- Connor bought this 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe, Club Coupe off of his uncle to replace his 2010 Mazda 3 as a daily driver.
This car has been in his family for the past 15 years and is very tastefully modified with an emphasis on reliability and comfort.
The electrical has been updated to 12V and the car entirely rewired with a new panel and Optima battery.
Engine: Later model 1949 Plymouth P18 flathead six with Offy dual carb manifold, rebuilt Carter carbs, Phillips split dual exhaust manifold, and Crane ignition. It runs great.
Transmission: Rebuilt three-on-the-tree. New clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing.
Chassis: Fatman dropped spindles and disk brakes in front, with Eaton coil springs and new shocks. Rebuilt Ford 8 inch rear end with 3.50 highway gears and new brakes. Posies Super-Slide rear springs and new shocks. BFG radial tires. It’s smooth and comfortable.

Its the Green Weenie! When me and my buddy were 14 his dad had an 48 Plymouth in the back yard. It still ran great, this was in 1961. We would sneak it out on Saturday nights and go to the drive in. All 4 of us were 13 an 14 and we had fun, never got pulled over. O it was green.😊
Gorgeous '48 Plymouth!
Miss the Plymouth brand…my grandfather’s car was this one…three on the tree was fun. Thank you for the video
My mother had a '48 Plymouth Deluxe but it was a 4 door and had the roof that sloped down to the trunk, no shelf in the back. I remember standing on the hump behind the front seats when we went anywhere. The seats were cloth so my mother made us put down towels before we sat down after we went to the beach. That was a long time ago. lol.
I've always been pretty much a Chevy/Ford guy and have owned several classics in my 78 years but I am really starting to love the Mopar vehicles, especially the Plymouths in particular Way back when I was in the Navy I did own a nice little 50 Plymouth coupe that was actually given to my wife and I when we lived off base by an elderly neighbor man who probably had pity on us. Buck was his name. He said I'm not just going to give it to you, so you owe me ten dollars just to make the deal square. So I slipped him a ten spot. Never forget that day in 1965 Vallejo, California Mare Island Naval Base. Wish I had that little coupe today.
So damn cool. Great description. Under-rated 40's model. Under the radar.
I love these cars , hope to get another some day. that's a nice ride bro !
It's so cool to see a fully restored and functional 48 special deluxe. My 24Hrs of LeMons team is building one, and it should be ready for track in 2 weeks.
My grandma has a 48 just like this. Garaged and runs with original paint
My Dad bought and sold probably 4-5 of these and Dodges in the same years when I was a kid. Lots of time in those models.
They made models that had fluid drive.I had one 1947 in 1977. There was both clutch and torque converter. Flat 6 engine that could be bought new at tractor supplier
The similar Dodge D-24 had Fluid-Drive option, the P-15 never did
@ 4:23 It sounds like a Jetson car haha. Love the vehicle.
I remember our activities coordinator in high school (Mr. Walt Dawson, mid-1970s) having one of these as his daily driver. He may well have bought it new.
Love it. I've got a '49 Plymouth Special Deluxe 4 door flavor that although its not aesthetically pleasing to the eye to some.. Its a peach pie beauty to me. Dig it.
Your Plymouth is AWESOME!........it's Just So Right!
My father had a '48 Plymouth coupe. He was going to sell it, but changed his mind after talking it up to a prospective buyer. It was stolen around this time of the year back in 1957, or '58. I've always thought it would be cool to get one like dad's, but I've no place for it.
Cool story, Bob Ingber. We hope you get another one someday.
You’re so lucky man
That's a beauty! Keep that for life and enjoy man!
Just discovered you guys, awesome work keep going.
Thanks Jay C! Glad you like it.
Nice job Lane and Connor! great one
Thanks Jared Basye
my grandfather owns one, he has so many cars in the shop it looks like our personal car show, but i asked if i could have one and i chose the 1948 plymouth
and also every thing inside the car is original the engine was rebuilt though
Beauty! Really well done.
I have a 48 SD 4 door (suicide) same color. Awesome car!
I own this car now. Just starting an engine rebuild on it this week. Great car.
Any video's on the car?
Wm. Severin Thompson hey I haven't heard back from the original owner, do you know what color paint this is or what the paint code is, since you own it now, also what type of glass packs is on it, thanks
@@scottyv68 i've just been trying to recreate this paint color at my paint shop. I started with a 1960 Porsche Aetna Blue which looks close and then got it lightened a few times and added more red-blue. After a few changes I think we have something ok in the tin. I will post the paint code if it works out after painting my 48 Special Deluxe. Fingers crossed.
@@nicweal6487 I ended up making my own custom color anyway, it's quite a bit lighter but it's still awesome. ua-cam.com/video/WVYSWkK3xfw/v-deo.html
Yes this car really is awesome. It barely takes off though.
Hey can you tell me what the color is on this car, and also what kind of glass pack you got on it, it looks and sounds awesome dude
Gorgeous.
Very nice car man 😎✌🍕
Would love to know the tire/wheel dimensions. Wheel diameter, width and backspace. Tire brand, model and size... 225/70 - 15s? They look perfect! Exactly what I'd want on my 50!
what size glass packs are you running with that flat six...Nice tone
very nice
Beautiful car and tastefully done. Curious to know more about the drivetrain. Any work done to the engine?
Thanks!

Aw, man, thank you! I really dig the videos you guys put out. And thanks for the info on the build. I can't say enough how I appreciate the fact that you kept the period flathead six. So great to see a car moving under basically it's original power, and especially with a few proper goodies from the era. It just sits so nicely and that six has a great sound. Sure, anyone could throw an SBC in there...but why? Hoisting my glass in your direction, and looking forward to more videos!
cool video !! I am working on a 1946 DeSoto and I´m searching for a color.
I like the color of the Plymouth. Can you say what the color code is ?
Club had back seat Business no back seat
Hii India m hai ye car
It is a P15
How much did you pay
Pop the hood & show the engine!
Do you still own this one?
I just keep coming back to see this car
What is the engine, transmission and rear end combo?
It could do without the custom/resto moddy type crap. Uncle never should have screwed with an all original, one owner car. Modifications to “make it easier to live with, and you could hop in and drive anywhere.” Who’s he kidding? It’s a 70+ year old car, you always could hop in and drive anywhere!
Why that awful exhaust note? Put a proper muffler on it please
brown bomber
Don't care for the hood or the muffler. Hood looks too cluttered. The muffler sounds too teenage-ish.
I m hate plastic car
