I need this cam in my 49 convertible immediately. Like yesterday. So badass. I have the same intake and full dual exhaust, but also have a real Edmond's customs finned aluminum head from back in the day
I seen this after buying an immaculate 1948 p15 Plymouth and am now having a REAL full race 230 dodge q engine being built it has been bored 60 thou forged pistons, full race cam, high performance alloy head and twin inlet manifold from edgy performance parts, which will have 2 carbys placed on them with fuel injection kits in them ,,,,and strapped on top some where is going to be a 10psi boost supercharger ,,,woohoo her name was ....miss daisy......now its going to be ......CRACKLIN ROSIE .....
How hard is it to find parts for these? I have a 47 Dodge that has one of these 230's and was thinking about pulling it out and rebuilding it. Runs fine, and the car in general is in good original condition, but I think it is having some issues with rockers. At higher RPM's it starts to kind of 'click-clack.'
@waynekarjala2032 it certainly would be. 17 year old me had the right idea, but didn't have the practical knowledge (or terminology). It was indeed valves that were in bad need of adjustment. Ended up doing a refresh on the entire motor a few years after that. Funnily enough I was taken for a ride by a local machine shop. Had the block and head decked and asked him to put in hardened valve seats so I didn't have to use lead additives anylonger. Found out many years later the 230s had hardened exhaust valve seats since their inception in 1933.
Why is anybody interested in screwing around with a flathead. Look at airflow and compression ratio. Stinks. If performance is what you want you aren't going to get it this way
I bought a dual intake Offy and 2 rebuilt carbs years ago, waiting for me to repair her. This is very nice.
Good lord that engine sound good
OMG!!!! I have a flathead, I need to do performance parts for my 47. That was beautiful sir

What are the Intake/Exhaust Manifolds you're running? I've got a '53 Plymouth with the same motor and been keeping my eyes peeled for them.
Got a question what is the setup . Especially the cam
Stock mechanical fuel pump (without the vacuum booster)?
Where did you find headers?
What did you do to turn it into a race engine? Do you have links to websites I can follow?

Search Google for p15-d24 and you can find a lot of knowledgeable people who know these engines. They can help you out.

Lol, well then what about many fine questions here? I was hoping for a little education from someone who's done it.

I just think they're neat 🥔 ✋ 😃
Yeah, why bother with class racing. If you don't have an F1 car, why are you even trying to tinker around and have fun.
What can you got?
