were boats but rode vastly smoother over the bumps, than the later years with stiffer anti-sway bars and higher spring rates.
I just got a silver 2003 century, all leather, 47,000 original miles on it!!! Immaculate, even smells new! I'm glad to say that I'll be driving this baby for a long while, its an amazing car
My g/f has a century, fantastic car, comfortable and suprisingly fast. I was thinking about getting one myself but I wanted something a bit bigger so I went with a roadmaster. Buicks are my favorites lol

I have to admit. it's not flashy, feature-rich or very powerful but this is just a fun car to drive if you drive aggressively. smooth as an e class and has more power than a new '13/14 fusion (non turbo) with about the same mpg. plus from personal experience, nothing will damage it. deers, other cars, potholes, etc. I have one as a dd right now and it only looks good in maroon red with the chrome caps/grill.

My relative has this car & it is going to be mine soon. I'm 14 & (I hate to admit it) I love this car! Rides so nice, leather interior, wide windshield, big trunk, and a cute middle seat! Can't wait to start learning to drive in in! Been being driven in it since I was a baby! Wonderful car!!

I got a 2003 buick century for $400 and will have about $600 worth of repairs into it when finished, doing all the work myself, so for $1000 when you come across a car with good reviews, you don't mind putting some money into one that is reputable. I have heard nothing but great things about these buick centuries. It's a humble car that won't turn many heads, but they are very reliable, and that's gold to me.

i Notice the Radio has Motorized Potitmeters so when you hit the volume on the steering wheel a motor rotates the Volume control on the radio faceplate....that's pretty neat!
i got my 1999 buick century for free (first car)....but i had to replace the rack and pinion steering, sway bar, water pump, thermostat, i flushed the heater core with the hose, all 4 new brake pads and rotors, and replaced the starter....it has 192k miles on it and its been in the fam since 05-06...gotta love a good old 3.1 L v6 ohv :) got some videos on here of her @ carzzz101

We stripped it because it wouldn't sell online. that's okay, that buick is to old for me anyway. I want one in the year range of 1997-2004. it's better because its more modern with cruise control, overdrive, all that fancy stuff that the older year of buick doesn't have, It's been a obsession for me ever since that thing has been around.
I never had a Buick, but I would buy one in a flash. I like the Century over the Regal, because it has a bench seat, something you don't see in cars today. (You see them in some basic pickup trucks now.). With a bench seat, my lady can sit close to me, and my arm around her and my other hand on the wheel. I wouldn't recommend trying it, though; that would be considered distracted driving!

You would think with the suspension being as floaty as it is, that it would handle like a boat. I was quite surprised when I test drove it.
I'm a college student with only 1000 bucks to spend on a car, fortunately for me, I found a guy selling an '00 Century, only issue it has is that it's been keyed, but I'll get that taken care of in the future when I have a bit more cash on me. I'm glad I'm seeing nothing but good things about it from you guys! The guy says it only has 140k miles, which isn't too bad for a v6 in my opinion. Can't beat this for 1000 bucks.
+Jeff Wentz Just watch out for the Head Gaskets on the 3.1. They are notorious for going on you at 150K so be prepared. Other than that, if you get them fixed they are good for another 50K after that. Mine is an 03 with just over 100K, so I'm expecting to get a lot more life out of mine yet. Just changed oil every 3 k and tires.

@randomrazr sorry, but the 1997-2005 Buick Century was only equipped with the 3.1L Sequential Fuel Injected (3100 SFI) V6 engine that is notorious for head gasket and intake manifold failures mostly from high speeds. The 3.8L Series II (3800 Series II) was found on the 1997-2004 Buick Regal.

These cars are very good-only thing GM went cheap on the interiors (cheap plastics that shrink and loosen up as they age). Sometimes the whole car would vibrate and resonate when you turned the radio on.

most important thing on these is to never use the dex cool antifreeze. i always have mine flushed out and i use the 50/50 all makes and models stuff. this will prevent it from eating headgaskets. just a tip.
I would love to see Mona from the WarioWare series drive around in this big beauty instead of her scooter. Imagine seeing her deliver pizzas in a friggin' Buick. Anyways, the Buick Century is one fine machine and is a great alternative for anybody who doesn't want to drive a Japanese sedan. I mean come on, this thing is more reliable than the Nissan Maxima and it's much better too. It might be an old people's car, but the Buick Century is car that is guaranteed to run great. And yes, we've actually driven inside of one, but we never owned one though.
@saabkyle04 They had the 3300 until 1997. Then they got the 3100 sfi V6. I believe it was the 2nd or 3rd generation of the 3100 at that point. I own a 1997 Buick Century with just over 28k on the odo. No. The odo didn't "roll over." NO JOKE! :-)
It’s refreshingly simple to operate. Not too many buttons. Love the large dashboard enough to have a picnic in. Lofty ride.

The 3100 motor in the Century can have serious engine problems with the Head Gasket/Intake Manifold It is very common on those engines.
Intake manifold gasket replaced twice.

i have had all and have never had gasket issues, the only one i had gasket issues was the 2.2L

He only filled to about 1/4 or less. My neighbor does this too. She buys about $10 worth gas every other day instead of filling it up once a week.
hell ya, well the mileage depends. I once drove it from my home in Indiana to New York on one full tank of gas.
