and 15 seconds slower than the 2018 Hamilton Mercedes F1 ...
I heard from experts, that the F1 2019 will be faster than 4 seconds in the 2018 vehicle counters.
so it is possible that the F1 car can achieve a lap time of 1 minute and 27 or 28 seconds ..wooooooow

@@chibixxmoon Because Indy is slow in comparison with F1 You just can't compare... You just have to see that the drivers that can't succeed in F1 end up in Indy... That doesnt tell you nothing? Marcos Casado so they are good enough to drive in formula one for a few seasons which would make them one of the top 20 drivers in the world but as soon as they move to Indy they suck? F1 is all about the car. Thy never had good enough ride in F1. They became stars in Indy because it is a spec series where the cars are on a much more level playing field. Their true driving skills show through.

Decent. Yeah, Verstappen in Q3 went 1.47.765 with Latifi lapping at 2.21.611 for Q1, split at 33.846, almost double the time here. And if you factor in that the quali lap for Indy was 5 seconds faster, that knocks it down to 12. Verstappen almost tripled it. Granted resurfacing and cold temps. But yeah, Turkey was not pretty, threw everyone's average gap over teammate stats right out the window. The average distance from pole to P20 as of post Turkey was 5.198 seconds, before that it was only 2.918. 2020 has been a banger!

I think the worst part about IndyCar is the massive inferiority complex the fans have when it comes to anything to do with Formula 1. Go on almost any IndyCar video and the comments are literally filled with people reassuring themselves and each other over and over that "IndyCar is so much better than F1 because....". I don't get it. You're allowed to like IndyCar guys. You don't need to validate it. Just because Formula 1 cars are faster on a track doesn't make IndyCar any better or worse it's just a simple comparison of 2 different series. I'd love to see them stick a stock car on this track and compare that too. Both of these cars would destroy a stock car on a road course, that doesn't mean NASCAR sucks. Summary of the pep talk: it's OK to be an IndyCar fan. Nobody is judging you just because Formula 1 cars are faster. Feel better?

The one thing that should be commen sense when you compare F1 to Indy is that any sane Motorsport fan who wants to se a good race with good on track action where the driver is the most important part should pick to watch an IndyCar race over a F1 race any day.

It is fun to compare the cars. I enjoy it and I'm a huge fan of both disciplines, including Nascar, drag racing or two snails running across the floor. I'll watch 'em because it's racing. I watch every one of those series when they are on TV. I follow them all. I hope we all can enjoy all racing for what it's worth: entertainment. The incredible acceleration and track stickiness of F1 cars, the insane 235+ MPH top speed of the Indy cars, the sound and excitement of 40+ Nascars tearing around tracks, the slickness of E-racing and the TT on the Isle of Mann. What we see are drivers with huge testicles and skill that we dream of having. We are in awe. Let's not negatively compare the series to each other. Ironically the two drivers shown here in this clip are my favorites from their respective series.

The McLaren MP4/13 did a run at laguna seca like 10 months ago and it was 1 second faster than pole position in Indycar's race there, and that was with the MP4/13 not being pushed 100% for obvious reasons, not being in the same fresh state it was 24 years ago and not having era-representative soft tires. Yes F1 is basically the absolute pinnicle of technilogical achievement. Yes Champcar was faster with more than 1000 hp, but why argue what's better...it's completely moot. Two completely different cars with two completely different rulesets. Racing is awesome! We all love it. It uses the same physics. Some are slower, some are faster, some are about technology and engineering and some are about the human user. Watch autocross, it's so frickin' fun to watch, and it is slow as fuck, but it's racing and that's what it's all about. @@themarketm8382 it's all to please motor companies. F1 doesn't really care much for sustainability. They've recently added races in countries with lots of oil after all. The thing is cars are either going electric or hybrid. However, to keep an ice engine, they'd have to use sustainable fuels to run them. Companies like Mercedes, Porsche and Toyota have been very vocal about sustainability in their projects. With their fuel, F1 would be making a lot of money. Another thing is the low emission V6s with hybrid systems are developed so car manufacturers can make more efficient engines. Going back to V10s (or V8s, which I prefer) would mean falling out with all of these companies who are looking for sustainability and efficiency. Believe it or not, this trend is mostly for economic benefits. As much as I like the push towards sustainability, F1 isn't doing it for moral reasons
Edit: also, another thing is it would likely cost manufacturers a lot money to redevelop V8s/V10s, which is a fair point. At the moment, Renault, Mercedes, Ferrari and Honda have similar engines. They wouldn't wanna risk another team having an enormous advantage through engine development, like Mercedes in 2014

Comparing Hamilton's 2018 pole lap and a IndyCar preseason testing lap is absurd from the start. Considering the triple digit million dollar budget differences for just one F1 team, IndyCar produces an incredible racing machine and franchise. 231 MPH pole speed for the 2020 Indy 500 is jaw dropping and I'm pretty sure an F1 car wouldn't be competitive at Indy because they're hybrids and rely on energy harvesting to replenish their battery and at Indy it's flat out, very little braking.

For simple perspective Indycar speeds around a balanced circuit are almost exactly equal to f2. 17 seconds a lap slower is going to get lapped every 6 laps. 17 seconds is such a big margin that no matter how much you analyse it they are two different worlds, from the fastest teams to the slowest the difference is massive. If F1 raced ovals then the top end would also be higher, it's clearly not beneficial on any f1 circuit so they just don't need it.

Look at how much harder to drive the IndyCar is. The driver is giving constant corrections round the corners and is even having to steer on the straights. Hamilton can just point the F1 car where he wants it and it sticks.
Would like it if F1 cars became more difficult to drive again, even if it meant they were slower.

    • @naycnay
      @naycnay 4 роки тому +1

Just saying, having a car fight you isn't a sign of it being difficult to drive; but the signs of forgiveness and flexibility at the cars limits. F1 cars have a tendency to look like they are on rails until they just snap out. This is due to downforce, not the car just easily turning corners.
In reality, F1 fights the drivers all the time. A big part of F1 is per-race setup on a car design/package that is bespoke to that constructor. Hamilton has a very smooth racing style with a long-rake Mercedes and spent the entire weekend dialling in the car's setup to his perfection to pull off a close to perfect qualy lap. A short rake car might looks a lot more twitchy, such as Max Verstappen in his Red Bull.

Fan of both as well and last season Indycar had some great racing and one of the best overtakes I have seen in any racing series happened during the long beach race, definitely one of the must watch championships for all race fans. Also, a car requiring more driver input to drive could indicate an issue with drive ability which is based on a number of factors from setup, to driver's driving style to chassis/engine design. Looking at it the rear of that Indycar seemed very loose every time the driver got on the power which could be dealt with with a setup adjustment and then it would require less steering input to manage.
It also looks like the Indycar has less power steering and steering damping than the F1 car so all the little bumps are much more noticeable but this is expected since Indycars generate less downforce so less force resisting steering inputs.

It certainly looks like the specs on the F1 machines make for more speed through turns, more rapid deceleration under braking, I couldn't tell about top straight line speed. The tires on the F1 cars looked like they put substantially more rubber on the track surface which would make a huge difference on a road surface for all three dynamic situations, acceleration, breaking and turning.
I suspect the F1 cars might STILL have an advantage on an oval like Indianapolis, but maybe the gap would be less? A track like COTA is the natural habitat of the F1 technology, everything tailored made for that.
The F1 stuff does look more demanding to drive, so it's hard to argue that their drivers aren't the very best. But the "space program" budgets of the F1 teams....wow!
I suppose Indycar could spec up their machines and be as quick as F1, but that might not make for better racing for venues like the ovals. Would it compromise safety running F1 specs on ovals? I don't know.
No reason not to love Indycar racing though. "Gentlemen (and and sometimes Ladies)....Start your Engines!" (I'm old school, sorry)
