For the bolter you could also convert a lasgun into an hot-shot lasgun by adding cables with wires or something. They have the same stat as the bolter in Kill Team
Interesting I did a lot of similar things here to you without seeing this video! I used Minka Lesk as the sergeant. I used a trooper with a autogun and trailing ammo from the Cadian upgrade sprue as the confidant vet. I used some of the heavy weapon and ordinance team bodies to mix it up for the spotter, sniper and the demo guy. For the demo guy I used kneeling pose, plasma bomb from a marine sprue which was cut to sit in ground in front of him and the ordinance model arms which are covering the ears. The options are insane for Cadian Vet guard kill team, I have ended up building every option for sergeants and confidant. The sniper I luckily had the old cadian upgrade so I used parts from the sniper rifle there on standard lasgun and extended barrel and scoped. Great video btw.
So I know it requires buying a whole other kit but if you pick up the Gaunts Ghosts box there is a super cool sniper in there, plus at least for my uses I love the pose of Gaunt Himself and I just run him as a regular commissar. It is a lot to spend on just a sniper though so id say get it if you can use the rest of the models too. I dig the kitbash! Edit- these are also on 28mm bases so you’ll need the extra 25mm for any you plan to run for the kill team
I did pull out that box and considered mentioning it. Gaunt could be in charge then have Corbec as his second in command. Rawne can be the bruiser. Mkoll maybe the spotter? Larkin the sniper of course and Bragg with his heavy autogun could maybe proxy as a gunner. Then find the guide by peachy on making camo cloaks from masking tape and start turning those cadians into Tanith troopers. It was at this point that I realised my brain had gone too far 😂
@@optimalgamestate I'm in the midst of assembling guardsmen fire teams from the compendium so this info saved me a LOT of frustration! Thanks! I bought classic guardsmen just for that kill team to start painting and playing WH40k after a 15 years break. I hate this stuff the whole hobby is just a jungle of obstruct information and nothing is straightforward.
Bit late but, the new brood brothers killteam has some great parts for a vet kill. Sniper, demolitions and medic.

Sounds like a great looking team! It really is a fantastic set of kits. I definitely enjoyed making them.
Nice work! Very clever conversions there, I like them.

This was really informative! Thanks for sharing
Nice hobby video.
Very useful, thank you!
Why did you go for the veterans and not the imperial guard squad?
The compendium killteams tend to be a little weaker. Really the Veterans are the replacement for the earlier compendium one.
