LIRR MP15AC Nathan Old Cast P01235 horn

A westbound stone extra wails through Farmingdale Village saluting the grade crossings with a wicked sounding Old Cast Nathan P01235 (P5). Note the horn in the distance towards the end of the video... The crossing that the train is blowing for is about a mile west of the camera.

Gotta love a MP-15 bouncing across a road crossing at speed. They are like the tug-boats of the locomotive world. & that horn damn near gives me wood.

Still enjoying this video. I also love how you can hear the EMD engine pumping, even in the distance. This used to be one of my favorite things about having a boat near the FEC mainline. It was an awesome sound in the night.

That is one great horn, especially the capture from a distance. That's some bounce there -- the engine crew must have had quite a ride.

Track is allowed 3 inches of vertical movement. How the locomotive translates that is on the locomotive. MP15's are well know to be bouncy.

LIRR MP15s were specifically built and geared with speed in mind, they were ordered in the 70s, and by that time they were used on passenger trains up to the early 2000s when the DM/DE30s were introduced
