- The Atrax is a 3 DOF Australian Funnel Web Spider inspired robot, that is mainly wooden made. The parts are cut from a 3 mm plywood plate with a Dremel saw. 27 servos are dispatched as follows: 24 for legs, 2 for fangs and 1 for the abdomen.
Everything else (servos, erectors, electronics, ..) are supplied by Lynxmotion.
3 different real walking patterns are implemented:
- Scorpion (4231 seq.)
- Tarantula (4132 seq.) quite slow gait in the real life
- Metachronal (4231 seq.) common for running spiders, ticks, lobsters and crabs - Наука та технологія
Never thought I'd watch a spider-robot do some sassy poses on a baby blanket, but that's UA-cam for you.
Fascinating project. Well done!
=)
I keep coming back to this video. still the coolest thing I've ever seen.
That has to be the awesome robot I have ever seen to date. I watched this with a smile on my face with AWE.
Thank you for uploading this - I've been trying to get my head around some of the gaits for octopeds recently (especially turning) and your video shows them very clearly. Seriously impressed with how well this has been put together indeed.
BTW, the mandibles and LED 'eyes' are a very nice touch :-)
Keep up the good work!
Great fluid motion. I'm totally impressed.
Truly amazing! Fantastic work on the robot.
Great stability and high maneuverability and the relative simplicity of the design.
this is one of the best samba beats i have ever heard! :D
The walking is like a chain almost. One leg moves back, the other does the same. The 2 second legs moves closest to the first leg that moved, other side repeats, So on and so forth. Amazing to watch!
This is the most amazing thing i have ever seen in my life!
Also, it's great that you added the fangs because then it can yum yum on things that are yum yums.
i love the rhythm it produces. cant say the same thing about the most of spiders
The moving of the joints makes very rhythmical sounds!
AMAZING !!!!! I need to make one of these some day !
this might just be the coolest thing I've ever seen.
this is the smoothest moving robot i've seen so far
Awesome work! :)
Impressive! Not enough robots based on actual spiders with spider gaits around. Usually only see Hexapods. This video made me happy :D Thanks for posting it!
...and that's how the robot scorpion uprising began, Little Jimmy.
Wow... Huge range of motions.
Every direction has a groovy rhythm :D , it looks awesome but sounds nice too.. :) Nice work!
So awesome !
Outstanding....realistic!
I need a tutorial on how to make this. This is the answer to my year 10 engineering assignment!
Very cool what you did here.
Good job!
this is adorable. but also gives a lot of inspiration
WoW ! Monster live again ...! Great job !
That's super cool. I love it.
very nice project..
Baffling! You totally nailed those patterns! So goddamn good it's almost truly scary, I'll tell ya
Fantastic!
Walking pattern is awesome...
your floor is so clean!
Trop bien cette araignée! Très beau boulot! :-)
That is fantastic!!!!!
Wow very cool! congrats
Fascinating
This is simply awesome, gongrats :)
its so interesting! it seems he can sense the ground and pressure on his leg
Thanks helped me with my CGI
Robotics kicks ass!
That is so awesome, you rule!!!
Great, my two greatest fears all wrapped up in a neat little package.
god, this is so cool. Good job.
The Best robo spider on youtube
wow...fantastique... & cool
Its just so fun looking at it walk
Amazing
That thing makes an awesome techno beat when it walks!
INCREDIBLE
The motors sound like rapping . Loved it :)
Thanks for your nice comment! But don't worry: that's not the first shot I tried! The most difficutly was that the legs tips (on tars) held often catched by the carpet! ;-)
McSpider
That robo bug has a great tune it's steppin' to.
dat rhythm when it moves is like 90s breakbeat
Wow! Awesome!
Awesome !!!
actually just looking at it already gives me the creeps. Great job
I am enjoying the music this thing makes... :)
This is one of the best things I've ever seen on UA-cam. This is absolutely astounding.
Congrats to the inventer!
Any plans on building toys or perhaps some other practical device based on this design?
Have you thought of working for a SFX company that makes film/television props, or opening your own shop?
Once again, astounding!
Keep up the good work!
Amazing!!!
good show
awesome!
Thank you, I will now have nightmares for the next week...
amazing what a few servos and programmable gadgets can do.
This is awesome! I want one so bad... >.
Awesome...
Magnific
magnificent..
god those motors make one kick ass beat
This is so epic!!!
This is just amazing! O.O
whenever it walks it makes a awesome beat

Dude, you made my day ^^
Sounds like it's laughing dementedly while it moves.
awesome
Very cool :)
Nice!
@aggrav8d
Thanks! Your video is so cool too! This spider is mainly wooden made. A lot of work with the Dremel saw. The total weight is 3050 g.
Awesome
If only i had this robot as a toy when i was young ! I would be a robotic engineer by now lol !

OWNED!
Woderful!
One word: COOL
LOVELY!!!
sounds like a sick beat for a steppa tune! ;)
That's badass. I wish I had the resources to build one myself. and the know-how. haha
Here is the link. I didn't find any other more recent references than this one:
Thanks for your impressions!
there's something really musical about the servo sounds on that mech...:)
For some reason , when it knocked over the doll , I couldn't stop fucking laughing .
that is awesome
also music
that is friggen awesome
Cool!
Right. From 2:40 it has a certain rhytm and sounds very nice:)
Wonderful! Now make a giant version and load two of every animal on it.
Where I can get one? :o Amazing!
