    Jim Howard Kuntsler, author
"Think you know the ""ins and outs""of planning? James Kuntsler's provocative insights will expand your thinking a little further. You won't need a masters in urban planning to understand where he's coming from.
Included in Kuntsler's portfolio are the breakthrough books, The Geography of Nowhere, and its sequel, Home from Nowhere. Using history, architectural theory, and his own observations, Kuntsler wrestles with everything from the growth of suburbs and dependence on automobiles, to the decline of American cities. He documents which cities are planning to reduce urban sprawl and cites Portland's remarkable Urban Growth Boudary.
This Friday Kuntsler will focus on remedies for replenishing the tragic, man-made landscape of the United States. That Kuntsler has no formal training in architecture or the related design fields make his findings interesting to anyone whose concern is managing growth.
An East Coast native, Kuntsler graduated from State University in New York and worked as a staff writer for Rolling Stone Magazine until 1975, when he left to write books on a full-time basis.
Join us for an enlightening forum on designing the future American landscape."

I always agreed with JHK ,I grew up in the Burbs and always felt really isolated, I could never visit or hang out with friends, since getting rides was impossible. I hate the Suburbs even decades later
