Superstition Mts.
The mountain range is in the federally designated Superstition Wilderness Area, and includes a variety of natural features in addition to its namesake mountain. Weavers Needle, a prominent landmark and rock climbing destination set behind and to the east of Superstition Mountain, is a tall eroded volcanic remnant[2] that plays a significant role in the legend of the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine.
Apache Junction
Apache Junction is located at an intersection on an unpaved stagecoach trail to the nearby Superstition Mountains.[citation needed] Apache Junction became a historical landmark and scenic byway that was opened to the public in 1922 and is currently part of a 120 mile-long "circle trail" that begins and ends in Apache Junction.[5]
At one time AJ,had spring training baseball, Colt 45’ers, bowling alley, roller rink.Yellow Front.Superstion Inn,(Elvis Stayed), Apacheland movie studio, and way back in time a zoo. Small zoo. Love AJ.😎
I grew up in apache junction , my family wad the original owners of Los vaqueros , I graduated from ajhs in 1980
Thank you for the very nice video! 😊👍🌷 I used to live there and my sis and mom still do. The heat is bad in summer but certain times of the year it’s so pleasant, peaceful and enjoyable! I love seeing the little families of quails with their tiny fluff ball babies running around and road runners actually doing just that , running down the road with a lizard hanging out of their mouth. Or a Gila monster with its bright red/orange colorings hanging out on some rocks. Etc. Thanks again! 👍🌺🥳
I love it! Thanks... It is a nice place for sure. You are right about the heat. It can be punishing, but in December it's like we all forget about it again.
A.J. starts at Meridian, so you were a bit early. I try to stay off Main - too many lights. Really scenic is driving the same direction on Brown/Lost Dutchman (1.5 miles to the north of Main), takes a third of the time and passes through some preserved desert on one side with an unobstructed view straight east to the mountains.
Shew Whee! Thank heavens for all the Midwest green and prairie grass.
Cactus anyone?
Thinking of moving to Arizona. This seems nice.
It has a lot of great points to it.
First five minutes, not AJ. Is East Mesa.. Go Prospectors.😎
My home, my mountain.
I am heading out that way soon. Love how it just rises up. Thanks for stopping by!
