You sure make Richard look bad by helping your guy load up that vett.
Please don't step over a taught winch cable. Would be weird having to call you Denise 😧
Rule #1 Don't run over Karen's sprinkler heads. Rule #2, circle back around to see if Karen needs a foot rub once the crew leaves. LOL
They should have invited her to go eat with them........
No one would like to get there sprinkers ran over by some car resellers...
Ole Karen taking pictures of everyone for police record..no its just a beautiful car! Lol
Karen got the whole neighborhood outside
There’s always a Karen trying to control a situation 🤦🏻♂️
It's got the six taillight option.😂
@@eddean6663naw custom fad in 60s with a dealer bought 2 taillights for 20 bucks and a third new. One take out back up light AND PIGTAILS
I think who ever is taking the truck out that day is responsible for checking over the truck making sure it is well equipped .
Yeah, a proper pre trip....
Or carry dupe equipment in both rigs. Lunch trays are vheeep
@@gerry-p9x I've used lunch trays more than a few times. Great little cheat for moving a stuck car.
14:57 Mayhap Dennis' next investment should be a tilt-bed trailer to get rid of the aggravation of lining up ramps when brakes are locked up. It would also make the trailer more adaptable with smaller wider vehicles.
I've always wondered why he doesn't have one.
Or a rollback truck with a wheel lift!
Or just take the wheel off then the rotor or drum put the wheel back on........why struggle.
@@lukasgarage956 So....the added labor of jacking it up, pull the wheel, pull the drum/CALIPER then re-install the wheel is less struggle than tilting a trailer bed which, with Dennis' resources, would invariably be hydraulic?
@@amadeo_serrano ja sure dude .....but how many uploads have you seen these guys go through this same thing.......sure a tilt trailer is the way to go ......but no trailer pull the damn wheel and move on.
Doing this on a weekly basis , and denis being a vry smart guy 😂 you would think they would have caught on to buying 4 serving trays to put under the wheels to slide it really easy onto the trailer
Or dollies, and a pneumatic jack, a solar panel for the winch's battery, and some universal wheels. Or better yet, a rotating flatbed... With his resources, that's what I would do.
19:20
Personally, It would have been faster to just jack it up , which I see they did once, but I assume this is a drum brake car, so just takes a little adjustment of backing off the brake adjusters. The sam way they gonna have too do once they get it in the shop.Thats the first thing I would try, and I have bought and loaded far less cars as Dennis
Why not just a car dolly?? Pull the front tires onto the dolly and the back wheels were rolling. Problem solved. If you worry about the transmission it takes 10 minutes to drop the drive shaft. Problem solved.
Parked in 94? Thats only 29 years Dennis lol
I believe he said '92' but, still Dennis' math skills at 5 am are a bit lacking! 🤣🤣
@@dougt5357 You're not wrong there sir!
You left us hanging. What was the outcome with the neighbor?
Zach is back! We missed you! Love your trademark water tower!
Happy times are here again!
He was only gone for one week 🤣
@@christopheraragon1813 Yeah, but did you watch those two videos? Glad he was only gone for one week
That seller has definitely done acid in his day
The seller was on acid that day also😅
Whoever is driving the truck /trailer should always be responsible to check that all basic items necessary for loading are contained on /in the truck. No exceptions or excuses. The five minutes that this would take can save hours of problems. This protocol is an absolute necessity , as you just found out! Also, while the driver is checking for trays, rollers, jacks, etc., he should also check for flashlights, tools, and the state of the battery on the wench! No matter who else is supposed to do this, the driver will always suffer if it’s not done, so surely he needs to be the responsible party.
“I think its a fair deal you are paying what my dad did” god those words shot me down lmao what a steal this must’ve been 😭
you mean then or now?
Same thing I was thinking. He stole that car.
Seller bought a running/driving car, and Dennis did not.
Parked in 92 but has a 08 plate. 🤔
I saw that as well.
OUTSTANDING AS ALWAYS! Merry Christmas to you ALL!
You would think one of you would be smart enough to smack the drums with a hammer while the winch has a pull on it.
that was exactly what i was thinking. and the mechanic said it took them only 10 minutes to get them loose. and also it was only 3 of the crew including the cameraman on this trip. they might have been going nuts trying to get away from the talkative owner
8:00 Dennis ignoring the seller's ramblings and focused on the particulars ..
yep. Not interested in any back stories or history this time. A bit rude really surprisingly. And the finger pointing should include himself. He is the boss after all and has done this enough times to know he should check to make sure the guys have everything in the trucks etc.....that they need.
Agree. Also, with the type and volume of business Dennis does, you would think he could afford to invest in some decent equipment to load up his cars.@@darrylcampbell4411
Some people just don't shut and you have to ignore them or get nothing done.
@@darrylcampbell4411 it was disappointing to watch - could have listened patiently and then edited it out and also paid a bit more for it
I think your all wrong . Dennis listened even when he doesn't want to . He has respect an he wants to know the back story on every vehicle he buys .
The main thing I don’t like about the convertible Corvette if you don’t get that beautiful stingray look in the back
If you ever have a car with locked up brakes like that, you can try cutting the brake hoses to release pressure. Old brake hoses collapse internally which makes them behave as if they're one way valves preventing the brakes from releasing. So a cut as close to the wheel as possible is your best bet. It's not guaranteed, but I've found that it works more often than not. Besides any car sitting 20+ years needs new hoses anyway.
Also a few hits on the backing plates, if drum . If disk beat on the calipers
Agree but the seller might not like the mess.
thanks for that tip. makes good sense
So no one is answering my question. What happened to Alex?
By God this guy never stopped yappin
The seller was stellar in getting in the way. Absolutely no situational awareness. How does someone let this car, any car, get into this condition?
Believe when I tell ya. You need to get some plastic food trays to put underneath the tires when this happens and will slide so much easily.
He mentions that they usually have them in every truck.
@@stephenlea5765 I heard that. I hope he read my comment that I made about 2 years about that. No matter, it works great. Glad they got them.
@@stephenlea5765 I heard that after I wrote the comment. My ego tells me he read my comment I made some years ago about getting them. I don't really believe that but I'm glad he took someone's advice and got some. I have used them on many occasions and they are a life saver. I know some of the older videos they really struggled and I was yelling at the screen to get some plastic trays!!!! Thanks Stephen!
And thats the hardest I have ever seen Mr Dennis Collins WORK in all my years watching him , LOL . PS I know he is a hard working man to get where is now in life .
Congratulations! That one looks like it will clean up nice!!
There was an old trick with wheels locked up that I used to use and that was remove hubcaps put a sponge on the wheel and hit with a club hammer, that used to shock the brakes free 9 times out of ten
I would like to recommend you guys carry 4-8 plastic dinner trays like you could get at McDonalds or more likely a cafeteria type place. Put one of the trays under each of the stuck wheels....and you can pull that sucker anywhere you want. Might still be fun getting it up on ramps like that, so pick up a rollback trailer. No ramps needed.
They usually carry them, just forgot them this time.
watch till the end lol
Im surprised no one offered to lend any help or ask dennis if he needed a jack or 2 to use .
Yeah that Karen absolutely took pictures of trucks plate just incase they ran on her 200 dollar lawn fix 😂 buying a 50k fixer upper in a 150k tow rig with a camera man videoing the entire experience hahaha "mam im not going anywhere lol"
Nice find Dennis even thou the '64 is the stepchild car to all the others. Have your mechanic check the position/timing of the distributor. It's physically out of place. Should be pointed more clockwise toward the #6 cylinder. It's a good chance the dizzy gear is out 180* causing the dizzy to be in the current position. The dimple on the gear is suppose to match the #1 position at the rotor tip.
Shawn P and Dennis, I'm a fan of the lunch trays, but when you (might) find yourself in todays position again, a spray bottle from any dollar store , water, dishwashing soap, and the accelerator, a couple ounces of bleach...spray down pavement, ramps, and wood or diamond plate on your trailer to exponentially lower your friction coefficient between tires and rolling surfaces.
2-3 man job as you did today; 1 on the winch and one pushing on side of car/steering. It can fall off ramps easier so good communication is key. If you have a jack on the back or rear tires are rolling like today, easier by 50%> That's a Sweet 64 Stingray. I'll be sampling BBs next time I'm in Houston.
Great video as usual. All your guys...Alex ( kicked those extra pounds to the curb!), James, Sean P, ,and Crackerjack Zack the Professional cameraman. Youve assembled a kick ass team Mr. Collins.
Cameos by your brother, daughter, and family n friends get together s @ event venues make this way, way more than a car content video.
Thanks for taking us all with you on your adventures and car buys.
the Texas Chipster
It's really great seeing the rescued vehicle update at the end. Thanks for the video.
Yes these wheel dolly’s are life savers
Except the trailer ramps aren't wide enough for Dolly's.
@@arte9855soapy lunch. Trays mucho better
"My dad paid the same thing I'm gettin' for this car...." I'm guessing Dennis got, Ahheem/Uhheem, a really good deal!!!!
And how long ago did his dad buy this car?
Pointing fingers , good driver woulda checked for the proper equipment "pretrip" walkaround inspection !!!
With all these locked wheels. I’m surprised Dennis does not bring 4 wheel trolleys than depend on unlocking. And the son admitting he’s a vw guy selling fathers corvette is close to heresy.
Mr. Collins not scared to put a bit of muscle power in when need ,sign of a true Boss 😊
with Sean p around you NEED to 😆
Agree 100% Dennis is top notch for sure!! (I personally just cannot watch the stupid Gas Monkey anymore!!)
Geez put some Dawn or other dish detertent on the front tires so it'll slide MUCH easier. Thought everyone knew that trick, expecially a habitual car flipper
'64 is the least valuable C2 since it doesn't have the Split Window and still has drum brakes - plus it's the year before the Big Block became available.
I'd still take one - especially a convertible with the hard top.
Hell of a deal on that car. Paying what his dad paid for it back in the 80's 10:00
This is the most iconic body style. Rare. Too bad they only made them 5 years. 63-67. Beautiful. ❤❤👍🏁
Seller said he's had it 18 years from his dad and he drove it 3 or 4 times so why does dennis think it was sitting for 40 years ? Lol
Great video but I was wondering. Why don't you have a roll back a flat bed? Roll back for situations like this especially close to where you guys are happy holidays
Mr Collins does all the work wow Sean presses the button for the winch😢
'92 to '23 = 31 years. Plate said "08".
super great fantastic = i like this type very much = horse power depot - great vette channel family racing record holders ! thanks dennis .
Nice car, Dennis! shit all it needs is a good mechanical run through and a wash and buff, I would not mess with that paint - its a survivor dude! : )
It has 2008 plate so I would say it's been sitting 15 years not 40. The owner said he drove it a few times
Drag it on backwards, the front wheels will track straight, works for me
Does anybody on that street work? Folks watching and shuffling around all over on a Tuesday.
😂 great video how about that spicy lunch first time I ever saw a Dennis's eyes watering. That was a good seafood broil from where I was looking
Dennis! Stand clear of that winch cable! If the winch cable snaps it could cut you into 2 pieces! That’s not cool!
before the Truck even left...it should have been checked that it was equipped with everything needed, why do you think the pilots walk around the airplane before they take off.
Truck drivers on their pre trips too.
The back wheels were spinning, you should’ve pulled it up backwards
Just as a hopefully helpful comment, I always had better luck with stuck brakes, pulling them in reverse. Foward usually doesn't' work. Love the show.
I don't know how you find this stuff in such great shape. Everything I catch wind of is usually not worth the effort to even fool with.
In...1968 only I believe, the timing position (visually) for the can was one tower 'off' in a Corvette compared to any other previous one. The engine won't care as long as the distributor is timed. I suspect that like many old cars, the dizzy was swapped or changed, or a less than knowledgeable person worked on it and the position is a couple teeth off, but again if the thing is timed it's timed. The routing of the tach cable may have influenced all this, it's a mechanical drive off the back of the distributor assembly.
@@bbb462cidwhat?? lol
@@jonthebuildingmanager2896 I had posted a link for you. UA-cam removed it. You can find this info for yourself. Google "1968 corvette distributor diagram". It will be the first match under 'images'. Note the position of the #1 wire tower in regards to the vacuum advance cannister, 1968 vs prior years for Corvette. Not the same, it's one position different. Anything else I can explain to you about old cars?
Did Sean blow up his bicep?
Typical nosey neighbour
Girl even had the perfect Karen voice. High pitch enough to break glass.
I know you are car gear heads but do we try and back the brakes off??
Cafeteria trays work amazing for sliding on to trailer. Have also had luck with Dawn Dish Soap. Never ending battles lol
What a lovely bloke. I bet his dad was lovely too. Cherish your parents while you can. ❤
Yep Dennis was a bit blunt and rude this time. wasnt even interested in the history or anything. Didnt invite anyone to join them for lunch either..... Hmmmmm. Dropping the ball Dennis...

Fabulous find. You guys are saving History one car at a time.
Flippin cars…
@@DUNEATV lol so true!!!its all about making money!!!!
Watch some of the tow truck guys. They have plastic wedges about 6" wide, and a foot long, with a large bump on the fat end. They push the wedge under the wheel, drag the wheel up onto the wedge, and the locked wheels slide right up the roll back truck. I would guess some kind of Teflon plastic.
the old lady at 16:09 still has nice twins!!!!lol.good for her as i like them gilfs!!!!lol
You guys ever get the impression that Dennis gets annoyed with some of these sellers. When they start yacking on and on about their other cars or experiences. Dennis is super nice and does try to listen for the most part.
So Sean P what did that lady want in return for you braking her sprinkler head 🤔
Carly Simon song about ketchup SMH
You needed Alex.
Hi Dennis, Liquid dish soap such as Dawn under the tires will have a ca with locked up bakes sliding like a sled on ice.
Back in the 1960's in NYC car thieves used to use dish liquid to rock and push them sideways out of tight parking spots when stealing them. Back then on weekends at the Disco we used to box my brothers 1966 vette (327 solid lifters 365HP) by double parking my 1969 Mustang fastback (sportsroof) (351CI 3:50 rear next to it so the thieves could not slide it out of a tight parking spot because I had theft insurance and he did not.
I never understand as many cars as you guys move you seem to never bring enough gear to help with the recoveries.
(would you watch if it was just rolling a car onto a truck?)
@@bbb462cid I am a car collector and enthusiast, I don't watch this channel just to see them struggle getting a car onto a trailer. I am interested in the cars they find and the history and information that is shared. That being said, my original statement still stands. When we recover cars we try to anticipate all scenarios, when a car that is sitting a long time has a good chance of the brakes being locked up as in this case.
@@Ilovenetworking Collector and enthusiast eh? Very special. So what. I am too. Been doing it since '89. My statement stands too. Would you watch if it was just them rolling it onto a truck? I asked you a question, and you didn't answer it.
@@bbb462cid Wow, what a troll, you are blocked.
Dennis, with how well you run your business, I am surprised you don't have the employees sign a check-list before leaving to get a vehicle.
What was forgotten?
Why aren't all three trucks filled with the same tools and supplies eliminating forgetting crucial items? They are never taken out for any reason. If something breaks for one truck,it is replaced immediately. It would make it a lot easier.
You're going to have to watch this episode to know the answer to that. @@bartoni79
I cant get enough of these videos they make my lunch break that better! 👍
Sweet ride. If I wasn't living in Turkey right now I'd be dropping you a line for a purchase price.
Yep,..every recovery has its own issues when you have to work with what you have...car wasn't damaged so its a win win ....sounds good after all that time with a new fuel delivery. / T
In 1973 I was a Vehicle Maintenance instructor for the US Air Force in Rantoul, Illinois. I joined a local Corvette club and the first thing they asked me was, "what year & model do you have?" "I have a '63 convertible and a '65 convertible with both tops." The room went silent until someone said something like, 'holy shit, you have 2 Vettes?"
Amazing find for sure, 1 of my favorite models and year, the next would be the split window.
That's why u bring a floor jack and lift it and pull it and steer it.😂
Thought this was a lot of extra work to get it on. A couple of months ago I put a wrecked C2 with no wheels in a moving truck with a floor jack/2 2x6's and a ratchet strap and it was easier than this looked.
You just need a big hammer 🔨 on the old drum brakes
This guy rambling is pretty hard to listen to
Holy grail time !!!!! Outstanding !!!! ☕️🚙❤️
Dennis, I don't know what I want more....The incredible car or the delicious food.😊
Great buy the breaks were very sketchy. Good job getting it on the trailer. Lunch looked very good too.
Add a small bottle of dish soap to the trailer boxes (or borrow some from the home owner) you'll be suprised how slippery it makes the surface. And its not ridiculously harmful to the environment. I have loaded many wrecks on a flat bed this way.
21:13 carter square bore - have not seen one of those in a while.
Time for Dennis to get a tilt bed trailer ✌💖☮
Dennis I'm shocked you don't have wheel dollys would've made things go smoothly....
Throw a little dirt on the ramps and trailer in front of the locked up tires.
Friction Modifier.
Sean P my fav! Guess he can’t make every trip.
Hey guys , if you keep a couple of old road signs in your truck , when situations like this arise , you simply throw one under each locked up wheel to act as
'friction plates' , and then the car will slide right up the ramps ... Lol
cool car ..
You may want to consider collecting a roll back...with repo hooks. Jus sayin
Tow truck guys use these slides to put under the tires to help them slide when the wheels are locked up, they kind of look like a comma from the side. They work pretty well and would make this a ton easier.
They are a poly plastic and called a skate. And yes I am a tow prick that takes your car when the cops call us. They call we haul.
Bam , great video . Now it runs too 👍🏻. Why USA cars have drum brakes on a V8 😉.
Bit of washing up liquid and water on your ramps might have helped .
Great show again!!!!!Dennis you and Shawn look tired!!!!Ya'll need a vacation!!!!!!
DAWN DISH SOAP. Always keep a bottle of Dawn and an empty one with the squirt nipple . A repo man taught me when you don't have the tools soap down the ramps and bed ( mix the dawn down , using it straight will be a pain if it dries out on the tow home.) and the cars tires will slide like they where on ice. Another pro tip is always carry a bar of soap in the truck. You can use it in a emergency to plug a oil pan or a raider and it will get you down the road to where you can address the issue .
What a struggle! But the car looks good. Would love to try that restaurant.
300 horse should have a afb carb. That carb is usually 250 horse. Very nice car though. Were there build sheets above the gas tank in 1964?
No build sheet until '67!
Very nice video glad you are back to fliming where you actually show the car. Again a great video👍
You need to replace that trailer with a power tilt trailer.. Hook your hooks, tilt up and back to the wheels and winch.. No monkeying around with those risky ramps.. alot safer.. Bought mine 5 years ago and will never go back to ramps...It paid for itself with the time it saved.. Love the show guys..👍👍
Have a '64 ProStreet Corvette that's been up on jackstands since '06 and my front disc brakes are stuck also.
I just got home from kidney cancer surgery and hopefully, if i actually survive, to get the pink car back out on the road. Along with wife's '67 black Tri-Power coupe. It's been sittin bout the same time frame. Needs rear alignment mostly.
Ya'll keep up the great work. I know it's a business for ya but thanks for saving some extremely fine rides. Perhaps ya'll will meet a couple of our old Corvettes and Mustangs.....and lots of spare parts. I can't do em justice anymore. Sad, that be.
rick in Tennessee.
These owners just annoy me. Just drive the vehicle 25 miles a month to keep the lubricants moving around to to make sure the brakes don't seize up. If you love your Dad so much, at least take care of what you inherited from him.
Thank you for this post. I agree 100%.
Some people don't deserve to inherit shit
