    Original Skateboards Pro rider Axel Serrat enjoys his home city Barcelona, his way, this time experimenting on a slightly shorter deck. The Apex 34.
    Developed as a viable option for shorter / lighter riders looking for an Apex, Axel has adopted the Apex 34 as an easy to carry city cruiser that pops perfectly when paired with RKP trucks and noseguards.

    For smaller riders who want to carve, slide and throw a bunch of freestyle tricks in there it is certainly a pretty awesome option. The main reason to buy an Apex is that the construction has been tuned specifically toward freestyle, ie. it doesn't lose pop with repeated use and it doesn't break. Add the PK nose guards and these things last forever.
    Of course if you are doing serious speed stuff (above 30 or 35mph) you may want to look at something like an Arbiter 36 etc.

    Hey KG,
    We make our stuff in the states, we care about what we do and we take care of our riders; first by building good boards, second by backing them up 100% if something goes wrong.
    The fact of the matter is that if you are building boards in the states, you aren't building junk, and we certainly aren't.
    Your friend either doesn't like carving, hates OG's for one reason or another, or just doesn't know what he's talking about. Stoked that you asked though haha

    great beginner boards are our Pintail series which are meant for cruising and carving purposes. For your size, you could get the Pintail 37. -Lindsay

    Hi Tyler! The Av Rocker has reversed camber, meaning the deck is slightly shaped like a "U". This means the kicks are a bit higher than the DC, so the AV Rocker is geared more towards freestyle. The Double Concave has micro drops which offer comfy pockets for you to plant your feet. I like the DC for sliding because you can use the micro drops to push out your slides easily. -Lindsay

    A good board to start with if you want to skate a bit of everything would be the Apex 40 Double Concave! It is real nice for learning, and is an amazing all around board. It can do pretty much all aspects of riding very well. Let me know if you have any more questions!

    Check out the Apex 40 double concave! It's meant for freestyle and freeriding purposes! I suggest putting the PK Nose Guards on the board to enhance the kicks and also add protection to the board. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Hey Dustin! The Pintail 40 is meant more for cruising and carving purposes. The Apex series will definitely handle riding in skateparks much better if you're looking to do some freestyle, and they also handle speeds better as well. Check out the Apex 40 double concave, which is great for freestyle and freeriding. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    For lots of Freestyle and sliding I suggest the Apex 40 Diamond Drop. It's durable and has kicks for freestyle, and the concave keeps you locked during slides. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    For freeriding, either of those will be great for you. The stock bushings in the Bears will be a bit softer than the Paris ones, but they will freeride relatively similar.

    Hey Alex! Happy early birthday :) Check out the Apex 40 Diamond Drop for a board that slides nicely, is great for high speed riding, and is awesome for freestyle. Put some PK nose guards on the board to make it even more durable than it already is, and also enhance the freestyle performance even more. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Check out the Pintail 40 with some red medium tension springs in the S8 trucks. This set up will keep you stable while learning, and the board is good for cruising and carving purposes. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    You can for sure get the board without them.
    That's one of the reason we made them removeable as opposed to molded in.
    My suggestion would be to go the other way around. Get the guards and make SURE you don't like them. They are one of the biggest upgrades any longboard has had in a very long time, and they are NOT the same as the other noseguards out there on the market. I would be really surprised if after riding them you didn't prefer the board with the noseguards ON vs. OFF.

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Generally the inner smaller wheelbases will produce more pop. The thing to remember is that Axel is a freaking beast. I would be hard pressed to ollie that bench in a month let alone first try like he did haha
    Keep practicing but also keep in mind that it's relative. Oh one more thing, newer nose guards give more pop, as they get worn more they flex when they hit the ground, so max pop is with new guards that havent been worn away.

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Hey B, remember that the Apex 34 is a sliding deck for very small riders only.
    Assuming you are below 5'2 or 5'3 the DoubleConcave would be my choice as a fantastic all around / sliding deck for a smaller rider ; )

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Hi Chris! Check out the Apex 40 double concave. It's meant for freestyle and freeriding, and although it's a high performance board, it's easy to learn on because it's low and stable! -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Hey LTJ,
    Apex 34 is going to be small for you for sure. You have to remember that the Apex is designed for that stuff, even in the longer versions. While some of the riders pull out the Apex 34 from time to time just to rock a shorter board, you could just as easily (in that situation) go with a more traditional deck.
    My suggestion would be to go with either the Apex 40 DiamondDrop or to wait on the new Apex 37 DC that comes out next month if you want something for more pure freestyle.

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Check out our Pintail 40 for a good cruiser. It's meant for cruising, carving, smaller hills, and you can definitely learn how to slide with it. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    It's not always about the duro of the wheel when it comes to sliding. When you're just starting out, sometimes going with a harder wheel may be easier to slide with. However, as you progress, you may want a softer wheel for a more buttery slide instead of an icey slide. This all has to do with the shape of the wheel, the materials used to make the wheel, the pavement you're riding on, and personal preference. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Have you looked at the Apex 40 Diamond Drop? It sounds like EVERYTHING that you want. This board is great for higher speed freeriding and keeps you locked in for slides with it's kinky deep concave. It's very durable and is also great for freestyle tricks. Add the PK Nose Guards to the deck and you'll enhance the freestyle performance of the board even more! -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Pop isnt going to change much with trucks, though sometimes the truck height and truck angle do make a difference depending on the riders mechanics.
    If you don't have the PK noseguards thats where most of the pop comes from. That's the first place to start. Second is making sure you stomp your tail down hard and let it contact the ground. Thats where the snap up comes from.

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    For sure one the boards from our Apex seriese! I would recommend the Apex 40 Double Concave, it is our most versatile all around board, and does it all really well! Have fun, and let me know if you have any more questions!

    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    For your height and weight, I suggest checking out the Drop Freeride 41. It will allow you to have a wider stance, and the dropped concave will make learning how to slide easy! -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Hey Liam! I always recommend the nose guards as they have saved my board MANY times. They protect the nose and tail from impact hits.. and the best part about them is they add height to the kicktails which enhances the board's freestyle performance as well! -Lindsay

    Hey! Happy almost birthday! I think for what you're looking for, I would look into a Freeride 41, Arbiter 36, or Maven 35! Those are great boards for sliding, cruising, and big hillin'. Have a good one! - Bish

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    You can go with either. The Drop Freeride will be a bit more stable, and you can do the occasional freestyle trick with it, but it's not as durable as the Diamond Drop. I personally prefer the Diamond Drop for all-around riding because it's great for freeriding and it is much more durable for freestyle. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Nah thats the normal mounting locations.
    Drilling these boards is a pain in the ass with the fiberglass and carbon fiber so you usually wont find Apexes drilled very often. The inner mounts are pretty close to the drop so I can't see wanting to move them in at all. Really the key to how Axel is riding is the noseguards, that's what gives him the pop and really makes the Apex crazy good for freestyle etc.

  • @originalskateboards

    For your height, and because you're interested in doing freestyle, I suggest going with the Apex 34! It'll be a bit easier for you to do flip tricks with because it's smaller and you'll be able to maneuver it easier. -Lindsay

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 років тому

    Yeah for sure.
    I mean the thing is, regardless of how they look, they change the performance of the deck like nothing else I have ever tried. My suggestion is to TRY the board with them, then try the board with out. I would bet that you end up liking the guards after trying them.

    Hey Mary! The Apex 34 double concave is great for freestyle, and if you're a smaller rider then it's also awesome for sliding since it has those comfy micro drops to plant your feet in. What are you trying to improve on? What is your current set up? -Lindsay

    I agree. I also like that some folks are blurring the line between "longboarding" style and "street skateboarding" style. Both of them have cool aspects to them, why not blend them together?
