I was a kid in the 70’s, and there was a Jeep-AMC dealership in my home town. I got to see those Amx, and Javilin’s new. The special paint RWB cars were awesome!! Love these cars!!!
Dennis, Way back in 1976 I worked for Marty Rubenstein owner of Marty R's AMC on Garland road, Garland TX. I started out as a porter and worked my way into the parts department. Occasionally one of the "cool" AMC cars would come through the shop. One of my favorites was a Mark Donohue Special in dark blue. It was bought there new by an airline stewardess. Aside from the paint being in poor shape due to it's being parked outside for long periods of time, it was immaculate. Very low miles as would be expected. One of the long time mechanics there, (Charlie Warden) drove a gold '69 AMX needless to say it was perfect. We also had a little old lady that brought her car in for service every 3 months. She drove a '57 Rambler Ambassador in pink. Dallas PD also used AMC's those to had the 401. Me ? I drove a silver with blue striping '73 Gremiln X Levis. Enjoy your channel, all the best...
Had a 74 javelin for 33 years , blown, tubd, cage, 964 hp/ 9 sec. BEAST,,,,! Sold it.. :( now building a 70 AMX.. w 401. Cant wait to get it done.. love that sound of 73,, great video btw.. keep up the great work! Ps... nice pants... 😂
Every time I see an AMX I remember the commercial for them. The son brings it home and dad saying "There's no back seat!" It was an extremely cool time for cars. Saw AARP 'Cuda's at the dealership in '71 when dad took us shopping for a new car. Ended up with a Satellite Sebring Plus, because "Family" but Dad took me out and ran it up to 140 to "Clean the plugs". Things I'll never forget.
I bought a new 1967 Rambler American 2dr sedan with the 290, 4 spd, twin grip, pwr. steering and pwr. brakes. When it was delivered, we installed the factory Crane cam kit, headers and dual exhaust for an AMX (same floor pan)! It sounded much like your '73 Javelin! I also ordered factory 4:44.1 rear gears but neve installed them. It was a quick little beast but that cam was way too much for the cubic inches and it tended to run a little rich. Sure wish I had it back. The next year the offered the 343 in the American and I was pissed! Thanks for letting us see these two AMC's
I remember my 71 AMX. The easiest car I ever owned to put headers on. Used Thrush header mufflers, remember those? Dennis' suit is a good match for the Pierre Cardin AMX.

If I remember right, Discovery Ch. was talking to him about his own show when Fast n’ Loud was a big hit. I don’t know what the big hang up was and why it didn’t go forward.
Hello Dennis In the 70’s, I had a brochure/ catalog from AMC on their racing program. Including pro-stock engine’s , all parts used, machining required. Unfortunately, I loaned it to a friend who was building a modified jeep, never to be seen again. Enjoy your Coffee Walk, best on YT.

I had a chance to buy a 1970 Trans Am red white and blue 390 4 speed ram air javelin. ( one out of one hundred built) it had been painted white because the original owner didn't like the attention it was getting. (police) The gentleman died and his family did not want to part with it. he also had a 1963 corvette that he never drove. he enjoyed driving the Javelin more. he lived just a mile from my house. to me that car is the HOLY GRAIL of all the Javelin's. thank you Dennis for lending a voice for the AMC loving community. I worked at the main AMC plant in Kenosha in 73! I probably helped put that engine together, on the engine line! What was surprising was how many police special 401's went thru the line to be put in Matadors, forged cranks, and heavy duty parts all! If you can find one of those Police 401 engines, you have a good start!
Nice cars, a recent post too. I have always been an AMC fan mainly the AMX and Javelin. Owned a 1970 AMX 390 V8 automatic and a 1970 Javelin 304 V8 3 speed on floor. That is not the wide automatic car brake pedal, that is the 4-speed brake pedal, and one must pause and look close, but the Clutch Pedal is there, it's just all the way down on the floor almost out of sight.

I do have some pictures but not many . I was back in the 70s . If you have an email address I will forward them to you . Those javelins handles so damn well on the street you cannot believe it .

AMX one of the least known factory hotrods built in the USA.
I wish I never sold my 69. 🙁
From here in Europe reading Road & Track etc we never understood why AMC were never bigger than they were. To me & my friends eyes at the time they made some great cars, on paper, competing with the bigger names.
@@vitalaza866 the gas problems of the 70s and 80s really screwed amc over, then they had the misfortune to be bought out by Renault, then even less fortunately Chrysler. In a way you could say they live on through Jeep, but not really since they've finally replaced the old AMC I6
@@KrikZ32 Now they own mb in part? Last good year of those to buy was 02 nothing but crap quality issues since, gee Im not surprised.
Bout time, somebody did something on the AMX, grew up with AMC's in the driveway and still love them to day!
Owner of a Cardin AMX here, mine's a P Code jet black car....thanks so much for this!!!! What a lot of people don't know is that in the last two years of Javelin Production, they outsold the Challenger or Barracuda,
I was a kid in the 70’s, and there was a Jeep-AMC dealership in my home town.
Had a 74 javelin for 33 years , blown,tubd,cage, 964 hp/ 9 sec.
BEAST,,,,! Sold it.. :( now building a 70 AMX.. w 401. Cant wait to get it done.. love that sound of 73,, great video btw.. keep up the great work!
Ps... nice pants... 😂
Shiver down my spine when you fired up the Javelin. Absolutely beautiful vehicle ❤️
Hehe.... When I had my 68 AMX, I was always having to tell people that "Yes, AMC built a two-seater!"
140 in a sebring?
I had a 71 Javelin SST that I wish I still had. That car was a good handling fun to drive car, it's been exactly 40 years ago!
Thanks for this.as a car guy those AMC were cool.. pretty good road racers to..lost history with AMC
Two of my all time favorite cars in one picture. The AMX Javelin Pierre Cardin Edition AND the Jeep Grand Wagoneer Limited in Blue. Holy smokes what a video.
Beautiful. My first new car was a ‘73 AMX, 360. Of course, the first thing I did was a Crane cam, and headers, because that’s what you did in 1973...
Super sweet! My elementary school principal’s secretary drove a forest green with a hurst T shifter.
Man I loved that car! At only 9 yrs I loved that Car and the secretary was pretty easy on the eyes as well!
Early adolescence!
Like runnin a racehorse in its stall. lol
Javelin was my very favorite car, when l was a boy.
I was 11 years old when these sweethearts came out a l still love em.
Thanks for the memories.
GREAT VIDEO.. wow does that ever bring back a lot of memories now 55 we used to drive AMX Javelin back in high school red black interior wow pretty cool car John from winterpeg Canada
Love the way that thing sounds!!!
Yeah, not gonna lie.. I got a little turned on by t thump th Javelin had..
What a beautiful Javelin. You all are making me miss mine from the early 70's. Thanks for sharing.
We love you Dennis!! I make a cup of coffee every morning and watch coffee walk! I recently Inherited a 31 Ford model A coupe and a 55 Chevy Bel Air convertible from my grandfather that passed away. That made me get super interested in cars and I have been watching all of your videos ! Love you buddy keep up the good work!!
I'll buy that 31 if you decide to sell :)
I have always liked the quirky American Motors offerings. Must admit i was kinda lonely, but you just proved my point! And I had no idea these examples even existed! Thanks my friend!
Test drove a 69 AMX with the "go package" when I was about to turn 16. My dad wouldn't let me have it as he said I'd never see 17.
Lookin' back on it do ya think that he was probably right? (& be honest please!). Out of curiosity, what ended up as bein' your first car then?
I was 10 in late 1969. What a awesome time in history! I may be getting old, but I wouldn't change a single thing! I LOVE Muscle Cars!💯💖🇺🇲😎...
💥 FORDEVER & EVER BABY!!💥
Wow....just Wow!!! You either loved or hated the AMC cars....I personally, loved them!! Thank you for the video, and man that is unreal!!!
I had a friend that recently sold his SS/AMX that his dad's AMC dealership ordered and raced. He had all of the documentation for the car, plus pictures of it being delivered.
Hello, may I ask which S/S AMX that was? Thanks
Livin' the dream. Rips through the parking lot. Sweet!
So knowledgeable, watched with headphones and almost blew my ears off. Thanks Dennis brilliant. 😂
Thank You Dennis! Fond memories. Growing up, Tim's brother Jeff had a 68' Javelin SST 390 Dual Quad. His pride and joy. And yes very true. Hardly a gun fight was ever lost. I was witness to a great one. That guy got his ass handed to him with the 3 of us in the car!!
Dennis needs a full hour weekly show on prime tv. People might actually learn something
No way.. Its more real on utube.. TV is all fake..
Coffee Hour
If I remember right, Discovery Ch. was talking to him about his own show when Fast n’ Loud was a big hit. I don’t know what the big hang up was and why it didn’t go forward.
@@evolati12 because he doesn't want fake drama in his life..
Nope he does not if he was on prime time Tv it would be scripted to death.
Hello Dennis
In the 70’s, I had a brochure/ catalog from AMC on their racing program.
Including pro-stock engine’s , all parts used, machining required.
Unfortunately, I loaned it to a friend who was building a modified jeep, never to be seen again.
Enjoy your Coffee Walk, best on YT.
My Dad had a new 68 Ambassador so I spent a bunch of time in a AMC. Good video...
I was an American Motors fan from back in the day My cousin had a Rambler Scrambler that we would go terrorize the cruisin strips on Fri/Sat nites. A lot of fun growing up in the late 60’s & early 70’s!
That jimmy walker car is amazing!
Not complaining but im used to dennis being so knowledgeable normally the videos arent edited.. just 1 informative take.. weird to see so many cuts in this vid. Again not complaining.. as these videos are great! Always click on them as soon as i get notified! 👍
Got to say missed this one the other week but wow out of all the stuff you have shown us with the old muscle cars
These two take the cake
That last one is an absolute treasure 👍👍😍😍😍
These are a one off, super rare, one of one 💯
I owned. 73 AMX. loved it
I love your love of AMC! Great stuff Dennis and thanks for the video!
They are works of art for sure!My faveorite is the 71 coke bottle body!
Dennis, today while I was driving in my blue 1980 CJ7 with the top and doors off and blasting “Born In the USA”, a bald eagle landed on my roll bar. I had no idea that I was about to be outdone.
Very nice. Always love the exhaust sound of a built AMC 71 and later V8. Not sure if it is the dogleg exhaust ports....but it is distinctive.
My cousin had a red/white/blue Mark Donahue 390/4speed. Buddy of mine still has it but she’s rough.
Cool cars for sure.
Is it for sale?
@@michaelbrownie7718 I doubt it, but I can find out. It hasn’t run/driven in years.

The 3800 series 2 motor in the Buick Lesabres/Park Avenues are arguably some of the best most reliable (bullet proof) motors ever produced even to this day. You should do a video on them! :)
You are the man Dennis, cars like those people tend to forget about. Thank you and your crew for bringing them to us brother. Made In the USA.
My dad had a Levi’s edition 73 hornet. He worked for AMC in Hamilton. He ordered the car and had it built for him. He watched that car being built before his eyes. 304 three speed Hurst shift kit and dual exhaust. That was a cool ass car!
Do you have any photos? Sounds awesome
Uncle was an AMC dealer back in 60's 70's always had the cool car, still looking for that special AMX to bring back memories.
I'll find one one day
Incredible amazing one of a kind 🤗
hi dennis saying hello from ireland they sure are two rare cars they are mint goes to show there are still rare finds out there great videos keep up the great work
Love the jacket that’s just cool
I'd like Dennis to wear it every week !
I want one to wear to work
@@benruether8294 Hope you don't work with any leftists, they will get offended.
@@nathankoroush7918 i am a leftist, why would i get offended?
I have some history with AMC and this video nearly brought me to tears. Can't wait to find video of what has become of that RWB/AMX.
You got Richard beat with that suit!
Only ever seen an AMX in magazines, not sure if any were ever imported into England. Stunning car.
RAMBLER RANCH IN COLORADO, HE HAS THEM ALL
sounds like you just added two new rides to your collection? can't wait to see you lighten the front end of your red white and blue!!! looking forward to it! And Thanks for Sharing!
This guy is hoarding up Grand Wagoneers too. I bought a sweet 88 GW in 2006 for $4,750. Same GW is going for 6-7 times that $ now.
I own a 1973 Javelin. It's a P- code 360 B/W 4 speed console with the rarer 15 inch rally wheels with volcano caps. Rescued it from 16 years of sitting in a barn at a walnut orchard. took a year to get her back on the road. Love the car. Always will. Keep up the good work on finding these great orphaned cars!!!
Mine is a 1973 AMX I’ve had since delivered from the factory..
Had a70 AMX hunter green with the white stripe it was a corvette killer wish i never sold it
@@bobmay9887 in 1970 it was called Glen Green... Hunter green was 1968 and 1969..... I have a 1970 Glen Green AMX with 42,000 miles on it... 390 4 spd...... It was previously owned by Dick Teague who designed the car... It is all original show car... I have owned it since 1982.... I will be offering it for sale this year but it won't be cheap.... shoulda bought 2 ! ;)

I love this episode, In 1975 I was in the USAF in Minot ND and had a 1973 green AMX with the 401 in it but mine was a step above the one you have, mine was the 4 speed and was built from the factory as a race car, lol ND did not know it was not supposed to be a street car lol, from a Grateful that I want to say thank you for a great memory
Jimmy walker was my grandfather, man I wish he never sold it
Hello @Jameson Walker, would love to hear or see anything you might care to share about the history of the Jimmy Walker S/S AMX. Can provide contact info if you might be so inclined. Let me know, Thanks
Wow,that sucks...I know exactly how it feels to have a family member tear a really cool car that I grew up with
from my grasp...(he was dead set on me not having it and after I put loads of time and money into it,he sold it)
@@ytwhite5930 I hear you man ! Here’s a good one...My 43 year old son has a 63 impala convertible that I helped him get when he was 18 . He has 3 young boys he’s saving it for ! It’s already restored!
Dennis your knowledge is unbelievable, l love the fact you know all the correct details.. keep up the amazing work.
You've officially redeemed yourself from hanging out at the gas monkey garage. Super cool
He never needed redemption Dennis was a class act on Fast and Loud just like he is here. Just because you think Richard is a tool bag doesn't mean Dennis thinks so.
I’m the 1 first in UK 🇬🇧 👍👍👍👍👍

Nice cars, a recent post too. I have always been an AMC fan mainly the AMX and Javelin. Owned a 1970 AMX 390 V8 automatic and a 1970 Javelin 304 V8 3 speed on floor. Right now I have a super nice 1974 International Custom 100 pickup 1/2 ton with the factory Installed AMC 401 V8. Automatic, duel exhaust with the Dana 354 Rear end. Bought the truck because it had the great AMC engine in it. Not very many of these seen around. Very much AMC related.
Dennis, why's the Jimmy Walker car got a wide auto style brake pedal, and where's the clutch pedal?
That is not the wide automatic car brake pedal, that is the 4-speed brake pedal, and one must pause and look close, but the Clutch Pedal is there, it's just all the way down on the floor almost out of sight.
@@olsketchmo my apologies. It looked wide enough to be the auto pedal to me when I couldn't readily see the clutch pedal.
I had a 73 Amx in g4 paint for 7 years. Was a trouble free car.was 3 yrs old with 53k.miles,in almost new condition. Was stupid to part with it but a good friend pestered me to sell it.Dad sold Amcs for 10 years at Colonial amc.Brother had a Hornet 304, ran good. Thanks for the video.
So glad he didn't go out on the streets in that suit.
Lol ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
it's Texas he would have been fine.
Thank you Dennis for your enthusiasm and respect for American Motors. I've always loved American Motors automobiles and really appreciate what they did on a shoestring budget compared to the big three. Richard Teague was an incredible designer who is so overlooked. My dream car is the 1969 AMX and my guilty pleasure is the Gremlin.
Dennis where is Jim Morrison's mustang? If anybody knows it's you.
I haven't thought about "The Blue Lady" in a long time:) The accounts I read all say Morrison never went back for it after he wrecked it - and he was known for doing stuff like that. Only prayer for it is that someone bought it from a police impound auction.
Seems like I say this Everytime I watch one of these but Dennis's mind is like a supercomputer on car knowledge!
Dennis you by far is one of coolest guys that I watch on here and very knowledgeable when it comes to vin#s you rock my brother.
