    I bought the mini for bass, and I love it. It does everything I need for both live and studio uses. No one pedal will do everything, and that's including a multi-effects pedal or a cab/amp simulator. It's simply a tool, and it should be used along with other tools in setup to achieve the sound and playability that you want.

    in the end head to head test, just high cut the ampero's cab or IR to anywhere between 6k to 12k. To achieve what the actual head sounds like.

Ive been trying to find things to nag me about this unit but so far none. I love the cost and the quality and form factor as i do not want to lug around such heavy equipment anymore. love you Taylor !!

    Your comment about mic position is correct. A speaker is a circle (99%) of the time. A line from the center to the edge and distance away from the cone is all you need. The Y axis on a circle (up and down) makes no sense. As if you spin the circle the X axis is all you need. I tried explaining this to Hotone years ago, finally it sunk in.

    • @BrunoidGames
      @BrunoidGames 3 місяці тому

      I guess it makes sense for 4 speakers, you can put your mic in one corner delaying the sound of the opposite corner speaker. What do you think about it?
      I saw this mic config with real cabinets.

      @@BrunoidGames Draw a circle. Put a mark anywhere on the circle. Spin the circle while holding a pen to your mark. You have just drawn another circle. You can put a mic anywhere on that new circle and it will sound the same.
      Draw a straight line from the center to your mark. Spin the circle so that the line is horizontal. That is all you need to position a mic, the x-axis. Now you need the z-access to get the distance from the cone. That is it.
      I don't get what you are saying about delays and 4 speakers. Cabs are miced up on one speaker no matter how many speakers are in the cab.

    • @BrunoidGames
      @BrunoidGames 3 місяці тому

      @@tiomkinnyborg2289 The further away from the speaker, the greater the sound delay from that speaker. If you place the mic in the bottom left corner, for example, you will have a greater distance from the speaker in the opposite corner. These milliseconds of difference will make up the sound. Sorry if I'm not clear.. I'm not a native english speaker. Thanks for your advice.

      @@BrunoidGames Ah, I get what you mean. You are correct. Your English is as good as everyone else's. I just listen to the sound. If it sounds good then it is good. My original point was Hotone made a needlessly complex method of virtual mic placement. The new models have fixed that.

      In the long run, I must admit, that I didn't succeed in dialing in many tones, that I really like over a longer period of time. I started playing my Nux MP2 stick again, where I have some high gain tones I actually like better. Maybe the Ampero needs third party IRs, that's what I heard many people say, but I didn't install any so far. Atm, I still like to use it as it is with bass though.

    Interesting. The savage mkii seems to be the darkest and thickest, with the stomp 2 having a mid boost, and then the mini not only having that same mid boost as the 2, but also less low end. I wonder if that's a product of (I set the mids to 50%/12o'clock on every source) the difference being that 50%/12o'clock on every source is slightly different? As far as characteristics, it does sound like they're both doing great jobs at emulating the real thing though, so it basically just comes down to budget, I/O, and the intuitiveness (or lack thereof) of the UI at this point. Sick!

    Just bought the Mini for $180 shipped. I think for a total beginner like me, the II Stomp's signal path and other options would confuse me more so than the Mini and at more than twice the cost for things that I prob won't even need in the foreseeable future when learning guitar. And at $180 the effects and ease of use is quite justified for the cost.

    You're quite good at doing this.
    I just wish that you played sounds with more musical content and less emphasis on distorted signals. This isn't about musical tastes (different strokes, etc.), it's about what kind of sounds best display similarities and differences. Lots of distortion makes different things sound more alike and hides lots of subtlety.
    IMO your comparison would be better with a greater range of musical content... but maybe that's just me. Whatcha think?
