You do something that most channels don't do, but should. You number all your videos and it makes it so easy to watch them in chronological order. So you can always figure out what happend in what order. NICE!
I go on these streaks of watching then not watching. Back on the wagon! Watching from Michigan here. GO BLUE! And ole blue!
welcome back!!!
Haha same here
Weird, same here. 🚛Hard habit to break.
Encinal.... In-sin-nal.
meaning.. an Oak Grove, an area primarily of Oaks
Want see palm trees? Come to Rio Grande Valley or a few more miles southeast from Laredo. O we towards Brownsville Texas
Those tall palm trees are called Washingtonian pal trees.
I'm partial to night driving. Empty roads and a dash full of lights.
$15 a night!! It cost me $55 a night ($1650 a month mortgage and property tax) for the house I live in, and it doesn’t even take me anywhere!!!
Are you watching trucking with Schmidt live podcast? He's jealous because you went to Texas...lol
Use points to pay for parking at flying j/pilot. Loves don't charge. The places around Houston offer paid parking. But not all spots are paid. TA and Petro on the other hand seem to always charge.
Too bad you didn't go to party at BoysTown in Mexico lol back in the day we had a blast !!
It's nothing like it used to be. My dad brought me over 3 years ago, and we came right back cause it was so sketchy. He would tell me stories about back in his day lol
@TruckerTayus Wow I haven't been there in over 20yrs it used to be crazy no shortage of women and cheap to drink lol
Paid truck parking is not as common in Europe as you might think. There are plenty of countries with truck stops and service areas directly along the freeways that don't charge for parking. For example Spain, Italy, France, Poland, Scandinavia, Central Europe and several more don't usually charge to park as far as I know. Germany and the Netherlands only have it on private truck stops, not along the freeway service areas. The UK might be different though, apparently motorway service areas over there do have a lot of paid parking.
Do not park at night in Houston. I always stayed at Katy Texas about 40 miles from Houston
good job cool video
Nice you came to visit my town of Houston
You were just down the street from me on 87. I'm near where 87 meets I-20.
Those places that charge overnight better have good facilities that include showers and laundry.
Free showers **
Visited Larado back in 1994 on a fly drive holiday from England, went over the bridge to Mexico for about half an hour cost nothing to go over but the Mexicans charged a dollar to return to the US.🇬🇧
#17:00 Highways shots look great light √√
always watching from Indiana....best trucking vids on youtube!!!!
I did the same thing and have a selfie of me years ago "hugging" a saguaro, which is my version of your palm trees. I had to keep getting out of the car to touch them and was wayyyyy, way way excited lol.
Next exit foster rd from that flying j you stop at there’s another flying j that’s a lot bigger but it burn down last summer that I remember good too see you in the area I’ve live since 8 yrs old good old converse/San Antonio tx
Agree with your no-pay parking policy! Thanks for the videos. "Course, they'll make it up someway.
Too bad your driving a semi. You cant get into a Bucees. It’s the best. If you manage to get into one, go for the brisket sandwich. My suggestion is to take an Uber.
Conroe is where my family homestead used to be at. I don't live there anymore but I have two brothers that live in the nearby area. I actually live southwest of Houston. I was hoping you would come up HWY59 which would bring you about a mile near my house on the route. But no, someone wanted to go up IH-10. It's all good. Glad you're enjoying your trip to Texas. Oh, we can easily load a Palm tree on your truck to take back with you!!!
Texas roads are definitely different. And they love bridges. They will put a bridge in the middle of nowhere and then put a bridge over that bridge. ( not really but it seems like it) My wife used to call Texas the land of bridges. I don't miss driving around the big Texas cities at all. It's definitely a beautiful state, very diverse and spread out. The hill country is my favorite.
Texas is a lot of different things, geographically. East is deep pine forest with a lot of rivers and creeks, central is hill country, and south/west is arid and desert land. Most TV and movies seem to be stuck on the desert part. The Rio Grande Valley is really beautiful, though now it has become more dangerous. Spectacular farming operations along the Rio Grande. Yes, even some palm trees.
Glad you hugged your beloved palm tree... Take care and drive safely Trucker Josh.
🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
The other guys load was lighter than your's.
I don't mind some paid parking but not all paid parking. I can also understand the business owners side of it too. Drivers don't spend money in truckstops like they used to. Some times we as drivers park there to sleep and don't buy fuel or spend any money in the truckstop. Just sleep and move on because we don't need fuel right then. Then there are the pigs out there that throw all their trash in the parking lot that someone has to clean up. So I can understand them charging to park to recoop some of that money but also $15-$18 a night is just being gready. I remember back in the late 70's early 80's up in the New England states the truck stops had like 2hrs free parking, if you stayed longer than that you had to buy a certian amount of fuel or you had to pay to get back out of the parking lot.
Glad you got to hug a palm tree, I'll be hugging palm trees at the end of this month.
Hope you're feeling better. You're young you can kick the sickness out the door.
Stay safe
I’ve stayed in Laredo many times. No worries or problems
Your comment about not seeing lines on the road in San Antonio cracked me up - I live there and it’s one of my major complaints.
That traex truck straight up cut you off. But bottom line most Texan truckers carry handguns.
Right now is definitely not a great time to drive in San Antonio construction everywhere new lines 6-12 inches away from each other fun fun fun
Hey Josh
Hi 👋 Josh 🌴 Nice to see different country side.Enjoy the warm 😮vist..Come to us in Edmonton were in warm spell now Jan.30th.2024 @12.4 Record..Last week @ -35 🥶 GodBless to you & Family From the Peanut 🥜 allergy Jan.31.2024
Goodmorning Josh
Hopefully your feeling better
we call those side roads access roads. makes things a little easier for us.
So glad you were able to see your palm trees. I thought it was great you hugged the palm tree. Pretty sure I saw it smile to you and hugged you back. Probably gets pretty lonely staying in the same spot all your life being ignored by everyone. ❤ Hope you're feeling better. Love to you all💕
I watched your taxes run and yes I love going down there
Check your trailer for "stow aways"
i'm 15 minutes into the vlog. i'm predicting either later in this vlog or next one will be mostly about Houston crazy traffic/drivers !!! LOL
Should see the palm trees in Los Angeles
We were in Laredo at the same time. I’m from Detroit but my wife was born and raised in Laredo. Stayed there for two weeks for Christmas and New Year then came home(Detroit) the 2nd.
South Texas is not a very safe area for truckers. My husband avoided it.
Just a hint: probably not a great idea to walk around in the dark in Laredo... Glad you're having fun.
Snowing here on east coast Canada getting 15 cm, changing to rain , nothing serious, atypical winter so far, not much accumulation on the ground so far this year.
Drove 1700 miles to go to Walmart.
Hi Josh, I'm a long time subscriber from Brazil. I think I have been watching your videos (on and off, mostly UA-cam's fault lol) since like 2013. I find so interesting your fascination with palm trees. Where I live we have it everywhere to the point I haven't really noticed them. Since you mentioned it in the recent videos I started to notice they are everywhere -- like in the garden in the condo I live, for example.
Hi Josh. = Companies right off those pay spots. = Another way to drive out O / O I fear!!
Take i35 to US 59 to Houston and you won’t need to go through San Antonio. Better route
Thanks for another great video. Love the Palm Trees also. Drive safe.
Welcome to H-Town Josh! Born and Raised here myself. Hope the traffic wasn't too bad but i guess ill see tomorrow!
Josh, Thank you for taking us along on your trucking adventure from Manitoba to southern Texas. Your practical and professional approach is admirable. For a non trucker like myself it 's very interesting from your personal perpective. Reaching out you from New Brunswick.
Thanks for taking us along.
I like going to Texas. Last trip i went to south padre islands and i too was excited about seeing palm trees
Hi Josh. Did you get a back haul for home. Safe travels home. Hope you and blue enjoyed the warmer weather.
Josh please come back and get these 🥶 temps and you can probably get a palm tree in return
I would trade that palm tree for for a Great Canoe Adventure in the Canadian wilderness
Be glade it's not summer you would be looking at timps for over 100 degrees fairnhight around 55 C
Well, that’s not really surprising you’re right on the border of Mexico there
I have crossed Texas many times in a car. From Texarkana to San Angelo. Some of those truck stops are old and small. They are even tight for cars.
It's kinda funny seeing my area on your channel oh BTW the sound of the lights that buzzing sound is common down here lol
The Canadian is melting 😂
You could've probably taken US 59 to Conroe. I looked on google maps. As an aside ... a way to avoid paying Kansas tolls is to take US 75 through Oklahoma. My brother attended the University of North Texas in Denton. You passed through it. It's where you took I 35 W toward Fort Worth. Just a thought. Admittedly I do not drive big rigs for a living. Though my Dad is a retired geodesist for the DoD. So, I grew up knowing how to read maps.
"grey area", you crack me up. Like my uncle's running commentary of others driving 😅.
9pm delivery, nice. Missed all the traffic.
Watching from the UK... Enjoying yr journeys... Cheers! 🇬🇧
Josh, i started watchig you when you met Jade and John. And also Allie Knight. I just got my Class A CDL mid December. Thanks for makng these videos and inspiring me. Sometime these videos mean a lot to somebody....
I used to watch Allie Knight, fun riding along with her, the cat. And dog.
@@JudyHart1I miss Allie Knight. I was around three years or so she stopped trucking, right? I loved to see when she drove around the US, and enjoying the view. I can’t remember why she stopped
Damn Josh, didn't take you for a tree hugger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHA
youtube must have unsubbed me, I was subbed and an avid watcher back in the diesel days. glad to see you are doing so well brother! much love from good ole sarnia ontario
No Dog Lone Star Vlog!
Ayeee im from laredo, hope u enjoyed some whatab while u were here, since it was right next to your droppp
Well, trucker Joooosssshhh. Winter must have followed you down here. Going to be 17F here in the Houston area early next week. Wish ida known you were coming thru. I live between Houston and Conroe on I45. Safe travels back north to you.
Hey Josh, been watching your videos for god knows how long and I'm a truck driver in the UK. I always see job adverts for Canadian companies looking for British drivers, well they're probably looking for everyone but I only see those adverts lol. I'm thinking about doing it, I currently drive all over Europe, out on the road for up to 4 months at a time and driving in the US/Canada has always been a dream of mine. Do you have any tips?
Hi Scott, I’m an expat now in Toronto. Was trucking in UK since 2009, it’s totally different here and don’t believe the hype it being easy to get a job and a passport here it’s not! Also driving in winter is a whole different ball game with temperatures and conditions like nothing we get back home. Don’t want to put you off your dream just being honest. I’d highly suggest a holiday here first and see first hand how it goes. I don’t know about owner operators money but the company money here is not great and it’s crazy expensive to live (especially Toronto) . Driving is way easier than Europe though with huge roads and everything is N,E,S or west, no silly tight roads like home in UK. Best wishes mate hope you achieve what you want 🤞🏻
is the light making that buzzing sound
Hi, take care Josh. The best of truck driver to Canadá! 🍁 with the old blue.🎉
I think those are overgrown palmettos. Palm trees are like the ones on your shoulder/arm. I am new here and very much enjoy your vlog because you are very considerate to others on the road and know words that are longer then four letters and do not include MF. 😊 However, watching you wrestle with costing out overnight parking, I get the impression that you know five out of four people are not good at math....
Josh tiene una cabeza de papa.
Where abouts are you going to put the front skirting on for the anticipated cold weather? Thanks for sharing Josh.
Trucker Josh, love your channel. I live in Houston and next time you are through, would love to buy you a cup of coffee. Safe Travels!!
Sounds great!
Never fear Alvin is here, Josh, you should add a smaller palm tree to the two you have then they could represent you, Brit and Theo just a thought take care bud get well soon, Alvin
watching josh deal with texas drivers 😂
What do they call palm trees in Alberta/ Winnipeg/ Saskatchewan
It's sad that truck stops are charging parking fees. They are built for semi truck drivers to have parking when their hours of driving are used up for the day yet I have seen many where 4 wheelers, truck with campers and other vehicles park in semi truck spots leaving them no place to park. I know some rvs are large like semi trucks so I will defer from chiding them. I wish there were more truck stops for the drivers and more waysides with larger parking areas for them as well. Just my honest opinion.
Hi Josh, love the Vlogs, on overnight parking charges here In the United Kingdom rates are around $48 per night and for that very basic temporary toilets and showers and unpaved truck parks. A good one with top services charges £40, but gives you a £7.50 food voucher. Bet you glad you live in North America
POV when a Canadian sees a palm tree... hello friend, a Texas person what is that guy doing? It's just a tree.
🤣🤣
🤣🤣@@Trucker_Josh
Glad to hear you made it to Laredo and back safely. I wonder what weather situation you are currently experiencing. Here in SE Wisconsin, we just got a blast of winter. Its been a long time coming. I'd be interested to know if Old Blue ever visited a Blue Beacon before you hit Canada again.
learn to plan ahead for your route
❤
Did your dad ever drive down the United States
where is diesel?
You pay property tax.... isn't that paying for your bed?
The scary part of it it’s not even California bro ….
That’s BS man you shouldn’t have to pay for sleeping when you has a badass W9 like OL Blue❤ god bless you and your Family
Safe trucking josh and happy New Years to you and your family
How much do you pay for that garage to park your truck in every month
Re UA-cam and Patreon, It's unwise to put all your eggs in one basket, so maybe consider an alternative backup. Also YT is getting huge amount of flack because of inappropriate adverts. Subs seem to be suffering as a result.
Pronounced "Flat toinal"
Hi hi
Josh were you ever nervous whenever you first started trucking over the road and how did you go about obtaining your CDL?
His Dad, Martin drives for the same company (so does an Uncle).... that's how He got into it. And His Dad was his trainer.
@@pistolannie6500Oh okay. Been watching him for years and didn’t know that. Thanks for the reply.
@@ExtendoSmith No Prob. Don't remember the Uncle's name.... but n a vlog back... mmm 🤔..couple of months ago??. He actually discovered He was (2? trucks) behind that Uncle in a line up of trucks waitin to be loaded in the SAME place 😄. That's how I knew bout the Uncle. (there are several children n His father's family).
Have a good'n! 🤓
I find it funny you refuse to pay a measly $15 to park when you spend money left, right and centre on "stuff" at home
Those parking spots should be Free to truckers
What’s it got to do with you how he spends his money
I guess you are rich and can afford to pay $4,500.00 a year to sleep good for you
Smart people save money when possible without jeopardizing important things. The way Josh explained his view... He's 100% correct I.M.O.
And then wants us to pay for early access
People are in a hurry to go nowhere fast. It’s just the way people are. And the say human are the intelligent ones, are ou sure?
Be careful Josh a lot of crazy stuff goes on in Texas.
Florida's got Texas beat by miles in the crazy department.😄
@@jacobravenwood7968Laredo ain't the BEST of places in Texas tho. Bein So close to the mexico border.
