ty again for a very good and informative video. My wife and I are interested in moving to Sevierville later in our future. So we are gathering information for when that time comes
Remember the reasons you left your home and leave it there, we don't want unabated crime in our area.
I'd be leaving to escape leftist politics and huge property taxes.
@@barneyfyfe8313 exactly, don't vote blue in your new home.
@@roddycreswell8613 I'm a born and raised conservative. Voted R since my first election (Bob Dole). NRA life member since I was 12. NRA Instructor.

@@barneyfyfe8313 anyone can run their mouth, can you comprehend that?
@@roddycreswell8613 What's your point...besides bad manners?
I grew up in Kingston/Harriman/Rockwood, better known as Midtown. (It is not really a town but is called Midtown because of being between the 3 towns)
In the 1970s went to High school in Kingston. My favorite town to hang out and live was in Harriman, but that town is not what it used to be since the 1990s.
It is true about the con of living in this area when it comes to shopping. Really the majority of the people that lives there are employees that works in Oak Ridge especially for Y12 and X10 plant -Department of Energy. Kingston area is/was more of a quite country setting and to go fishing at Watts Bar Lake. I have not lived there for some years but all my family still does. I was just there visiting in April 2023. They say the area in the last few years has "gotten noisy" due to more people moving in the area.
Now, this is a "maybe / might" con. The Kingston city police used to terrible, money hungry, find ways to make a dollar in fines. Hopefully that has changed a bit. It used to be a 2 city patrol car department. Now I understand there is now 6 or city patro; cars.
I am retired now and have considered moving back many times. I get it that time changes and nothing stays the same but Midtown -Kingston/ Harriman would still be my choice to live
We have friends in maryville and me n my family is looking to move with a year from there we love it there
I love Maryville! I’m working on a video about Maryville now. If you need any help when you’re ready to make the move then feel free to reach out. I’d love to help y’all!
❤Hello Chevy My First Cousin Tammy Dollar Davister Lives There . 👩🏻
Please just stay where you are !!! It’s all pretty standard around here traffic in and thru Knoxville is a nightmare!
Please don’t advertise lol. I’m trying to move down to this region and really don’t want any of the idiots following my family down there and bringing the stuff we’re leaving.
I’m advertising to people just like yourself.
be ready for winter cold in the Tn mountains like you're up north
Great video Chevy! One thing you didn't talk about was medical in these towns. I know you've talked about it in other videos, but it would have been nice to hear it in this one.
Sorry, it's really hard to cover everything in each town. I'll try to involve that in a future video.
Expect shopping is lacking in Maryville the Sears and Penney’s both closed down during the pandemic and have no plans to reopen. to pay higher property taxes in Maryville the college is exceptionally expensive to attend!!!
Please do a video tour of NEWPORT
i wondered about moving to Maryville. i have driven through there many times to bypass Knoxville heading home to Illinois. it seems they have anything you need plus it is close to the mountains using 321. I have never lived in a town, i am used to a rural area. i also LOVE water, fishing, kayaking, boating. are there some good areas for cycling?
Lots of good areas for that! I saw your other comment about Townsend. You might want to check out Walland. It’s kind of between Maryville and Townsend. There’s a bunch of people that ride out there. Lots of pretty views with the mountains and river.
Maryville is full of transplants who want to run things and change Maryville just stay where you aremaryvilisns are co tent just the way we are!!!
Oakridge is a lovely ommunitythe lab traffic is predictable and those workers are who make oak ridge run it’s not a problem for locals who know its schedule.
Can you put in timestamps? It helps to compare and contrast
Hi, being retired. What about the medical/ health care system for a family.
@@kevinjohnson4513 I touch on that a little bit in some of my newer videos. Long story short there are hospitals and medical facilities all over the place you just have to go with the one you like.
I can see my aunts house 9:28😂😂 krazy right next to 40
How is the largemouth bass fishing in the area?I'm looking to move out of New York for fresher air
There are plenty of lakes to choose from here! East TN is an outstanding fishery. Check out the Bassmaster classic. They come here every spring and fish Fort Loudon and Tellico. There are local tournaments going on just about every weekend.
@chevyemert5655 what about employment is there alot of opportunities in the area? Truthfully I would love to change career paths and get into the fishing industry somehow
@@OneAndOnlyChi Knoxville is the third largest city in TN so I would think so but You'll have to look into that. Hard to say because there's so many variables.
I’m about to retire, I currently live in New England. I plan on moving to the north east of Tennessee. How are rentals in Kingston ? Something like a one bedroom efficiency. I’m downsizing my life.
I only deal in buying and selling. I do know from working with people that rentals are high right now. The further out you get the lower the rent will be. I'm actually about to put out a retiring to East TN video.
Looking forward to seeing it. Thanks for your reply.
Are there snakes in the water in Tellico lake ? We bought a home in the village and moving next spring . I can remember my mom telling me not to get into the river because of snake in the French broad river in North Carolina.
We definitely have snakes but it’s not something that anyone worries about. In the whole state of TN only about 50 bites are recorded each year.
@dianebaum5194 - I was raised in Midtown, which is really Kingston, Harriman and Rockwood. You have to remember that this IS after all East Tennessee. There are many different types of snakes in east Tennessee. Not to be scaring anyone but along the rivers / lakes the things to watch out for are water moccasin, Cottonmouth, Copperhead. You can enjoy the water and not have much of a worry but just keep an eye out them.
Hi, im wanting to move to this area. Not sure which 1 to pick. I am going to need someone to help me. My name is Melissa, i might haft to rent. I am looking to move in the next 4 mths.
Was wondering if you'll be doing a video on the Seymour area ?
It’s on my list! Trying to get as many areas down as I can. I’ve got a rural town video coming out at the end of this week and hopefully I can get a video featuring Seymour out the following week. Thanks for watching!
Interested in learning more about Seymore as well. Also, some comments on real estate taxes in the communities that you highlight would be appreciated as well. What you presented on Oak Ridge is great. I understand that folks coming from other parts of the country are going to be pleased with the lower taxes but a comparison of the communities would be helpful. Thanks !!
@@budmatto9205 I have a video on Seymour out now. Also, feel free to reach out if you would like to talk about it.
@@chevyemert5655 I actually found it after I watched this video. It was helpful in confirming the availability of medical offices in the area. I also laughed when you said that there isn't much going on as compared to other towns. Ironically, we spent a weekend in the area earlier in the summer and checked out most of the communities that you have described. On our trip, we drove around in Oak Ridge, Maryville, Seymour and Tellico Village (and the towns near TV). I will keep watching your videos to continue to learn more about the area. We appreciate them.
@@budmatto9205 glad I can help! If you ever need more info feel free to reach out. I’ll keep the videos coming!
If you don’t do water and lake drunk parties as many here do it’s a party lifestyle lots of alcohhol life it’s still pretty to look at
Prices are higher because so many transplants are moving here with their big cash bonuses and drivingone prices way up due to video realtors like this one promising the world to luroutsiders here! $400,00 is out of reach of most locals here or in Kingston not everyone here lives the luxury lake life
Looking to move to Townsend or near there.
I love Townsend! My wife and I got there at least once a month. I’m only about 20 min from Townsend. If you need any help give me a shout! 865-724-5044
Looking mountain area , medium average, multi family home, privacy, privacy!
If there’s anything I can do to help then just reach out 😁
What is your opinion of Morristown.
I really like Morristown. I'll be doing a video on it as soon as I can get around to it. It's certainly on my list. I'm actually showing 2 clients' homes in that area now. It has plenty of shopping, nothing fancy but all the essentials. Its a slower town so traffic is never bad and its not totally overdeveloped like some other places in East TN.
nice video for a initial understanding of the surrounding areas. Question: Can you let me know if there are any Catholic schools (ages 4 & 8) in those general areas... we are coming out there in Aug to scout out.
The only catholic schools I’m aware of are in Knoxville. Knoxville catholic is the name of the school. Hope you have a great visit in August. If you need any recommendations feel free to reach out!
@@chevyemert5655 thank you!
There is a Catholic Church and school in Johnson City in Northeast Tennessee. I'm Baptist and have never been there but I have family in Oklahoma who is Catholic and when they come into town for a week that is where they attend mass.
@@michaelholt8590 Thanks for sharing that! The only problem is that Johnson City is about 2 hours east of the Knox area.
@@chevyemert5655 True but if they were looking to move to East Tennessee. They have options.
You didnt mention anything about the schools in Sevierville.......
Niche.com is the site I use. You can check it out there.
My daughters out of college but I heard someone else say that was a private Liberal college.
What school are you referring to?
I've lived in LaFollette for all 17 years of my life never moved and i can tell you that our little area including all the surrounding cities is nowhere to raise a family. its unsafe and there are people here to be afraid of. were a small town with a high population. it's not going to be your best bet.
I know several people raising families in LaFollette and they’re all really happy there.
Don't move here we're allready overpopulated the roads can't handle the traffic we got now. Go somewhere else please
