It must be so such a good feeling to shoot videos like this .. riding through a city full of tourists and pedestrians - just one guy being awesome on a longboard, another one filming while riding a longboard and hundreds of stunned people watching as they pass by. Also: Original, you are the best! I love your videos.
@BackStreetCreations the rocker concave is geared more towards freestyle riding, and is reversed camber. The trucks are pushed outwards a bit, which makes sliding easy. The w concave is geared more towards bombing hills and high speed. There's a small bump that goes down the center of your board and fits into the arches of your feet. This keeps you locked in during high speeds.
@ainesmilees we do ship to Australia for $60 and it usually takes about 7-10 business days for you to get your board. Because the apex 34 is a limited edition, shops in Australia do not carry it, you would have to order off our site.
@ZiptiedNissanS14 both boards are very different. The Torpedo has a ton of flex compared to the freerides, and uses risers with Original s6 trucks. This board is meant for carving and cruising around. The Freeride is much stiffer, comes with two different concaves, is symmetrical shaped, has kicks, and can be dropped or top mounted. If you aren't certain which board to get then I would recommend the Freeride 41 rocker concave because it will allow you to do diverse types of riding
@ButterYerToast check out our Malakai 40, Torpedo 40, and Pintail 37 or 40. The Malakai and Torpedo have a bit more flex and are great carving boards. The Pintails are lower to the ground and a bit stiffer, making them more stable for cruising. With Original trucks, the pintails are also great for carving.
@2d719 your entire set up will reflect how easy it is to slide, as well as your riding ability. Specific boards are designed for sliding, making it easier to slide.. however, you could slide with almost any board. The wheels will help you a lot if you have a good sliding wheel. Also, make sure you have enough speed behind you for momentum, and really push out your back leg. Don't forget to open up your hips and shoulders too.
@silentsniper912 the Malakai 40 and Torpedo 40 are both great cruising and carving boards. They have a decent amount of flex to them so they carve easily. The pintail series are also good cruising and carving boards. They are stiffer and lower to the ground making them more stable, and they also come in 4 different sizes.
@radiomindtherapy you would be fine with the freeride 38. It is a bit heavier than the Apex 37 but you aren't too small for it at all. The Freeride is made for sliding and can handle some tricks as seen in this video. The Apex is easier to carve with at lower speeds, and is mainly for freestyle. I think you would be happy with either board.
@Zlimzz the pintails are cheaper, and you can slide and do smaller hills with them, however they ride completely different from the freerides. The pintails are more meant for cruising.
For sure! The rocker will push the trucks outwards a bit making slides easy during freeriding. The kicks will also be a bit higher for the occasional freestyle trick.
Check out our Pintail series! They are meant for cruising and carving purposes, but you can also dance with them, learn how to slide, and take them down some smaller hills. They come in four different sizes depending on your height and weight.
@MrMorganKarma if you are just starting out then I recommend checking out the pintail series. They are great boards for beginners through advanced riders and are meant for cruising, carving, and commuting. For you, I suggest getting the Pintail 40.
@sk8cola217 original trucks use a single spring for carving instead of a rubber bushing. There's a good description about them on our website if you click on products and then hardware. You do not need to get original trucks with your apex, you can also get bushing trucks, depending on the riding you are looking to do.
@EarthPlays the Apex 34 is smaller, lighter, and does not have the carbon reinforcement bar. The Apex 37 has the carbon reinforcement bar, more concave and camber, and a longer nose and tail, making it not just good for freestyle, but also freeriding. Watch the Apex 2011 Longboard video for more info. Freerides- w concave for freeriding, bombing, and slides. Rocker concave if you plan to do more freestyle and less freeriding. Call us up if you have more questions!!
@2yjsnowman sure! You can keep the black springs in the trucks if you are looking to carve easily, or you can put the red medium tension springs in your trucks for a bit more stability.
@LaxPlayer8796 the 40 is still great for flat land freestyle. The Apex 40 is pretty much an all around performance board, and it doesn't limit you. It is a bit longer than the 37, which may make certain flip tricks harder, however, it has kick tails and the 37 does not.
@sooperWOWman11 you can slide with the pintail, as seen in the pintail video. It's a great cruiser and carver and can handle speeds under 25 mph, but if you're looking to go faster and do slides at a higher speed then you may want to look into getting one of the Freeride boards.
@lepetitMachete freeride with rocker concave. As for trucks I suggest going with the Bears for sliding, and for wheels either some abec 11 flashbacks 78a or 81a.
For DH and Freeriding purposes I'd say check out the drop Freeride 41. BUT, since you're also look to ride in bowls or skate parks, you'll probably want a bit more flex. If that's the case, then check out our Apex 40 Diamond Drop, or Apex 40 Double Concave. Both of these boards are a bit more versatile
The guys are riding the Original Skateboards Freeride 41 RockerConcave in most of this video. I can't remember if they used the Freeride 38 version but there is a pretty good chance the shorter version (38 inches) made an appearance to go with that Freeride 41. Either way both boards are great, affordable, extremely versatile options to get on board.
Check out our Derringer 28! It's an awesome city board since it's small, and can make quick carves! It can use Original trucks if you're looking for a surfy carving feeling, or you can put bushing trucks on it if you want a more stable ride during higher speeds.
Hey Ben, For the type of riding you are looking to do, you would be best off with the Rocker Concave. I also suggest checking out our Apex 40 if you are interested in doing Freestyle as well as freeriding. The Apex 40 is much more durable because it has a carbon reinforcement bar
@cc83195 check out the hybrid 35! It's made to simulate surfing, and it has a kick tail that you can place your back foot on while riding to really snap into your carves.
@ImaFishGobbleGobble the freerides are stable and easy enough to learn how to ride on. I suggest getting the rocker concave and a harder wheel so when you want to learn to slide it'll be easier.
@kuso1426 for sliding, look for a wheel that has rounded edges and a durometer of 80a or higher and you should be able to slide. Some popular sliding wheels are the Flashbacks, Freerides, Grippins, and Stimulus
@KingBuu22 The Freeride boards are made for speed and sliding, I would check them out. If you're just learning how to slide then go with the rocker concave deck, it will make sliding a lot easier for you.
@FarSightGaming if you want to do slide, hills, carving, cruising, and freestyle then go for the rocker concave. If you're looking to bomb hills at high speeds then the w concave would be a good choice.
@pizzacrustcrumbs98 It will certainly do them. The issue is really that you are working with a wood deck. We did a lot of work to the Apex 37 to make sure it held up through all of the freestyle stuff you see us doing. It is designed specifically to do that, and hold up to that sort of punishment. Unfortunately for all of us there is no way for a straight wood board to ever compete in the strength department. Luckily for all of us, they aren't as expensive and can be replaced.
@pioneerrocket22 you should go for the Freeride 38 since you have a small stance. It will still be stable enough for you! You can order it right now over the phone, or you can wait until it's up on our website which will be soon.
@nz510 check out our Malakai and Torpedo 40! Both boards are great for cruising and carving, and have a good amount of flex to them! The come with s6 trucks, but you can upgrade to the s8s for all around performance, or the s10s for maximum stability! Put a harder wheel on either of these boards and they can definitely slide.
@KingBuu22 rocker is usually more versatile for the rider. It makes sliding very easy, it's better for freestyle, and it can still handle faster speeds. W concave means the deck is literally slightly shaped like a w, so there's a small raised bump that fits into the arch of the riders feet. This keeps the rider feeling locked into the board, so they are most stable during high speeds.
@goblerful the Freeride 41" with rocker concave would be a good switch for you. It's great for higher speeds, freeriding, and is also good for some freestyle riding as well.
@davidharrigan118 Depends on what kind of riding you wanna get into: if you wanna get into freeriding/downhill/sliding and also freestyle the Freeride will be better suited, but if you want a board for carving, cruising and freestyle the Apex 37 will be a better choice.
@JoshTheIslander for just cruising around and doing some tricks the Apex 37 may be a better choice. If you're looking to go over 25 mph then you would want to go with the freeride board.
@ethanfortenberry If you want a board that will not snap, and something that can handle freestyle and freeriding, then check out the Apex 40. It's made with carbon so the necks will not snap. It also comes with either rocker concave of double concave.
@andrewoidicious definitely the 41 since you'll have a wider stance. Get the rocker if you want something for more versatile riding, or the w concave if you're looking to strictly bomb hills
@GladiatorSandwiches if you are looking for higher speeds then the Pintail 38 rocker concave would be a good board for you. If you are looking to cruise, carve, and stay under 25 mph then the Pintail 40 would be a good choice.
@liltelman402 it doesn't really matter. Usually whatever foot you feel most comfortable at the front of the board you would want to push with the back foot.
Check out the Apex 40! Rocker concave is geared more for freestyle, and double concave is geared more towards freeriding. However, both concaves can handle both types of riding!
@isaactrujillo we use upgraded wheels. If you are using the standard wheels that came with the board then they are a bit difficult to slide with since they are so soft in durometer.
wow! this video is unreal! production quality is sick, the riders are mind blowing and the music is perfect. this truly sums up the revolution of this sport. Beastin'!
@wwaynewee impact hits may cause issues with the nose and tails, as with any other wooden board. Check out "Oogoo." It's a silicon putty that can be molded around the nose and tail which helps with impact hits.
@EmoSK8erKIDforlife if you want a stiffer board with stability during cruising check out the Pintail 37. If you want something with a bit more flex and is easy to carve with then you may like the Malakai 40 or Torpedo 40!
@crh094 the pintail 40, torpedo 40, or malakai 40 would all be a good choice to cruise and carve on. The Torpedo and Malakai have more flex to them, and the Pintails are lower to the ground and more stiff.
I've riden the Loaded tan tien,Jet doppler,Honey Chameleon,BC eel..but used a freeride 38 with w concave that your guys team rider Brett Ciabattini was using at a slide jam and just fell in love with it.Got the freeride 41 with w concave, took it upto GMR and handled the speed well and loosened up the set up went freeriding, just an amazing all around board. You guys really stepped it up with it.
@ethanfortenberry The Apex 40 with double concave would be a great freeriding board and will not snap during freestyle riding since it has a carbon reinforcement bar.
It really depends on the type of riding you are looking to do! If you are sticking to mostly flat land freestyle and you want something a bit lighter and smaller, then the Apex 37. The Apex 40 would be better if you plan on also freeriding, or if you want kicks.
@L0NGB0ARDING4LIFE37 they're both for different types of riding, so it all depends on which type of riding you prefer. Apex 37 for freestyle, and Freeride for freeriding and sliding. In order to become sponsored you would have to email us a video of yourself skating and we would watch it and let you know!
@samskittwith your height and weight you could go with any spring. Check out our description about all three under the hardware section on our website. The black springs are great for cruising and carving, the red would be good for freestyle, and the white would be the best if you're freeriding.
@alexelliott40 we do ship to Canada! You were on the domestic shipping page, you can skip that page and go on with the ordering process. Shipping to Canada is a flat rate of $30
@TheOfficialBobert if you're taller than 5'8 then you would be more comfortable on the 41" since you would have a wider stance. If you are used to smaller boards and you don't want to go that big you can still go with the 38"
@SinaSyndrome The freeride 41 would be better for your height since you'll most likely have a wider stance. If you are looking for versatility, higher speeds, sliding, freestyle, and carving, then the rocker concave would be best for you. If you are looking to bomb hills and stability during high speeds, then the w concave will help keep your feet locked into the board. As for wheels, it all depends on what you like. The Abec 11 flashbacks are great for a buttery slide
@2yjsnowman check out the pintail series. They are great boards for beginners because they're stiffer, stable boards that are good for cruising and carving. They also come in 4 different sizes depending on your height and weight, and the riding you would like to do.
@Sammytinkle Are you looking for speed specifically, it sounds like there are some slides etc thrown in there. I would go for the Freeride 28 WConcave which will fit your height nicely. Alternately since you are a smaller rider you could also step up to the Freeride 41 which gives you more wheelbase and more stability IF you are looking for max stability etc, that might be the best way to go.
@grizzly14moore You have a couple of good options, but each option is going to slant one direction or another. Carving Slant: Check out a mid length Pintail (Pintail 40, Pintail 43) That said you will have more versatility with either the Original Freeride 41 or Freeride 38 (with not as much carving). Further more you could look at the Apex 37 which has more Freestyle durability than any of those options.
@LaxPlayer8796 the Apex 40 would be better for freeriding and sliding. It's much more stable at higher speeds and you can also get it in double concave for more control during sliding. The Apex 37 is geared more towards flat land freestyle, cruising, and carving.
@THEkdude420 go for the rocker concave then. The w concave is best for bombing hills because it keeps your feet locked in for stability. The rocker concave will be easier to do slides with
@xxJAKEnBAKExx Unfortunately no set of trucks can do it all. Sometimes to gain performance in one spot you have to sacrifice it in another. If the riding we are doing doesn't call for an Original truck, we aren't going to use it, that being said, this is about the boards. Thanks for the support.
@thunder23731 If you are looking to do mostly freestyle and freeriding sometimes then you may want to take a look at our new Apex 40 that we just released. It will be up on our website soon with more info, or you can call and place the order over the phone. Otherwise, I would recommend the Freeride 38 with rocker concave, or the Apex 37 middleweight flex.
@walptraum the w would be best for bombing hills and higher speeds. The rocker concave would be best if you plan on doing many different types of riding, such as freeriding, freestyle, bombing hills, and just cruising and carving.
@iRawrDinsawr the 41 inch would be better for you because it's a bit longer and will allow you to have a wider stance since you're pretty tall. Also, if you're looking to do freestyle and freeriding then I suggest getting the rocker concave.
@xspecialops since you'll have a wider stance you should get the 41" freeride. Go with the bears trucks and some 81a flashbacks for sliding and smooth ride down some large hills
I bought a board at the beginning of summer, and used er quite a bit for a while. Then slowed down. My buddy went off to school, and I haven't really used it anymore..after watching this video, I actually took it out by myself down by the lake, and had a great time cruising around by myself. Not as much fun, but definitely was worth it.
@flamingnoob123 The Apex 40, the Pintail 43 or the Freeride 41 with rocker concave would all be a good size for you depending on the type of riding you are looking to do.
@oturner45zink this board was made for what you're looking to do!! You'll also have an easy time learning with this board since it's low to the ground and stable.
twelve years, and this MASTERPIECE is as relevant as the day is was uploaded for the first time. Fkcn rad.
This company has the greatest longboarders and longboarding videos i have ever seen. I hope one day i can be this good.
no matter if you hate or love their boards, this crew has taken the filming/editing in the longboarding scene to a whole other level! Keep it up guys!
It must be so such a good feeling to shoot videos like this .. riding through a city full of tourists and pedestrians - just one guy being awesome on a longboard, another one filming while riding a longboard and hundreds of stunned people watching as they pass by.

awesome city skate footage & great music soundtrack!
@lepetitMachete freeride with rocker concave. As for trucks I suggest going with the Bears for sliding, and for wheels either some abec 11 flashbacks 78a or 81a.

i picked up the freeride 41 a few days ago and have been loving it ever since! thank you original for the great board!
@FarSightGaming if you want to do slide, hills, carving, cruising, and freestyle then go for the rocker concave. If you're looking to bomb hills at high speeds then the w concave would be a good choice.

Apec 40 double concave, for sure! It can handle freestyle riding and also is great for freeriding and higher speeds.
@goblerful the Freeride 41" with rocker concave would be a good switch for you. It's great for higher speeds, freeriding, and is also good for some freestyle riding as well.

@KingBuu22 the freerides were structurally designed to slide and handle speed very well
@ElitePoopJerky the freeride 38 for your height and weight. The rocker concave or w concave depends on the riding you're looking to do.
Beastin'!
@Evalizer hey! Yes we do ship to Canada. It's a flat rate of $30 and we use Federal Express
@Troutter1 either the freeride 41 with rocker concave, or the Apex 40 if you're interested more in freestyle riding.
@wwaynewee impact hits may cause issues with the nose and tails, as with any other wooden board. Check out "Oogoo." It's a silicon putty that can be molded around the nose and tail which helps with impact hits.
@pizzacrustcrumbs98 Hey! I think you'll be fine with the Randals! You can always get a different bushing to change up the way your trucks feel.
@EmoSK8erKIDforlife if you want a stiffer board with stability during cruising check out the Pintail 37. If you want something with a bit more flex and is easy to carve with then you may like the Malakai 40 or Torpedo 40!

@puddleFTW awesome!! glad you like it! Thanks for letting us know :)
This is back during our prototypes, and we just happened to put the heat transfer for the 38 on the 41.
It really depends on the type of riding you are looking to do! If you are sticking to mostly flat land freestyle and you want something a bit lighter and smaller, then the Apex 37. The Apex 40 would be better if you plan on also freeriding, or if you want kicks.

@thunder23731 the Apex 37 middle weight, for mostly freestyle, or you could get the Apex 40 since it has kicks for freestyle, but can also freeride.
@TheOfficialBobert if you're taller than 5'8 then you would be more comfortable on the 41" since you would have a wider stance. If you are used to smaller boards and you don't want to go that big you can still go with the 38"
@TheMrjkerr87 for sliding and freeriding the Freeride 41 with rocker concave would be a great board for you!!
@IBangedPrincessPeach Hey! For that kind of riding you should check out the Apex 37. A fun cruiser with tails for freestyling/fun.
@Originalskateboards Thanks guys! I have decided on the 38 w/c but I love you guys! Your apex is great!
@martyshaffer97 i'm not sure, we don't have an Apex 41! But if we did, it would most likely hold 287 lbs with the carbon fiber reinforcement bar.
@1xskaterguyx11 the rocker is best for freestyle and sliding. The W is best for control and stability during high speeds of over 35 mph.
@grizzly14moore You have a couple of good options, but each option is going to slant one direction or another.
Carving Slant: Check out a mid length Pintail (Pintail 40, Pintail 43)
That said you will have more versatility with either the Original Freeride 41 or Freeride 38 (with not as much carving).
Further more you could look at the Apex 37 which has more Freestyle durability than any of those options.
@26ferran26 yes we do. International shipping costs $60 USD
@LaxPlayer8796 the Apex 40 would be better for freeriding and sliding. It's much more stable at higher speeds and you can also get it in double concave for more control during sliding. The Apex 37 is geared more towards flat land freestyle, cruising, and carving.
@iLongBoardNew the Freeride 38 would be the right sized board for you, and this board is made for sliding!
@THEkdude420 go for the rocker concave then. The w concave is best for bombing hills because it keeps your feet locked in for stability. The rocker concave will be easier to do slides with
@SomeoneSimple95 Bear trucks and Paris trucks are great for a stable feel, but slide and carve well.
@LongboardBail it's possible, just a bit more difficult since the board is bigger and slightly heavier.
@Da808Pryde the Freeride 38 would be best for your height. If you're looking to still carve then go with the rocker concave.
@walptraum the w would be best for bombing hills and higher speeds. The rocker concave would be best if you plan on doing many different types of riding, such as freeriding, freestyle, bombing hills, and just cruising and carving.
@SomeoneSimple95 Go with Bear trucks and keep the standard bushing in them!
@TheOpensights Either the Apex 37, or the Apex 40. The Apex 40 is better if you're planning on doing a lot of freeriding as well as freestyle.
@iRawrDinsawr the 41 inch would be better for you because it's a bit longer and will allow you to have a wider stance since you're pretty tall. Also, if you're looking to do freestyle and freeriding then I suggest getting the rocker concave.
@MetalHead1310 the Apex 34 would be a great board for your height and weight, and will definitely help you get into freestyle riding!
@LeGiTCANADIAN37 we do ship to Canada for a flat rate of $30. Once the board ships, it usually takes 2 business days for the board to be delivered.
@xspecialops since you'll have a wider stance you should get the 41" freeride. Go with the bears trucks and some 81a flashbacks for sliding and smooth ride down some large hills
@ryanlikespeaches for cruising and carving the Pintail 43 or 46 would be a good board for you!
The Freeride 41" would be best for you because it offers a wider stance! Once you order, it takes about 5 business days to get to Spain!
@JFD1220 the pintails series would be good boards for you! They come in 4 different lengths.
@walptraum yes, we do ship to Germany! It's a flat rate of $60 for shipping.
@Bubbledanceteam the freeride 38 with rocker concave would be a good board for your size and for the type of riding you are looking to do.
