      Base-layer is sorted, but assuming you have neoprene feet waders what do you wear on your feet? Socks? What type?

    I thought that Brian was going to suggest going commando, but knowing about using base layers year around was really good information. Thanks again Brian and MRO. BRUCE

    The only thing I wear under my waders is butter 🤟 they slip off real easy👌

      Can't believe he forgot that part. He's out of the "like butter" club until further notice.

      Only problem with butter is you need to wash them more often.

    Thanks for making the videos AND keeping them up! Two years later after you made it and this video was a great help because I am relatively new to fly fishing after years of gear fishing.

    Just purchased the G3 waders and got out with them the first time this weekend and I could not be happier! The Simms website says this: WHAT TO WEAR UNDER YOUR WADERS
    Don't wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Proper layering will help wick moisture away from your body and compliment the wader's breathable properties. Otherwise you'll feel wet and clammy even in the best waterproof, breathable waders made.
    But they don't suggest what you SHOULD wear so this was very helpful.

    Great video and thanks for the tips! Only thing I would on the top is a an air/wind barrier like a wading jacket or gortex jacket. Fleece is a great insulator, but doesn't offer any protection to the wind. Thanks and keep up the good work!

    When in the cold wet cotton transfers heat faster than plain air, so not only will cotton impact the breathability of your waders but can drop your temperature super fast in cold conditions.

    When neoprene waders came on the scene. Went to the local shop wearing sweats and a flannel shirt. To try some on. Beyond weight loss I almost passed out.

      I got neoprene waders for my birthday when they were the new thing, they were great in winter but in summer i would almost sweat to death hiking about the river 😂😂

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  5 років тому

      Richard Rendall They were actually pretty bad in the winter too if you did anything other than sit in a duck blind.

    • @r10rrr39
      @r10rrr39 5 років тому

      Yea, any walking and you would sweat and be really cold when you stopped. Breathables are the perfect solution to both but dont last long charging through the riverside bushes and rocks.

    I'm thinking spandex like fleece lined cycling tights. My waders fit great, but the rubber lining really prevents me from easily squatting (with jeans). If the suspenders were a little looser, I guess it would be better, but I wonder if some cycling tights would allow them to slide better without grabbing on so tight when I try to sit down.

    is 6 too heavy for crappy and bluegill. Getting started and only want to buy one wt and want to get a good all around rod and 6 seemed to be it(since where I tends to have crappie, bluegill, and smaller bass)

    Aren't "tropical" fly lines formulated for very warm water? I know some places in the Gulf the water gets very warm. The ocean on the west coast is much colder than the Gulf or the Atlantic. Especially when you get up to the Bay Area.
