Such a pretty anthem. Definitely one of the classic European anthems that I've had stuck in my head for some time. It reminds me of Fernando Alonso winning in Formula 1!
In being another chorale-like anthem, the Spanish anthem was another fairly easy one to transcribe. I used nationalanthems.info and www.colin-kirkp... to speed up the process of transcribing the melody (these websites have the sheet music!) and I listened to recordings on UA-cam to get the rest of the voice parts done.
Spain's anthem (Marcha Real) is one of only three anthems in the world to have no official lyrics (This is the reason why you rarely see Spanish sportsmen singing along to their anthem). According to a 1761 document, Manuel de Espinosa de los Monteros is the composer of the anthem, which at the time, was known as The March of the Grenadiers. This makes the anthem one of the oldest in the world.
