    What a player. His heart and fighting spirit will always be remembered. Also, he will be remembered as one of the best players to never win a GS. His versions from 2012 and 2013 were incredible, only overshadowed by the presence of the big 4 in top form. But just imagine that David Ferrer in the current tour (he would be a contender for almost every tournament). The guy will be missed.
    As for why he never won a slam, the main reason was, as he admitted, his serve. It was never a weapon. We can say he was "short" for a tennis player, and that didn't help him develop a powerful serve. Also, he never had a definitive shot. He was extremely solid from both wings, and his net game, though infrequent, was acceptable. But he lacked power on his shots. He never had a devastating backhand like Wawrinka, or a powerul forehand like Tsonga, Delpo or Verdasco, or easy power like Berdych, or a great serve like Feliciano López, all definitive shots that could decide the fate of a point by their own; he just had consistency, grit. That against the game of the big 4 was not enough.
    But it doesn't matter. He had an ilustrious career and he is definitely a legend of our generation. He is an example of never giving up. That is a lesson for life, for every person. Great David Ferrer.

    David was really a master at point construction, something he wasn't credited enough for. He knew his limitations and constructed the points accordingly usually forcing his opponent to an error or a drop shot which he was sure of chasing down. A class act. Thanks for the memories Daveeed. 🙏🙏

      He can do that with his forehand as well. He hits that inside out so bad, that momentum can't be stopped and the opponent is tortured physically and mentally.

    • @peteluoma3518
      @peteluoma3518 5 місяців тому +1

      Exactly! He made his opponent run from side to side and he didn't mind if rallies got very long because more shots his opponents would chase down or even if he is running more than his opponent in a point, it actually benefits him more in a long run than winning a short point due to his incredible endurance. The fittest guy to ever play the game of tennis. Even watching his playing in his 40's he hasn't seemed to slowed down. He could still be the fittest guy if he would still be on tour. Thank you david so much for that about a decade when I watched almost all your matches. My favourite player since 2007!

      He will definitely still run as 60 year old a better time in 10 km. Probably about 40 minutes like one player did from my badminton club. That is much better than most of the players can run on tour. Federer in 2004 was able to run 9300 meters in 40 minutes. Ferrer has run 10 km in 34 minutes which is totally unbelieveble time for a tennis player! But on the other hand his warm up included a 10 km jog every day and gym training. He also did every day some intensive bicycle training.@@YesSirPhil

      @@masters.1000repeating every nonsense some clowns say doesn't make you an expert. The guy was 1,75m tall and dominated many rallies with heavy and precise FHs. If that doesn't scream talent I don't know what does
      Schwartzman for example is not as dominant in rallies as Ferrer (on average at least, at his peak he does have insane shotmaking ability) yet you won't find many people denying his talent. Why is that? I mean of course the guy is even 8 cm smaller than Ferrer, but he will likely have a worse career than Ferrer and yet is still unanimously considered as one of the most talented players on tour atm (deservedly so, to do what he does at 1,67m height is insane). Ferrer on the other hand reached one slam final, five slam SFs, won one Masters, 27 titles despite being way smaller than any other top player of his generation (which is a MASSIVE disadvantage) and is still considered an average talent. That just doesn't make sense.

To compare Ferrer with Ferrero is absurd. Ferrero is the third greatest Spanish player ever behind Nadal and Santana.
