to me it sounds like u devalue sitcom actors and funny characters. Jim Carrey has long been lauded for being able to do comedy and drama, and Meryl Streep has recently been heralded for her nuanced kooky and dramatic comedic performance on Only Murders

naa she should have just hired someone else that looked more like the real griselda. the makeup and prosthethics were ghastly! the worst makeup job in modern television. it really took away from her performance. her build and features are the complete opposite of the real griselda but she insisted on still playing it and just overdid the makeup and prothethics to make up for it and its obvious.

Playing Against Typecast can be interesting and fun even. Look at Heath Ledger, he was in many romantic roles before he became The Joker, though unfortunately his method acting is essentially what killed him.

Damn! Just binged watched and Sophia is one hell of an actress. Her portrayal of Griselda had me sympathizing with the character. I’m still processing a host of emotions.
Just remember it bears zero resemblance to the reality 😂 she was an absolute monster and this was total fiction.

i've just finished the series too. i feel sorry about how Griselda was bullied by so many men along her way, including her awful second husband who forced her to do something so terrible with his brother. i feel that she was forced into this bad business by a lot of the emotional trauma inflicted upon her by the men she trusted. obviously she turned into a bad person but i wonder if it was caused by her traumatic life experiences before that.

I believe I may have watched almost all of Griselda’s biography/movies and really feeling like Sophia’s gonna pull this off. I like that she’s Colombian because Griselda is also Colombian so this is a plus!

I've followed Sofia's career on TV and in movies and knew she could pull this off. She is very underrated as an actress.

Not only is it exciting to see Vergara show her dramatic acting chops but she’s Colombian so no accent critiques should happen. (Saying this as someone who is half Colombian/Cuban). When I hear the Spanish in the trailer, it lands where it’s supposed too.

Good to see Sofia branching out. It’s also great that this is in Spanish so it will be more natural. Sometimes it seems that some of her roles require her to play up her accent for laughs but this seems to be a solid part for her to play.

It’s time to speak the other languages that were first spoken FIRST in this country….and acknowledge the ACTUAL/ ORIGINAL PEOPLE THAT WERE HERE FIRST….The Indigenous Languages, Spanish ( which was and is still spoken in the south / west coast given that it was originally part of Mexico 🇲🇽….thats why we have places like Los Angeles, La Paz etc. Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and the indigenous languages of Hawaii and Alaska ). The documentary called Cocaine Cowboys and another one made not long ago show the real Griselda's childhood where she kidnapped a boy and murdered him while she was not even a teenager yet. The fact she made excuses being a drug lord for her sons to have a better life was a big lie. She became just like her mother thinking all about herself. This mini series glorified the fact she was upset about the little boy who was murdered in a car while with his father. The truth was Griselda celebrated the boy's death coldly. Her youngest son the only one who didn't lived the life his mother had her 3 oldest sons involved in. Griselda should had known she will reap what she sow losing her 3 sons. Her last husband was right she wasn't a good mother. Every drug lords was scared of Griselda because her past lovers confirmed the evilness they felt from her.
i'll be disappointed if it doesn't feature music from Westside Gunn, Benny the Butcher, Conway the Machine, etc.

I agree, i'm conflicted cause i want to watch her in a different role but i don't like how series like Narcos portrayed them and i would really hate that they show her like some cool, girl boss, like someone to admire.
She was a killer and one of the people who let this aweful heritance of narcotrafic in my country and somehow she TRULY was like a godmother to the greatest monster of them: Pablo Escobar.
I just like 1 serie about this Narcos and is "El patrón del mal" it shows Escobar as the monster who inflicted pain to many colombians and shows the history of the heroes who tried to fight him and the victims that should not be forgotten.
I still hope that they can do something similar with Griselda.

Human exploitation, suffering, and murder has its hand in every significant financial enterprise that's ever existed. I don't support drug dealers and i don't do drugs, but lets not pretend like the people we idolize most don't have the blood of human exploitation on their hands. Elon Musk's family made their money through slave labor during apartheid. The untold hundred of thousands of human lives that they are directly linked to ruining, we will never hear about. It just so happens that what they did was legal when they did it. The same as us having presidents who owned human bodies hundreds of years ago; the Musk family had very low wage or no wage worker in diamond and emerald mines not 30 or 40 years ago.
It's more of a fascination than idealization. It's good to be aware that people like this exist.
I don’t idolized drug dealers at all, but I find it very interesting to hear their story and I think that’s the case with most people.

Finally they are speaking Spanish. Biopics about others should always be in the native language. When is saw the first preview I was a little skeptical. The second one makes this look a lot better.
I don't think biopics need to be in the original language. I think it would be extremely limiting, especially in the marketing. Fact is, many people speak English internationally, making it the more viable language across all borders. I personally don't mind subtitles, but that's just my thought on that matter.

It can be a story about a criminal, but don't confuse it with someone to look up to. I love how they're expanding the world of Narcos. Narcos:Mexico was an incredible spin-off and I hope this new series would be another great, fantastic tale about the drug trade in the 20th century. And I don't doubt that it will be.

There were a few seconds that actually made me jump! Whatever I thought by typecasting Sofia Vegara in my mind as a sexy comedic pin-up just went right out the window. She is coming into this role with literal guns blazing and I am ready to witness her transformation- it has the whiff of " You can kindly hand me the award, thank you." all over it.

I was keep on avoiding this movie (no reason) but then gave it a shot. Great movie, great acting, Sofia was at another level than I am used to.

Yes! I saw "Cocaine Cowboys" a few years ago. That was chilling. Based on this sample I'm pretty sure the full "Griselda" series is going to be just as chilling as the documentary. Although it was a comedic role, I always thought Sofia brought a hard edge to the character "Gloria" but this is beyond anything I could have imagined.

As someone who has studied griselda blanco + many of the other gangsters for YEARS I believe in my heart of hearts that sofia is way too pretty and too tall to play Griselda. just my opinion.
also, no one in her inner circle and not even her SON Michael was contacted for this movie and I'm sure they will include his kidnapping in the movie as well and when she had Sepúlveda taken out.
Do I love that Griselda made it to NETFLIX? Absolutely. Just would have liked it to be have been more authentic and happy they chose sofia for this over JLO.

If she doesn’t get and award for this, we riot. She killed this and I was one of those who thought it was a terrible cast for her to play this role but I was so wrong. Man this was good 🔥
just finished the series. i actually feel sorry about how Griselda was bullied by so many men along her way, including her awful second husband who forced her to do something so terrible with his brother. i feel that she was forced into this bad business by a lot of the emotional trauma inflicted upon her by the men she trusted. obviously she turned into a bad person but i wonder if it was caused by her traumatic life experiences before that.
I am in episode 4 and i am amazed at her acting. Goat level! She dersves all awards for her amazing acting. Damn she is good! Love from Kenya.
Wow!!! Go Sophia!!!!! She's always been assigned with light silly female roles that didn't show her true talent. This role seems to be a major success and (finally) a break for her and many other women in the future!!!
Sofia Vergara did an exceptional job of portraying Griselda. I had no idea she had that kind of talent…hope to see her in more serious roles.

Just finished Watching Griselda !!! And the only thing that bugged me was - that the series ended !!! Once I started watching And when it finished I couldn't believe it bcz I didn't want it to end!!! Marvelous performance by Sofia Vergara and all the other actors !! She deserves all the applause for acting in this series ! Loved her through and through !! And a key reminder for us all on why we love well-written characters specially female characters and a big reminder especially to the big banner studios and writers that this is how you write strong female and female centric characters !!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 and kudos to Netlfix for giving justice to the story as well as for casting Sofia Vergara !
