He has gathered a lot of runs with that cover drive in the whole england and australia tour...If u r thinking that because he improve his technique so he will not get out in slips then sorry boss u r underestimating bowlers and test cricket.

His dismissals have more to do with the mental side of the game. He's still doing the same things, as in this video. In 2018 he made better judgements: when to leave and when to play. This time around he's overcommitting to feel the ball on bat.

Well as per an article I read,he is committing lesser % errors than he had in 2018 but is getting caught more,likewise in 2014,he edged one and was out,in 2018 he got a few lifelines at times..like the innings at edgbaston in 2018 where he got a reprieve on 24,51..This time round too,all his edges are being taken.He hasn’t been doing much different than he was in 2018.The same long stride,standing way out of the crease like in 2018(in 2018 his avg bat contact with ball was 2.33 m from stumps,this year it’s 2.34 ig)..His poor form means he wants to middle the balls but isn’t quite able to do that because of the line England are bowling.Also,he has made a slight change from the headingly test with his position of standing and u can see that in jarrod’s video as well).Today might just be the day..if india don’t loose 2-3 wickets in the first hour,and if kohli looks in touch a 100 might just be on the cards today.Flat pitch and with ball turning soft and doing literally nothing,this is Kohli’s biggest chance of scoring a 100 in this series.Fingers crossed🤞

diff is the wicket ball is in good length and good line .but next one is wide and full lenght delivery
Also the fact that his front toe wasn't pointing towards covers in 2014 when he was trying to play outside off instead it was going out straight towards the bowler forcing him to open up and not staying side on whereas in 2018 he was a lot more balanced and side on when Playing balls outside off stump

Well another side to this I feel is,kohli is a little unsure maybe of the inswinger hitting the pads like he was in 2014 and hence he edged…But kohli being kohli,he has changed his stance right in the middle of a series..Before the ball is released,as at headingly and now at oval,he is standing a on the middle and off stump and meeting the ball right under his eyes,outside the off stump.He has nicked both times but those balls were just 🔥.He’s looking more and more confident,I reckon a 100 is just round the corner.Just the little bit of luck he needs going his way.Today might just be the day we have been waiting for for the past year and half..

Irony is, today he got out in the same fashion , as he was getting out in 2014.
He always comes on the front foot to play the cover drive and doesn't get the judgment of the bounce right. And then he realises it isn't a cover drive ball and edges it. The same mistake is happening since a long time.

Dear Akash, you are over analysing a basic change. What he did was just playing late with the swing instead of pushing in the V as preached over the years. In swinging conditions, it's easier to play squarer with the swing. That's the basic awareness he showed.
Still players struggle when ball swing and it isn't basic if it was u would be a cricketer

What a great way to explain
I’ll tell you his weakness - it’s driving. And this becomes amply evident in England where ball swings.
Look at any batsman who scored runs in England - they always cut or pull a good length ball often quick from front foot to back foot. This is the prime reason why Dravid and Lara succeeded in England. Or even look at Root - he barely ever drives the ball.
One should never play a drive especially not a straight or a cover drive in England unless it is over pitched and even then it’s better to play it as a square drive.
The problem with Kohli is he has already a big stride which prevents him from every playing shots square of the wicket.
The reasoning is quite simple - bounce on English wickets is far less variable than in India or even Australia. So while it pays off to play with straight bat there, you are using only the width of the bat to cover the swing. However if you use horizontal bat, you cover the swing far far more.
You forgot to mention Sachin. He was more successful than Lara in England. His backfoot cuts and punches helped him score bagful of runs in England.
@@deepaksurana6809 For me both Tendulkar and Lara are legends. Lara unfortunately has 5 years of career where he lost interest in cricket which clearly shows in his record when he played against those opponents. However Lara’s failure was not a limitation of his technique. He clobbered England before this 5 year lean patch (infact England used to be his bunny). The same when he played them in last 4 years of career.
Tendulkar was compact really compact. Kohli has huge weakness in his technique. Tendulkar and Lara both could pick the length very fast and would play both on front and back foot.
Kohli has already a defecto front foot press which means he is forced to play at balls which he could have left just on length. Most of the balls he knicked, were simply gonna bounce over the top of the stumps or were just too wide. This was also a weakness of Ricky Ponting which is why he suffered terribly in last 5 years of his career.
And while Kohli wants will rejoice at his fifty I’ll just call it a lucky break just like Shami’s fifty. Just like England every team in the world will be watching this weakness of Kohli and make his life hell if continues batting this way, not to mention he’s already 33 which means the odds his technique will change are very low.
He could really take a leaf out Joe root or even Rohit Sharma’s batting.
