    Good timing tips for Honda Accord! Where do you buy that Honda Accord service manual?

    Hey Chris! I drove down about a 1/4 mile and came back noticing a large amount of oil on the ground and I look under my 01 accord and see it dripping from the subframe next to the oil pan and it seems it was coming from the balance shaft seal and I don’t have a jack right now or I would’ve lifted it and checked also before this happened I heard a ticking noise from that area of the engine and it went away right before oil went everywhere so can you please let me know if it’s the balance shaft seal? Thanks in advance!

      You will have to check it to see where the oil is coming from. If it is a balance shaft the timing belt will have oil on it.

    Hi Chris, I had a look at your 1999 Honda Accord timing belt video. I had a question as to the rear balance shaft gear case assembly gasket. Would it be possible to remove the the timing covers without removing the engine mount? Once the covers are off, could I just remove the balance shaft belt and tension er bracket and get straight to the gear case assembly to change the gasket.? I have an oil leak from the rear of the balance shaft, I assume it is coming from there. Once I remove the covers , I can check exactly where it is coming from. Thank you.!!!

      The mount can stay, it may be in the way a bit. The timing belt will get oil on it if it is left in position. It prolly already has oil on it from the oil leak. It would be easier to take it all off and do the leak repair then install a new timing belt.

      Put the balancer on then line up the keyway and slide it in.

    It looks like I have the same type of car as you. I've been having some issues after a timing belt job, and I wondered if there is a way I might be able to talk to you? Just checking.

      @@SavageInsomniacRadio ok I dont think the motor mounts are a issue. If they were replaced then just leave it. If it shakes then the balance shaft needs to be checked. Also the miles are about right to change the spark plugs or a tune up. Has that been done? Starting with the simplist things is the best way. When they do the plugs the compression can be easily checked too. If the plugs are the original ones and they are fried that would be a easy reason for shaking.

      @@SavageInsomniacRadio I am fine just chatting here. Were the plugs changed because of the shaking? The problem needs to be diagnosed properly. No parts till proper diagnosis. Some things must be up to date like the tune up before I would try to narrow down a problem.

      @@SavageInsomniacRadio I have used platinum and iridium spark plugs (ngk or denso) and they work great. A copper spark plug will work but for approx 15k miles. A tune up will include spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor. Also check if oil has contaminated the distributor. It's a common item and replacing the distributor is the way to go. The seal can be replaced but it requires a kit with a bearing. The auto parts don't carry the kit, its available on ebay.

    is it a pain in the ass to replace those balance shaft seals?

    Do the tensioner move up and down once the 14mm bolt is tighten or do they stay in place

    • @chriskolar
      @chriskolar  3 роки тому

      They stay in place
