I absolutely love the connection the two of you share. So beautiful! Thank you for these reviews. By the way, this is such an outstanding song to comment on. Thank you so much for this look into one of my favorite songs.
Porcupine Tree: The greatest band you've never heard of .....is how I introduce them to people 😁
Brilliant!
Porcupine Tree is one of best bands of all time. I'm so happy that they are getting a lot appreciation. One of my favourite songs from them is Russia On Ice. All the suggestions other people have made are great too. If you like Porcupine Tree then I have to suggest Opeth, whom Stephen Wilson produced for a while and their relationship is linked to the style development of both bands. I think a good introductory song for Opeth is the The Leper Affinity, but others would probably suggest Windowpane or Ghost of Perdition.
Russia on ice is a bit special, even by Porcupine Tree standards
and the band most similar to PTree and Opeth is easily modern ANATHEMA, IMO. I've been a fan since 1994, but truly think theyre best work began in 2010 with "We're Here" and everything since!!!
shesmovedon
Truthfully, any song by Opeth is awesome. They're one of those bands that doesn't have any bad songs.
Two words; Ozric Tentacles.
The solo you hear at 11:09 is by Opeth's singer/guitarist/songwriter. Opeth and Porcupine Tree were good friends and inspired each others a lot
Åkerfeldt's solo here is very similar to 'Hours of Wealth'.
Steven and Mike are still best friends :)
Anesthetize -
Gavin Harrison is probably one of the most well rounded musical drummers on the planet! Technical sorcery!
Amen to this! This is also exactly why he is playing with King Crimson right now.
The live version. Better tahn the studio version even.
Danny carry is up there to
My favorite Porcupine Tree is Time Flies. It has a nostalgic semi-upbeat style which reminds me a lot of Animals, the Pink Floyd album, specifically, the acoustic guitar in Dogs and the riff in Sheep. Lyrics are awesome too.
I always thought the same about time flies and dogs :D
Well said brother
My fav is Collapse The Light into Earth. Powerful and emotional.
I think you guys would really enjoy Porcupine Tree's "The Start of Something Beautiful" from the Deadwing album.
I have a strange comnection to this song; it reminds me of an event I had to go through. It bursts me in tears, every. single. time.
I have a similar reaction to Anesthetize. In 2008 my only brother passed suddenly at the age of 39. The entire week I was back in my hometown, I comforted myself with my new Ipod and found myself listening to the Fear of a Blank Planet album over and over. That coda section of Anesthetize is the passage that instantly takes me back to that awful week and there is no way I don't tear up every single time I hear it.
"here comes sumthin"....truer words have never been spoken
I am so glad you guys enjoyed this masterpiece ...You guys should totally checkout these songs by Porcupine Tree : 1. Trains 2. Cheating the Polygraph(live version)
Literally the greatest song of the 20th and 21st century.
How can it be the best song of the 20th century
Short Tom When you combine the two :)
I'm so glad you're digging them so much, definitely one of the best bands of all time (and so underappreciated too). This is THE song that got me deep into the PT/SW hole years ago. Can't wait for more!
(I hope you listen to some early PT too at some point, so much great stuff there as well. Not as much heavy stuff but more chilled out, full on musical experiences, very Floyd-ish.)
Same here....
Even less live. No more words needed. Just pure emotion
Dark Matter - Probably one of the greatest guitar solos of all time.
As I sat here at 6am watching this in the living room with the lights off I cant help but wonder if my roommate hears me out here playing this reaction and thinks I'm watching porn.
This cracked me up!
Took the words right outta my mouth😂😂
Are you knocking one out?
ikr? I have to mute some parts lol my mom was around..
True, not sure if I'm watching UA-cam or xHamsterLive 🤔
You had me at Porcupine Tree!!!. I have been a fan of this band for years now. I just Saw Steven Wilson last December for the first time. He is an amazing musician. I’m hoping he reforms this band. The fans all want it so bad. I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction. It seemed so natural and wasn’t forced or fake. Thankfully, it popped up in my UA-cam suggested videos to watch. I watch quite a few reaction channels. You all are going to be fun to watch. I just subscribed! Thanks for your PT reaction. They have a lot of great songs. You have only scratched the surface! 😃. Cheers!!!
Did you listen to his new release? I am officially a pophead now!
Priceless reaction...one of my faves...along with this song, which I also recently heard for the first time...much love to you both! (and to you, my baby, for sharing this with me, if you watch and see this)
Love you mama
Love you too papa
oops....the characters didn't change...oh well lol
The way this one built in the beginning, for some reason, reminded me of Mike Oldfields "Tubular Bells". I would love to see Kel's reaction to that!
Without intention of doing so you have reacted to a snippet of an amazing talent named Mikael Akerfeldt, that beautifully haunting bridge solo was a written and recorded by him.
Time to check out Opeth.
Here are some suggestions:
The Leper Affinity
Hex Omega
Windowpane
I just came across this video thanks to the youtube algorithm...4 years after it was posted! I've seen countless reaction videos and I think this is the best one! It's because you guys both have an awesome connection and can articulate the emotional journey the music takes you on in a visceral and deep way which is what it's all about imo! I'm super familiar with this song and have been since it was released back in 2005 I've heard it countless times, but getting to hear it in this context through the ears of people like yourselves who are experiencing it for the first time really brings me back to the first time hearing it myself like it just happened - and that's an awesome gift.. so thanks! IMO music is an amazing thing that is a privelage to share. And since it's so subjective in nature it's even more of a gift when it resonates in a similar way for more than one listener. Cheers from Shawn in Vancouver Canada! :)
This has got to be the dirtiest sounding reaction video I've ever seen. I think I counted 17 eargasms.
I've had many, each time I hear this one! 🤘🏽😁
Every transition pulled her deeper. Thats how music is written.
I only heard 11, but then again,
I am 65.
That's what drugs do to you.
And Rich only had 1 of them.
Devin Townsend Live At Royal Albert Hall "Death Of Music" . One of you will cry, maybe but either way its the embodiment of emotion. Give it a go you will not regret it.
PT is my new favorite band. The Home Invasion concert from Steven is unbelievable.
This my favorite band. I get so much joy out of the joy you guys get out of this. You guys are really really cool. Thanks for discovering this and other stuff that doesnt get the praise it deservse
I have become literally addicted to Steven Wilson's music. I first heard Porcupine Tree "Fear of a Blank Planet" and went backwards, forwards, and sideways listening to all this man's songs and collaborations. I can't stop, have to have a dose every day. He does not have a bad song to quote another's comment. This was my second reaction video viewing from you two and I have enjoyed it. Even though I have listened to this artist's work (virtually all of it) it's like hearing for the first time watching the reactions. Keep on going. I reccomend listening to specifically Octane Twisted the live concert from Porcupine Tree's last album The Incident. The whole concert. Enjoy.
First time I heard this song was live in Belfast. I was a Steven Wilson fan and was just getting into the PT back catalogue. My reaction was similar to yours, couldn’t believe how good it was and as each part unfolded I was totally lost! Great video guys.
I had to watch this video three times consecutively I love this song so much.
Highly recommend watching the live version if you get the chance.
Greetings from Finland, the land of Nightwish. Had to subscribe for this, thou! This is the ultimate song. A suggestion outside what you've already listened to, a band called Marillion and songs like Invisible Man, Neverland and Great Escape (and plenty of more). You are a joy to watch!
Porcupine Tree is sooo awesome! I love them for years! ❤️
I never knew your son, but thanks to you guys, I feel like it's a huge loss. Love each other and don't forget what you have made of it. A son to be proud of.
I love it when you can honestly say, "You're gonna Love this", and KNOW that they'll love it.
Not sure if U guy's ever heard of "Porcupine Tree" Song Called: 'What Happens Now?' Please try listening to the Live Version From 'Anesthetize' Album... I think one of PT's more Underrated Songs...
soo good!
And can you believe he’s all self taught! Man it takes talent to create music like this. Prog is coming back in a major way🤘🏽🖤
I love Porcupine Tree......and I just found your fun first reaction videos. PT is really top shelf in so many regards.....crazy arrangements, harmonies, technical musicians that never overplay their part. Steve Wilson (genius) and Gavin Harrison (another genius) are a lot of the magic in this band but I don't want to diss the others in the group....this was the magic band that I never got to see but it's so good that there are many recorded audios and videos of them. They are in my all time top 5 religious experience bands. Kel-n-Rich you two are awesome! Subscribed! Chris
you guys get it, fantastic... this is how you FEEL a song.
Best reaction I've seen and heard yet thank you two
This right here is the absolute goals. Maybe someday I'll be listening to this with my loved one, connecting like you did. Loved your reaction guys! Appreciated it so much. 🖤
I love watching you guys enjoy music, especially Porcupine Tree. I've been on the PT train for only a few months myself. I thought this was my favorite song of their's... until I discovered every other song they ever recorded.
As glorious as this song is, the live version is even better. Watching and listening to them live is borderline transcendental. With regard to this song, Steven Wilson's guitar solos in the live version from Chicago are soul-piercing. React to it if you can, if not, just watch and enjoy.
Haha, love this reaction. You guys rock.
Porcupine Tree's "Arriving Somewhere...", the best track for rubbing foreheads (and possibly other things off camera).
As I understand it, this song is part of a broader concept about a recording engineer, a man who makes his living with his ears, getting into a tragic accident that renders him deaf. Then in his depression that follows, he starts to see (and hear, the only thing he can hear) ghosts of his own past. You can hear this song is about the accident, the immediate aftermath and his building anger. This and "Start of Something Beautiful" are both absolutely amazing from that album, Deadwing (itself a reference to a bird that has lost his greatest power, flight). Incredible album. Fun reaction from you two!
this might be the single greatest reaction video in YT history. I sure hope Mr S Wilson views this eventually.
You guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite reaction channels. I'm so happy you are discovering some of my favorite artists like Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson.
Great reaction - so genuine - as a biased fan it's so nice to see you making the faces I did the first time I heard this! Beautiful people - thanks.
Long time fan of all things Steven Wilson( his live works are even better). If you like prog, he has no bad Abums ,or collaborations. 2 more projects associated with SW are Blackfield ( try the song Blackfield...it will stick in your head for days), and No-man(totally different from his other work...All the Blue Changes is a good one)
Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth on the guitar solo of this song.... need to check out Opeth....Face Of Melinda, Ghost Of PERDITION( contains harsh vocals mixed in with clean), Cusp Of Eternity, and Harliquin Forest. Took me awhile to get used to the harsh vocals, but the musicianship is sooo good.
What Cosmic forces brought together this group of 4? One of the best modern bands today. Check out Pineapple Thief, Riverside, Katatonia.
Only 2nd song I've heard from this band. This is something I really like a lot!
Beautiful Reaction to a Masterpiece of Music❤
spending this COVID-19 weekend enjoying you guys listening to the bands I love while remodeling parts of my home. I'm a huge PT, Dream Theater, Riverside fan... love all your reactions. Thanks for helping me get through all this craziness!
Lights out laying down or in a comfortable chair is the best way to listen
There are so many levels in this song. Musicaly emotionaly intelectualy. They give bands like Metalica their warm milk and put them to bed. Period.
You guys are the best! AMAZING REACTION. You felt it all the way through. I enjoyed this so much! Keep it up!
You can already try ALL Porcupine tree and Steven Wilson discographys (even Blackfield)... you're allready have become fans ;-) Enjoy!!! It's pure gold for ears and heart.
You're both doing great. Keep it real ..... That's the best way to be.
The KnR channel has been a wonderful gift during sheltering from COVID. Whether working or volunteering for political campaigns from home, your reaction videos have been welcome company.
Until recently the experience has been a re-introduction or re-discovery of my favorite music from decades ago. I have always loved the prog/psychedelic/metal nexus of Pink Floyd, Yes, Rush, Genesis and others. Watching Kel react to these classics for the first time has made them fresh and new.
However, your recent run of Blackfield/ Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree along with Marillion has been an added treat as they are as new to me as to Kel.
A heartfelt thank you during these difficult times.
It's a thing of beauty to see my own wonder at first hearing Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson reflected in your own reactions. If you get the chance it would be interesting to see how you react to Raider II :D
Do Russia on ice! What an atmospheric song. Trust me you're going to be reacting the same way as this song :)
Your reaction made me smile so much, i had to "LIKE". 😅😄
Hi! Yesterday i stoped for see on of you video reaction... And untill now i cant stop to see, very confortable see other People listening my favorite music in this way... With love! Am very happy And thaks!
Regards from Chile!! (patagonia.... Maybe this is the perfect place to listen "the count of tuscany"
Sorry for the bad english...
Watching you two react to this song was incredible, took me back to the time I first heard it. The ear candy in the song leads to a total brain fuck, that leads into a total braingasm of just pure emotions that leave you happy and unnerved, All from a car crash point of view, and your passing. When its my time to go, I pray I can have this song playing.
I have been a avid fan of Porcupine Tree for many many years. Steven Wilson explores many roads for you mind to travel upon. Though I really love his old music better he has a few phenomenal songs that from his latest period that deserve a listen too.
Steven Wilson - Drive Home (got to watch the UA-cam Video---if you dont have tears by the end you're not human)
Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing
Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize - If you have not taken this blue pill I recommend it greatly! AWESOME DRUMS
I love your reactions. You guys have such an open mind and you're so in love. Kel loves the shit out of you. Keep her. She's awesome.
Check out Steven Wilson “The Raven That Refused To Sing” (the song off of the album of the same name)
I only discovered PT a few years ago, since when they are on constant play. Suggested songs you might like. Anesthetise, Half Light, She's moved on, Dark Matter, Collapse the light into earth. Have fun guys.
I think this is the best music reaction i have ever seen. Emotions.. Omg. She is so true about the music. Love it. I hope you guys had great.. Uhmm night :)
I wish my wife had this reaction to my music. :D
What an amazing couple listening to an equally amazing song! You truly feel the music and each other. I just saw you two for the first time This vid was just shared on the Steven Wilson official site. That was fun, thanks! When you think you are ready to feel some raw emotion, cue up Sounds That I Hear by the Norwegian band Airbag. Or more Steven Wilson....Routine comes to mind.
Worth noting that part of the chorus and guitar solo here were courtesy of Mikael Arkfeldt from Opeth. Steve mixed one their albums for them.
So basically on the same day, you two discovered (at least Kel) ..
Holy Wars and Arriving?
That had to be some day!
listen to this band live, they are fantastic! especially this song (better than studio)
You guys are my spirit animals when I am sad
Top ten songs of all time, maybe? Uncategorizable ( Is that a word-Who cares) as is the greatest music and lyrics. Balance, beauty and brains is the best way I can describe it.
Please react to
Porcupine Tree /// I drive the hearse
The live version is epic!
Another one that I really recommend is a emotional song called Crying For Help IV studio version, not the live version, by a great band called Arena. You may love it and make you feel deep emotions!
That is the most amazing work of art.
Music is so so powerful
one of my favorite song so awesome I loved your channel Kel -n Rich keep on going Thank you so much
Good job all reactions should be that way
WELCOME TO THE TREE :-D
Haven't heard from this subscriber in months. You guys OK? Love you guys.
Haha I found this video when looking for a video for it to send to you to watch!
You're a great couple! :)
And so cool how you go crazy with awesome music. lol also being fans of Rush, my fave bands with SW/PT.
How in the hell can anyone give this video a thumbs down? KnR you do a great job, love watching you
Lovely couple. Very genuine. Lots of respect to you. Why not try out Anathema (Weather Systems album - Untouchable Part 1 & 2)
anathema is such an underrated band :((
Whenever I listen to Porcupine Tree, I hear Opeth.
Whenever I listen to Opeth, I hear Porcupine Tree.
Funny that. 😲🙂👍
one of the best songs...
First time I've heard the studio version. The live version is just as cool! And, guys, check out 'Hate Song'...the subject matter is tough, but the music rules!

Just a killer, killer track. So powerful.
Beautiful couple
I really love how animated you guys are
You guys are truly in love
🌀😷LMAO! You guys have definitely reacted the best to this song I’ve seen so far. I’m new to the whole reaction video thing and to see someone, or two in your case, react almost exactly like I did when I first heard this song is incredible. Kel’s face in particular was right on the money as each shift in tempo came and the pair of you when the heaviest section arrived.... your expressions and the fact that you both suddenly opened your eyes and began rockin’ out at exactly the same moment.... wow! Great reaction to a great song, guys. I’m definitely gonna check out the rest of your videos now and you’ve got yourselves another subscriber. Cheers!😷🌀
Great choice. PT's "Even Less" is another great song by them. The live version of this song from their concert in Tillburg is an excellent live song.
I don't really like reaction videos in general. But so nice to see you guys connected so much through music! PT/Steven is amazing.
All your Reactions are amazing, I really enjoy how you rejoyce on songs that I love too, you have to try Anesthetize by Porcupine Tree, Trins by them wuld be great too, keep the great reactions!
You guys should react to Porcupine Tree - Fear of a blank planet (live)
Your so nice to see you in the same vibe
I'm betting Kel wore you out after hearing this. You know what I mean, Rich! LOL
