  • As you may know, I am obsessed with Bioshock, and as we get closer and closer to the movie adaptation from Netflix, I thought I would try my hand at pitching what I think would be a really solid prologue that would clearly set up a strong, nuanced take on the source material. I had a lot of fun with this.

Vincent Price will be the perfect guy as Andrew Ryan. But he passed away years ago. I wish there is somebody who is similar to Vincent.

Hi, This is the 2nd vid I see of yours, and I'm enjoying your Bioshock content so much : )
I wanted to talk to you about some tecnical things that I think are not qite right in your video:
--- FIRST DESCLAIMER: English is not my first language, so please all be kind. I didn't wanna run all this in google translate, that is anyway often wrong also. Also this are just my opinions, I'm no marine engeniere nor a cinema tecnician, ecc ---
    1. At night under the sea is completly dark, so outside the bathisphere window would be all black and not green (Maybe some light coming from the bathisphere's exterior's lights, but not too bright, nor as bright as some might think, unless it hits with the reflection sand and rocks). But as for this moment 11:11 when Jack sees Rapture, ofcourse there will be plenty of human made lighting, and glowy creatures and some rocks and plants (without overdoing it).
    2. The Bathisphere wouldn't swing by itself I think when is in the lighthouse station, why would it be? There is no wind but Rapture is rotting, and I do not know what the decay would be, or when it would start, and presicely what rate. But the swinging would meen damadge, and right after the swing it all works for Jacks decent, so I don't know.
Maybe instead when Jack enters it, it can secom a little bit by his human weight, just barely perceivable, and then go back up.

Gosh dang it... I clicked on this to have something fun in the background as I do some things, but I got hooked and watched the whole damn thing intently! Alright Dave... "bet" as the kids say, just let me be the voice of a creepy splicer would you kindly?

I’m getting hyped for the movie. Totally might have my heart broken, but the avatar trailer proved to me there’s a chance Netflix can pull this off

After how well the Fallout show turned out, I have a tiny bit of hope that if they do ever make a series (prefer that over a movie) it won’t suck. It’s already got a built in message so no need to add in any modern day crap. Some people can’t get of their own way when making escapist entertainment. Bioshock, if done right, I think would adapt pretty well. Its narrative and setting alone were very compelling to me.

I loved Jake Gyllenhaal in Zodiac, too.

Not sure what it means about my mental state but I love Zodiac so much it's somehow my comfort movie. And his work in that movie I think would translate PERFECTLY to be Jack in Bioshock

I agree 100% that Robert Downey Jr should be Andrew, pretty good fantasy casting, especially since he played Charlie Chaplin, who kind of looks like Walt Disney, who's appearance often reminds me of Andrew Ryan as well.
However I disagree with Jake as Jack, he just seems way too old, I would have pictured Jack to be played by a younger more unknown actor, who has a more baby faced appearance.
The vibe of the prologue was perfect though, especially when he's in the bathysphere it was very atmospheric.

Thanks! I think the reason I skewed a little older for Jack is my innate disintrest in like a "sexy" young actor in the role (even though my AI images make Jake pretty suave looking). I think the movie needs to be dark and gritty and shouldn't feature a babyface looking lead.

I already have a dream cast for the movie, apparently they already announced the writer and director for the film, I know they won’t choose these actors for this film…but I figured I’d share my casting choices anyway…
⚠️⛔️SPOILER WARNING FOR BIOSHOCK 1 AND 2 FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T PLAYED THE GAMES⛔️⚠️
Right off the bat….Johnny Depp as Andrew Ryan,
    Mark Strong as Fontaine/Atlas,
Emily Blunt or Scarlet Johansson as Brigid Tenenbaum,
    Hayley Atwell as Julia Langford,
    Reese Witherspoon as Diane McClintock,
    Margot Robbie as Jasmine Jolene,
    BD Wong as Dr.Suchong,
Cillian Murphy or John Waters as Sander Cohen,
    David Dastmalchian as Dr.Steinman,
Jessica Lange or Tilda Swinton as Sofia Lamb,
Angela Bassett or Octavia Spencer as Grace Holloway,
    Charlie day as Stanley Poole,
    Jeremy Renner as Gilbert Alexander,
    Bob Odenkirk as Augustus Sinclair.
Tyler Perry or Winston Duke as Charles Milton Porter
Pedro Pascal or Antonio Banderas as Reed Whal
For Jack I think a number of actors could play him considering he has no speaking role(except for the beginning of the game and the occasional noises he makes during the game.) the top 3 choices for me at least are Logan Lerman, Devon Sawa, or Steve Howey.
The reason why I’m putting the cast of each character from BioShock 1 and 2 here is in case they take the movie one of two ways. One way they’ll explain the origin of rapture and the eventual fall of the city or start off where Jack travels through the city in which we would only need the characters from the 1st game.
And now for the cast for BioShock Infinite.(possible spoilers for BioShock Infinite.)
Theo James or Josh Hutcherson or Joe Keery as Booker Dewitt/Zachary Comstock
    Paul dano as Robert Lutece
    Rachael Taylor as Rosalind Lutece
Chloë Grace Moretz or Jenna Coleman or Thomasin McKenzie as Elizabeth/Anna
    David Harbour as Cornelius Slate
Cynthia Addai robinson or Keke Palmer as Daisy Fitzroy
Hon ping tang as Chen Lin
    Sandra Oh as Mrs.Lin
Lady Gaga or Natalie Portman as Alternate universe Mrs.Lin
Rami Malek or Adam Driver as Jeremiah Fink
Sarah Paulson or Jennifer Garner as Lady Comstock
I’m including the 3rd game in case they want to make a BioShock trilogy by continuing with the 3rd installment

  • @bearlogg7974
    @bearlogg7974 3 місяці тому +2

It’s either this or the begining dialogue of the book between Ryan & Sullivan about Hiroshima setting the tone of rapture.
Anything else will be painful to watch

If it's handled well, I'll take either the opening of the first game or the book for sure, I just think opening with the game is a nice self contained mystery that could catch people's attention. It's like the difference between beginning the star wars saga with a New Hope or Phantom Menace

    • @nerdyworld938
      @nerdyworld938 3 місяці тому

@@davecolumboI agree and the opening of the game imo though is better because it throws you right into the story and world without any hesitation and it’s immediately exciting, dark, and mysterious. In screenwriting too you usually want something exciting to happen within the first 10 pages(or 10 minutes in the film) so a plane crash would definitely do it!
