I had upper and lower metal braces fitted for the first time ever (as a 58 yr old man) on 08/11/23 with rear bite blocks (my teeth are fairly straight albeit with slight age-onset crowding of my lower front teeth but with a deep bite). Unusually, my orthodontist fitted a powerchain to my lower teeth at the same first visit when my braces were fitted too. It is now a week later and I have not had any pressure, pain or sensitivity from my teeth at all even where the powerchain is. The only discomfort I’ve had is that my cheeks got pretty cut-up from days 3-6 but that’s resolving now too. I have not needed to take any painkillers at all. The bite blocks made eating (chewing) a challenge for the first 2-3 days but I have been eating fairly normal meals for the last 4-5 days now (albeit, I would probably struggle with eating a bacon sandwich or a steak!). Judging from all the people who seemingly struggle with pain and / or chewing, I seem to have got away lightly having had no pain at all even with a powerchain installed immediately!
That’s so good to hear that it’s gone pretty smoothly for you!! It can definitely be restricting and change up your habits a little. But I’m glad it’s going well for you! Best of luck for you and your journey through it! It’ll be so worth it at the end!
Braces look good on you ! Had my top and bottom on last week ! its so weird my lips keep getting stuck when i talk 😅 but it feels good now i kinda like the feeling lol they already gave me the bands 1st day... cant even open my mouth hope ill get used to it

Right!! I have to over pronounce my words. 😆Waking up is usually when my mouth hurts the worst, I guess from it just resting on the braces all night!
That mouth opener thing looks like the game "speak out"! 😂
😂 not a game I want to play!

You took the pot out of the stove and put it on the bare counter 🥹🫨🫨🙃
🤣 I could never!! You just can't see the potholder placemat... I spent too much money to ruin my beautiful countertops 😅😆
