Don't feel bad, my History knowing about Baseball is not good either. As for the Short Round Figure. He looks like Young Sheldon. And for Hasbro making the Packing on those Figures, it sucks.
I’m an American and I honestly only knew that during the last film with that 3 &3/4 figure so don’t feel bad. I thought it was Yankee’s until that point. Which begs the question I had back then, if it’s the Giants then there is no issue. The team moved to (I think) San Francisco so there’d be no trademark fir the logo as it’s very different.
My kids love playing with these. Doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Too bad the line isn’t continuing like you said. But my kids aren’t waiting for other female figures like some of you guys are.

It strikes me as a somewhat self-fulfilling prophecy: they don't want to put too much effort into the products in case they don't sell, and then the products don't sell because they didn't put too much effort into them :/ I think, it the race to collect the almighty dollar, companies (not just Hasbro) have lost sight of what they're actually doing. A toy that is useful neither to children for playing with OR collectors for collecting is a useless venture indeed.
I’d honestly buy Short Round to keep on card but the fact the bubble will literally peel off makes me just stay away

Yeah they may as well be ReAction figures... but I do like the Retro Marvel figures by Kenner.
What's really sad about this is that I 2008, Lego released the superior Indiana Jones toyline, and produced several figures, vehicles, and playsets that hasbro never released
I’m glad TOD is finally getting more love. It’s always been my second favorite and as Tony said,it’s much more fitting to the indy format. I saw it in the theater at age 8 and I’ll never forget it.
these and the retro star wars figures are always filling up the shelves at my local target and walmart, theres still some wave 1 figures in the back of the pegs
9:26 The Walther P38 is the same kind of gun than Megatron turned into in the 1980s Transformers line, so they definitely could've reused this accessory somewhere, like a G.I. Joe / Transformers crossover set.
I don't collect any of these toy ranges, yet I find your channel and Retroblasting, two of my favorite channels on YT. Great editing, enjoyed the content!
The thing I find rather strange is they have the junior playsets, the retro figures, the 6" figures, and even a 12" Indy. They're all over the place. If hasbro just picked one or maybe two different lines instead, and concentrated on making those with quality, and maybe even playability in mind...things could have been different. Maybe. Just a huge maybe.
I see a lot of people saying both Indy lines are fails when I haven’t really seen any figures in stores. Retro Marion and Belloq are all over the place but other than that, all the other Indy stuff is pretty hard to find

I bought an extra Last Crusade Indy for the gun and shoulder bag for my Temple Indy, then I purchased a reproduction whip on ebay. I gave the extra Grail to Henry Sr. I also bought another Crusade Indy so my Raiders Indy would have a shoulder bag and another reproduction whip for my Crusade Indy. I have all the original figures already and left them them as they were originally released. I do wish my original Arabian horse was not sealed in plastic, but it's a graded figure, and still displays well.
I remember when the original Kenner line of Indiana Jones toys was new and in the stores, they were in Odd Lott... a high discount store in my area at the time before dollar stores were a thing, and they were literally always there. Peg warmers indeed.
I bought some of these to keep carded since I don’t have any of the originals. The quality is horrible, sculpts are worse and lack of accessories in the newer/never made before figures is shameful. After opening an Indy, I knew I wouldn’t get a second set to open. As much as it’s nice to see new characters, I’d rather see them all done right by Stan Solo.
I think that’s just it. Stan Solo is where it’s at.

Temple of Doom is my 2nd favorite Indy film and the bridge scene is my favorite scene of the whole series but when I saw the Temple of Doom figure in Target I passed on it, and decided it’s better to try to track down one of Hasbro’s 08 Temple of Doom Indy figures
I have the whole 2008 line and many customs for that line. I upgraded my retro Indy by buying and reproduction whip on ebay and an extra Last Crusade figure for the bag and gun.
Temple is my second favorite after Raiders as well.
I honestly wasn't expecting the retro line to go on any further past what we have. Hasbro made it fairly clear from the outset that they were gonna put out a few waves of products to cash in on the DoD hype, then dip, just like they did with Ghostbusters. I knew they weren't interested in keeping this line going long term, especially given the company's history with this franchise.
Great video Tony! I looked at one of my Hasbro Retro collection figures today and I saw that it was peeling of the card like you pointed out in the video. I think I’m going to have to throw it out!😂

I never collected the original indi line as i was too focussed on star wars. I don't know the originals to really know how bad these are, so in my ignorance they are awesome. I love the retro 5 poa and yes more accessories are cool, but i am used to vintage star wars with one or none.
They peg warmed at jb for a short while but are now gone. Had to order belloq and Marian from overseas.

I'm happy they made the figures. Yes, the price point for quality isn't a compelling reason to purchase, but I'm still excited to see them on the shelf.

There are only 4 Indiana Jones movies. Raiders, Temle of Doom Last Crusade and Crystal Skull
At first I thought Hasbro phoned in this line. I was wrong. They used a drunken, one-eyed carrier pigeon. It's like they did less than the bare minimum so they could justify not bringing out anything further...
My perspective on the India Jones franchise is kind of strange, because I didn't see Temple of Doom until I was an adult, because my parents didn't want me watching it. As a result, to me, Indiana Jones always seemed like a serialized narrative rather than an episodic one, so when I saw the Temple of Doom, it seemed extremely strange out of place to me. I can understand why people who saw them as they were actually coming out would have the opposite opinion though. If the only two Indiana Jones movies you'd seen were Raiders and Doom, it would be very strange to suddenly have a direct sequel to Raiders. Likewise, if the only ones you've seen were Raiders and Crusade, it would be very weird to have this sort of episodic spinoff movie on the middle if for whatever reason you hadn't seen them in order.
I got my Toht figure on clearance. Time to get out my lighter and make his face screen accurate 80's style. lol
If there's anyone I want to see get the SH Figurearts Indiana Jones figure coming out later this year, it's you dude. It puts Hasbro to shame, it's just not in scale with any existing Indiana Jones figure line so far.
I know Mezco's coming out with one too, and I'd get it but their one:12 line isn't my cup of tea
I had most of these (original line) when I was a kid. The problem, especially with the Well of the Souls, was that you couldn't do much with it. I mean, the Death Star was the Death Star, but the Well of Souls is a place Indy got into and then out of one time. Yaay, I can play like I'm knocking a wall down, over and over. (The Staff of Ra was awesome, though; I swear, being a kid in the '80s was all about using different-colored filters). Oddly, I also found more use for that Marketplace basket than I did anything else.) Figures reminded me a lot of the Legend of the Lone Ranger or Dukes of Hazard figures, though, so I never had any complaints there.
I agree hasbro painted the 2008 short round hat and they are painting the 6 inch one shame they did not paint the retro hat.
On a second listen, I realise Tony was saying “Thuggee machete” and not “fucking machete” - fair enough though, why no whip?
I picked up the 1st wave of the 6" line because I always wanted just 1 decent indy figure in his classic look.
for the last crusade I just want Henry Jones because it's James bond lol.
but it's really hard to get excited for indy figures because the characters aren't designed interesting enough like star wars characters.

I respect your opinion but for me I really like the line of figures because as an inbox collector I never open them. I agree the quality is poor and they cheap out on certain aspects. I do want all the characters like Salah, Cairo swordsman and Indy in German outfit plus any more. I do agree the line is not looking good to continue into 2024. On a another issue this video was very well edited Tony! Congrats!

Wish they would have made some Germans or add some new villian figures. I bought a marion as a place holder for when I can get a vintage orginal one and I bought a Indy that I was gonna open and mess with cause my vintage one is a loose graded one then I saw the video that the accessories don’t even fit in the hands so I left it in the package
Who knows, in a thousand years even these toys may be worth something.
I got exactly one of these figures- the reissued Indy for Raiders of the Lost Ark and it is garbage. I was excited for this line as it appeared Hasbro was going in the right direction by making characters we did not get in the original line. Honestly even a few the ROTJ Retro figures are poorly made too. The Han Trench Coat I got can't hold his blaster. When trying to get the blaster to stay in his hand, I ended breaking the hand trying to keep it in place. Anyway it is ashame on so many levels because had Hasbro not gone through their Indy line we have got more from Stan Solo. I have his Marion figure and it is great. When it comes to reproduction and custom vintage Star Wars and Indy figures, no one, not even Hasbro, is on the same level as Stan Solo.
I was happy to collect these retro figures. I wasn’t even alive when the original figures came out and the original figures carded are way too expensive for me now to collect. I am happy to pick these new ones up for $14.99 is not much.. they did lower some to 11.99 I’m happy to pay for. I don’t mind spending the money for the extra accessories. I guess I’m just happy despite these valid complaints.
Would of picked up Indy and Short Round, but once I saw them in store, so cheap looking.
Will be waiting for the 6 inch versions, despite the issues they might have.
And man Last Crusade is my favorite Indy film. Guess I never thought about the points you mentioned, but I never had an issue with that.

I’m glad someone looked at that short round before I purchased him. I had no desire for anything in this line besides him. I hadn’t even looked at the figure until this video. Just thought I’d see him on the pegs and grab him but now I’m hesitant. Same with Henry just to go with my vintage Indy. I may still get those two but that is all. They’ll be a reminder that Hasbro doesn’t care for the customer and only want a quick buck.
Let's hope this means Stan Solo can do better versions of the retro collection once it dies and also make the figures not done yet.
His Indy looked awesome and makes me hope he starts looking into doing it again if the retro collection for Indiana Jones is officially dead.

I always liked the 1st 3 Indy movies but I never felt a pull towards any of the toy releases - the garish color schemes of MOTU, especially, held my attention the longest.
But, yeah Tony, you're right about the disconnect with Hasbro...across multiple lines of toys & or availability/distribution etc.

I remember having lego Indiana Jones toy set and the video game 🎮 when, I was a kid.
Hasbro needs to cut back on the doing cocaine use part of their budget and instead focus that money on making semi decent product. Bought Short Round (my second favorite character in the series) and one arm no whip Indy for the heck of it. I wish they would have made Marion in the red pants, made a Willie in red dress and heck wish they made the tank! But what do I know? I’m just a sucker who occasionally buys these things. Toys, like fandom, sadly are dead. They belong in a museum.

Thanks again Tony. I was too old to get these back then but I appreciate your view on them and they look bad. I collect Lego, but didn’t when they released their fits wave and wish I did then.
In terms of the movies, will I respect your opinion I don’t agree. I would put Temple of Doom higher if two things were true - it didn’t add stuff just for shock value (monkey brains and the like) and it was a true sequel, as planned, and not a prequel as released - but not filmed. You CAN’T have a cliffhanger movie if you KNOW he’s going to live.
The Marion should've at least featured a removable skirt with red pants underneath to make a Cairo style version.
I never got into the retro line, I'm all in for the 6 inch though.
That said there are glaring omissions from both ranges. Where's Mola Ram and Willie Scott from Temple of Doom? What about the German Mechanic and some of the soldiers from Raiders, including Indy in German disguise? Sapito and Jock from the opening temple scene? Last Crusade Sallah?
We're missing some variants too like Marion in Nepal or the dress we see reflected in the Retro figure, Belloq from that opening scene in either range, It's a shame, because while it won't win the best figure trophy, I kinda liked the Raiders Indy, with a little TLC (Gridiron Studios' adventure loadout, Mr. Hobby matte spray). My biggest gripe, besides character selection, is forcing customers to buy figures they don't want to complete vital parts of their artifacts (Hypno Indy with the Sankara Stones, DoD characters with the biggest parts of the Grail Table)
I saw that lot on eBay for 20k…. Jesus!

Great video and pulling no punches ! I can't get why the Marvel 3 3/4 line has such thick card backs but these card backs are like something from a $1 and up store. Why? Too bad we won't get : Monkeyman, Indy maproom, Dietrich, etc. No boardgame with exclusive fig either. I suppose Hasbro could put all those extra figs that don't sell plus 1 or 2 exclusives in a nice retro six pack box ?

As always, Tony, you have done a wonderful video on the State of release or re-issue of classic action figures from the big companies because they want to save money and they want to use our love of the classic action figure or the movies they are attached to the want that money so desperately that they couldn’t give to Shits about what we need or want. It’s all about what they spend or get out of it. They want our money they want to plunder our childhood’s to get the last penny we have because they’re so desperate for that little bit of money we have that we are trying to save or not spend on junk plastic toys such as we’re getting now thank you for a wonderful video you made me laugh at the end of a very busy workday. Wonderful, looking version of Indy, because you look in better condition than Andy has looked in a long, long long time and no that’s not a shot at anything. You’re in better shape than Ford was in when he did the Temple of doom movie or last crusade because I’m pretty sure F bomb would agree with that. Thanks again.

I had the original Indiana Jones figure from 82 or 83. All of those Raiders figures were in a markdown bin at KB Toys back in the day. Indy's thumb broke off, a common problem with '80s action figures, so I amputated his hand and cut the hand off of the Cairo Swordsman action figure. He had a fully enclosed hand to hold the sword which was perfect for Indy's whip hand. Used mom's emory board to file each down, super glued it on, and it's still there after all these years.
I got the reissue figure off of Amazon a few weeks ago. COMPLETE FAIL. First off they change the face, and none of the accessories neither the gun nor the whip fit in either hand. Why in the world would they change the face and they're not change the hand so that they actually hold the accessories to figure comes with? Admittedly, it probably does look a little more like Harrison Ford now than the original did, but that's not what I wanted. I wanted one that looked like the one I had when I was a kid. The whip is almost the same whip that the original came with. The cone shaped handle and just a piece of string. I think the revolver is the same as the original I'm not sure I lost the originals revolver decades ago. I just don't get why they wouldn't make sure that the accessories fit in the figures hand, but they would go to all the trouble of redesigning the entire face??!!??!
The Boba Fett DROIDS Black Series They came out not long ago is a perfect example of how hands and accessories should be done. The plastic is pliable so that the thumb and fingers don't break, and they are made to hold the accessories You can even put his index finger into the trigger hole of the rifle. Manufacturer should use that as the standard for how they do hands and accessories. As far as the Indy reissue goes, they shouldn't have even bothered with the accessories if they can't fit into his hands.
.. Oh and I almost forgot... The leg holster that was so cool, that like no other figure had a leg holster like that, Yeah on the reissue the gun doesn't fit.
It’s forcing me to have to collect the adventure series which isn’t a scale I normally collect. Why hasn’t Hasbro seen the success of the Star Wars vintage collection and done a similar thing with Indiana Jones? The line in 2008 was good

Its a joke! I took my TOD indy and customized him to perfection of ford from still shots. How could they make so many of these figures so clean? It baffles me how Hasbro is screwing the public
Uhm Temple of Doom is my favourite. Last crusade and Skull are the same. Silly antics with family. Raiders is 10/10 and Temple is 10/10 but I like Temple better and I saw it first so there’s that.
Good to see I'm not missing out on anything due to my personal boycotting of all Hasbro products. I'd rather save my money than spend one dime on anything this company makes. Bobby Vala has my action figure dollars at this point.

@@navymusician822 I think that the people we see on videos might have some input and eagerly participate in making weird decisions, but I am sure there are many more behind the scenes that make even more decisions.
The publicly seen "faces" will be changed when they are no longer useful for the real decision makers.

Thank you for making this video. I really wish Disney and Hasbro would sell their Lucasfilm IPs to companies that actually give a $h!t about the integrity of the lore. Unfortunately, they think that we are all brain dead consumers that will purchase anything they slap a Star Wars or Indiana Jones logo on. These toys, the new movie, and basically everything else that has been produced since Disney bought Lucasfilm is trash. They are marketing products to middle aged men who can afford to spend a hell of a lot more than when it was just their weekly allowance when they were kids, and they put absolute trash on the pegs. It’s another lose-lose situation. The fans lose because they are offered garbage, and Hasbro loses because we won’t buy this $h!t.
