Yes!! I deleted social media in 2016 and haven't looked back. Life is positive and peaceful. I watch YT but it's curated to my interests so no negativity there.
I wish more people left social media behind. It adds no value to life.

I deleted social media when I was 15 now I'm 18. I don't regret it at all. UA-cam is fine.

I’m a homemaker and I was just talking to my husband about taking a trip to Barnes and noble to pick up an order of books (woman’s bible, non fiction, and some mindfulness books) and word puzzles. I don’t have any children but I really don’t want to spend my days on the internet. Im blessed to stay home and I want to be fruitful and not just waste time watching other people live. Some engagement is fine but hours and hours is just too much.

I got rid of all social media except UA-cam and Pinterest a couple of years ago.... and I don't really count Pinterest as social media. because I don't really socialize with anyone on there lol. I consider it more akin to looking at a magazine because it's just pretty pictures and recipes lol. I've been infinitely happier since I got rid of it all. It wasted so much time. I feel so free without it!

Besides youtube, I deleted all of my other social media a couple years ago. I was feeling so disconnected from everything I saw on social media that I'd just end up filled with so much negativity. It was definitely a great decision!

I love this!! I've tried a lot to delete facebook. Everytime I think about it something happens with my daughter and it's easier to get help via facebook groups. I really hate that I feel so attached to it. I can't wait until I can get rid of my job's social media app (essentially facebook for work UGH), but it's our "official" communication tool. I've recently started to pay attention to time spent and giving myself time or time of day limits. I allow myself a devotional video in the morning on youtube, 5 minutes to search facebook and I try my best to not look at it again until all of my household chores, kids homeschooling and whatever my husband needs done for the day. Phones now come pre-loaded with facebook that I'm unable to delete and I can't log completely out of it either. It very much feels like they want you to be addicted.

I got rid of all my social media back in May 2021. Best decision I have ever made!! Not only has it made me more present as a mother, wife and friend...it’s made me more productive in my day to day life. For a long time I truly thought I struggled with ADD, I had such a hard time focusing and being organized...but now I know it was because my mind and time were divided by the distractions on my phone. Cutting out those distractions has changed my life completely.

I had the exact same conviction all of last year since becoming a mom. So I too deleted everything. I only allow myself 1 video on UA-cam if my daughter is napping but more often than not I choose to read instead. I love not having social media anymore and also having my phone battery last 2 days now 😆 but seriously time with our kids are so precious. They deserve us to be all in with them.

Social media can be a great tool or a great distraction and it really comes down to discipline to determine which one it may be for someone. These are really great intentions for getting off of social media! I really relate to your feelings on this. I have decluttered who I follow, deleted the apps off my phone, and even disabled some of my personal profiles. I'd love to work on my homemaking, blog, relationship with God, and start a new UA-cam channel. Endless scrolling/learning with no action and nothing to show for everything you know can be very draining. I am finding what works best for me is to actually only use social media on my desktop. This allows me to still use it as a tool or resource while being intentional about what I'm using it for in the moment. For example, I am on my desktop right now watching this video as a drink my coffee and I chose to watch your channel because I wanted to start my day with some sweet, wholesome, christ centered inspiration! Thank you for sharing

Hey!:) As for the podcasts that I enjoy, here are a couple:
      Bible Thinker by Mike Winger
I love this one because Mike really dives into a lot of theology and Bible study type stuff. He addresses a lot of issues, does q and a’s, and lots of deep dives into different topics.
      Cross Examined by Frank Turek
This guy is my very favorite apologist. He is incredibly smart, but really breaks things down so it’s easy to understand and gives great reasons for Christianity.
      Farmhouse on Boone
I confess, I don’t listen to this lady a ton, but if you are looking for some practical homemaking inspiration and advice, I would encourage her or Homemaker Chic.
The last one is called Now that We’re a Family
It addresses marriage, family, and business, and is just all around very enjoyable to listen to.
Anyway, I hope that gives you some ideas.

I got rid of everything but youtube and pinterest a few years ago. But have been really feeling lately that I am still distracted. As a child and teenager I spent very little time on the internet. I spent a lot of time reading, learning, making things, and spending a lot of time in my own head. But for the past several years I have really strayed from these things and become so distracted. I've also found myself becoming anxious when I used to be very at peace in God's plan for my life. I want that peace and intentional life back. I'm catholic so I'm going to be getting rid of everything that is distracting me and bringing back the good things I used to do for lent. I'm praying that during this time before Easter God will help me form this habit that I will carry long past Easter!

I deleted my Instagram about a month ago, and don’t miss it at all. I do still have UA-cam and podcasts on my phone for when I’m doing housework or yardwork. I haven’t used Facebook or Snapchat in years, never had a Twitter. I really just had Instagram, but was so addicted to it and it really was what derailed so much of my productivity and clouded my mind. In the time since deleting it, I’ve suddenly been convicted to really pursue a relationship with God for the first time in my life. It’s truly been amazing how much deleting social media has silenced all the needless noise that was in my life and allowed me to hear God’s voice instead.

    • @BecauseitMatters
      @BecauseitMatters  2 роки тому +1

Wow!!!! That is so awesome that leaving Instagram has caused you to desire a deeper relationship with God. 💕
It’s actually quite scary to me just how easy it is to fall into this world of complete distraction from all that truly matters in life.
So cool to hear of others breaking free from that!!! 💕💕💕
I am so excited to be on this journey with you all!:)

I haven't had Instagram in almost 2 years. When I started my youtube channel a few months ago, I struggled with thinking I should get back on Instagram. I decided it wasn't worth the time I'd lose from the things I'm trying to pour myself into. So I didn't get back on it. But, I am on here so much. So, this is very convicting to me. I say the same thing about why I watch UA-cam. I say I'm learning things. Now you have me thinking. Lol I don't want to be distracted with my kids. My oldest just turned 12, and I don't want to lose these years. Thank you so much, for sharing!!!! - Raylynn 💜

Got rid of instagram and FB half a year ago and i never felt better as a person and mom.
It was giving me anxiety to see how people can treat each other and it was messy.
So i gave up those things and i am so happy with my life and i am not hooked onto my phone 24/7 anymore.

Because of this video, I uninstalled Facebook (my only social media app) from my phone. Accessing it from a computer requires overcoming some obstacles so I'll not be able to log on as much.
