Appreciate the shout out at the end. And for more of Hawks' backstory and relationship with the Hero Public Safety Commission, it is brought up in one of the spinoff mangas called Team Up Missions. So spoilers for if you wanted to read that series. If you want more info on Hawks, then read the remainder of this comment. This information does not affect anything of the main storyline. Just makes you think about the behind the scenes of the Commission more.
I read it a while ago now, so anyone can correct me if the information is wrong. But basically this one chapter called Hawks' Private Room is about a tiny supply room or break room that Hawks goes to. It is the only place he can fully relax without his handlers or anyone in the Commission watching him. His own apartment is not a home to him because it is provided by the Commission and is barren and no more than a front. He goes to this room to relax, cry, and get away from all the negativity from the Commission and what they make him do. The Commission even controlled his off hours and basically watched his every move. He was considered government property and he did their bidding whether good or bad. Of course the bad and horrific stuff they made him do is “for the greater good” so it’s not bad according to them. The Commission’s hero program is basically making child soldiers that they can manipulate to do their bidding. From his parents to the commission, Hawks wants from bad situation to bad situation.

@@reactuniversity5277of course. You two are quickly becoming reactors that I get excited to watch. And don’t worry for the second paragraph. It doesn’t spoil the entirety of Team Up Missions. Team Up Missions is basically the slice of life portion of the MHA universe. While the story is cohesive and fits in with the main storyline, the chapters are basically one-shots of everyday life. It gives the readers a glimpse into seeing different characters interacting with each other that don’t usually interact with or different groups and pairings than we usually see. It’s the more day to day school life or the day to day of the pro heroes. This spin off series only adds to the world building and has the stuff that they can’t fully flush out in the main manga due to staying on track of the main events happening. Trust me, as a completely caught up manga reader, reading the second paragraph won’t change anything. I only mention a couple details from Team Up Missions chapter 22, which is still relatively in the beginning of the series. I usually wouldn’t mention spoilers for anything, but with the way Team Up Missions is set up, it is really lax and it truly really does not spoil anything, just adds more context. Now, if it was MHA’s other spin off manga, Vigilantes , that’s another story. I would never spoil that series as it is really good and I believe it got announced that they are going to make it into an anime.
