Hi Peter, you are 100% correct. Just prior to covid, I was diving on the reef off Cairns. The tour operator took our group out to the reef. There were a number of Americans who only came to see the reef before it was "destroyed by climate change". The tour operator was excellent and explained that sure the reef experiences bleaching due to a number of factors but always recovers and was actually growing. The whole tour group was really blown away by the reef. Fantastic colours and variety. The Americans were convinced the reef was going to be around for a long time, and were go to pass this onto their friends who would hopefully also come and enjoy.
Should visit Victoria to watch all the little wokies, then go see the reef. I think someone sounded a little bit sassier in today's video?? 🙂 Thanks Dr. Ridd. I never believed for a second there was a problem with the reef.
We recently flew from Sydney to Vancouver , then to Ottawa , UK , Singapore and home to Sydney . Due to time constraints this time we did not drive ip through the Rockies but flew over 500 miles of pristine mountains , then to a beautiful area only 50 k north of Ottawa , and into Heathrow and a drive down the M4 to the west country which was green , spring flowers everywhere , green fields and trees in full spring colour . The only sign of doom was a parade of a mob of extinction rebellion fans in their plastic red robes and white glum faces . Fortunately nature was simply ignoring the doom and gloom brigade . Even Singapore with its limited area had packed as much vegetation and trees in as possibly including above and around buildings . I am sure much of the planet could be improved but generally it's pretty damn good .
Great video. One of our biggest attractions in the Czech Republic was also affected by alarmism. Our České Švýcarsko National Park caught fire in 2022. They blamed it on Glob Warm, but in reality it was because of dead dry non native trees. There are still few tourists, although most of the forest has not been damaged. I would love a video about how corals have been destroyed by nuclear tests in the past and how they still don't care about corals now.
Regardless of how good our reef is at least we don't mass dredge our reef for concrete or dredge it up into artificial islands, unlike some nations that like to push the GBR doom and gloom at us.
@@reefrebels Alarmists seem to forget or ignore a lot of components of the bigger picture. They spend so much time focused upon the leaves on the tree that they seam to forget that it was all about the forest in the first place, or even forget that there is a forest :) The subjective human condition... One of the seven natural wonders of the world, probably the largest, the most pristine, and with the greatest biodiversity. To me it's the miraculous pinnacle of evolutionary adaptation, created by coral and sustained by coral, in perfect harmony with a multitude of other species. To understand the biology of life you must understand the GBR. How fragile is the GBR? Look to Bikini Atoll for the answer. The reef will survive and flourish, whatever man throws its way.
The GBR is definitely one of the most pristine marine ecosystems I have witnessed , having just visited Raja Ampat in West Papau - I can say GBR is not lacking at all
They tell everyone at every opportunity that the GBR is dying, then wonder why people start believing them and don’t bother going. It looked lovely every time I have been there.
The sydney harbour bridge is probably fine but what is not fine and what bridge will one trillion % collapse is melbournes westgate bridge. For the second time.
Ironically if the tourists and their sunscreens stayed away from the reef then there would be less bleaching and more healthy marine life. Does nothing for hip pockets though 😂
We have a video here that explains sunscreen do not cause significant damage to the reef as believed . 7 Most Ridiculous Threats To The Great Barrier Reef ua-cam.com/video/Kob1GgSRZJc/v-deo.html
We imported 1 million new voters and trouble makers from around the world in the last year, so don't worry Pal, you would be lucky to bump into an Aussie in Australia.
Have you ever been to Australia? It sounds like maybe not and I believe you’ll be pleasantly surprised. I’m from New Zealand and always found the Aussies good value, always a bit of banter and it’s all been good in my experience.
Thankyou for telling the truth.. something our governments, media and universities REFUSEto do
You're a great scientist and courageous human professor Ridd.
We have a 'Bradbury' for a lucky, unexpected victory; could I suggest for a spilling dam we call it a 'Flannery', or 'Flannery Event'.

Yes thats always the case that tourists are pleasantly surprised by the reef!

Tell the world the coral is dead and get surprised no one wants to see the rubble?!
Leaving a comment to help the channel. Keep up the good work Aussies* appreciate it.
Great mate keep it up. its disappointing that lies are the way to go for the world and who are these people I would like to meet them

It's the old story, "no crisis no funding". Good to see the 90" Shortie on your bookshelf 👍🥃
From a north Queensland cane farmer being accused of destroying the reef, thank you.
its terribly unjustified for all the blame farmers had to cop
Excellent 👍
I would rather go see far right Argentina than far left Australia.
Maybe you should undertake a trip to Russia on the way if you enjoy the views of mountains...in Siberia.
@@lightwoven5326Russia isn’t far right.
The hermit kingdom of North Korea is beautiful this time of year.
Thank you Peter . Please keep up the good work and God Bless
Channel 9 News has a nightly “climate crisis” story. We watch for the laughs
Much like their over repeated "Unprecedented climate change caused high temperateres" during the last bushfires a few years ago.
David Attenborough has a lot to answer for. I remember he blamed the "Death" of the Great Barrier Reef on global warming.
Cheers Peter. The dooms day professor in the clip, is he still employed?
Of course he’ll be still employed, he’s saying what the climate change crazies want to hear.😜
I'm going to Townsville in a few weeks time - I'll do a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef while I'm there !!!
excellent , glad to hear you are visiting the reef. would be good to know how the reef recovered from the recent cyclone
@@reefrebels I will ask the tour operator when we're on our way back to berth.

Same for the snows of kilimandjaro ….
the many errors of an inconvenient truth
Well presented level headed truth
That’s a load of abalone..
Thank you..
I wonder where the funds are going ?

Mind you, holidaying on the GBR is very expensive. That would account for any fall in numbers.
Thanks for telling us the truth.
Yep....the truth will set you free!
Thanks again Dr great to get expert information not parroted nonsense from so called news readers.
Follow the money.

Sorry won't ever come 'cause Aussies see us not Aussies as inferior.
thats not true , Aussies welcome anybody. Why would you say that?
