That poor tractor when you took out the oil plug. I've had mornings just like that!
Perhaps that's why your Mum called you Oliver! 😆
(Les ducks & runs!)
After Taco Bell?
Some Imodium may be required.
When you're 65, every morning's like that! Well... almost ;)
You and me both!
"I bought every spray bottle that McMaster-Carr sells" -- sounds like the intro to a Project Farm video.
Very impressive!
"...is what I would normally say, except I did the smart thing, and I bought this tractor as-is...". Definitely made me laugh. We here in our comfy chairs appreciate your willingness to take on the challenge for our viewing pleasure, Wes. Truly, we do.
Couldn't agree more with that statement!.
Ever wonder which came first.. VGG saying he "did the RIGHT thing, and bought.." or if he took the inspiration from Wes
I love your sarcastic humor. "Right next to the clean 5 gallon buckets and the full grease guns" gave me a real lol.
what you guys dont have that stuff , oh this isn't Jay Leno,s garage lol
I've got a W9 McCormick Deering tractor in much the same condition. It was my grandfather's and I recently was able to get it from the last owner. He just gave it to me because it had sat outside and is stuck solid. It's another case of "it doesn't make financial sense, but it should be fun...". But, it was grandpa's, and I have happy memories of it and him.
"Next to the empty 5 gallon buckets and full grease guns..." And right next to the pile of 10mm sockets! 🤣
For me it’s torx bits that don’t break, though my dad has a habit of not putting the 10mm wrench back, it seems no other tool stays out of the box more, but he likes to not put everything back when out helping our friend or at the scrap yard, he looses tools a lot, his way of justifying it is that it’s his set and it’s his problem if he looses tools, issue is he blames me if anything goes missing even if it’s been months since I used anything, so I take care of it like my own just to make sure things don’t get lost
@@aterack833 I'd have dad put a deposit down to borrow my Tools... lol...
@@aterack833 "loses" - only one "o"
@@costarica6536 my phone won’t ever let me type what I want to, and it seems like it makes things worse whenever I correct it, but thanks, I may have just missed that one
He he liked the false ending. Merry Christmas to you and all, Wes!
That was so interesting to watch that come apart Wes. Your money your time. It what it is. Gonna look fwd to how it turns out. Merry Christmas to you and yours🎄🇺🇸. Like your sense of humor.
I appreciate you grouping me in with mustie1 rather than the Pakistani truck channel(but only because I don’t wear sandals) 😂👍🏼👍🏼 great video as always bud, try rubbing some dirt on it, engines seem to like it when I do that 🤷🏼♂️
LOL. I'll have to use snow until the ground melts!
@@WatchWesWork haha Merry Christmas to you guys!!
Matt you know you secretly watch Pakistani channel.
@@seansysig oh no secrets there, I think that guy is amazing lol
Hey Matt let Wes hang the tractor off of the bobcat to break the engine free.
"I just kinda like 'em and I wanna fix it" Boy, if there was ever a reason for every derelict thing I've ever restored that's it.
Yep. Except my "actually fixed it" count is lagging way behind the "wanna fix it" pile.
I retired 3 years ago as a diesel mechanic and i don't want to fix anything dirty and greasy any more.
Words to live by: "It wont make any sense financially but it might be fun"
@@logicthought25 that describes everything I own😂
Came back from getting my coffee and I had already clicked "Like" without thinking or watching.
Well, to be fair Wes, Mustie1 would probably have 3 spare engines in the stash, that he got for free from the side of the road.
"Don't be gentle", sounds like a job for Hufflepuff Towing Service!
a pissed off rav4 and a lead foot lol
Hufflepuff Towing and Recovery Service
"ultra speedy service" and "we'll have you back at the shop in no time"
Cruel. Lol.
Wes here is a thought for content. Jerk that loader off of there and either sell it or scrap it. Now here is the part where you forge a new UA-cam frontier. Create a new attachment for the 770, maybe a jib crane or a forklift attachment. Next reach out to the Oliver community, see if you track down some of the original engineers from Charles City. Create a documentary that allows the world to see how the design concept functioned back then. Let us see the pieces, assemblies and components materialize on a drafting table with a slide rule.
Next take us all on the journey of fabrication, welding, and assembly. And to put a nice a bow on the whole project lets us see how all the drawings for parts, service, and maintenance are joined to create the necessary factory literature.
The reason that people so enjoy the older equipment is that the artifacts have a connection to the human soul. These items began in someone's mind. The drawings were made by a human hand. Another human hand turned the lever on a Brown and Sharp screw machine. The sweat from a welder flowed into the flux from a large Lincoln Sub-Arc unit. There is a human connection in the old iron.
To my knowledge no one on UA-cam has attempted the proposed endeavor. You could be the pioneer Wes. I would watch Wes, and so would a great many others. I have watched enough folks drown poor old engines with either and ignorance.
I would volunteer to do some machine work, lay a bead, or pull some wrenches.
Wes, the Mustie1 grouping is well deserved and that Diesel Creek stated it; doubly deserved. I nearly regretted watching this video when you said the owner did not want to continue..... I was about to close, when you said ....... Well done Sir, well done. Your videos are great entertainment and educational at the same time.
Nothing like oil pan diarrhea. I love it, “It was just running a few years ago”. I hear that all the time when someone brings me an old motorcycle
You know when they say that it was 15 20 years ago and not taken care of
"Donuts in the parking lot" woohoo. Man I sure would get the loader off that thing over the scrap pile. Great video Wes should be an interesting project.
Hey Wes, thanks for all the videos over 2020, you helped a lot of us get through a bugger of a year. Enjoy your approach to trouble shooting so many issues, found it very informative. Some folks might complain about you "talking", well silent movies got much better when the characters talked (just saying). It also gives us an insight into what you may be thinking. So, yeah keep talking, beside that you have an excuse your talking to us and not all alone in your shop...lol I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas from my house to yours and a Happy New Year into 2021 (Hopefully a better year for everyone). Cheers and keep up the good work!

@@ronaldheit196 Ah the joys of every broken bone, back surgeries and every effect of a misspent youth. and I am only 59...lol.
Hade a 770 on the farm. Industrial wide front end three point and an Oliver loader. No power steering! What a beast. Grandpa had this John Deere loader on his Series 60 Thanks for posting
Nice to see her fixed up! If you you nix the loader, replace the front tires, fix the hole in hood, maybe find an original power steering pump, repair the seat, do a repaint, and get everything working you have a better chance of getting your money out of it. Sell privately as a restored tractor with receipts for the overhaul and explaining what you did and you’ll get $5-$7k for it to the right person. Would be a great work, parade, or collector tractor for someone.
Often times people look at what a runner might bring online BUT there is little to no history. If someone can have confidence in the tractor and you, and what you’ve done that adds value and someone can feel better about spending money for a reliably repaired machine. Don’t sell yourself short!
My wife, the nurse, says that the skin gets thinner with age. This can result in easier brushing. I thoroughly enjoy your work and you are Avery competent mechanic.
Merry Christmas to you WES, Mrs. Wes, Kiddo and Pup !
Will be real nice to see that old girl brought back to life, these old tractors are our heritage & essentially got us to where we are now, so they should be preserved as part of our history,........... Merry Christmas & a Prosperous New Year to You & Family.. xxx
I,m preserving my '52 Case SC because I use it throughout the year. The old dog just keeps on going. Happy holidays to you too.
Thanks for saving the old thing. I have a 66 that cost me 3000 to get it going but it was a family tractor so who is counting. It was my wife's fathers tractor and she wanted to see it run again. Boy that impact gun is murder with headphones on. I watch Dirt Perfect. That whole crowd always seems to have a lot of fun whatever they do.
We've had Oliver diesels on dad and my farms since 1953, they start as fast as any when they're up to snuff, we never use the preheaters. My 1650 is tired, probably low compression and injection system worn, it starts a lot better with fast starter, I guess if I was going to spend to get it back to what it once was I would trade it on one that needed less. Your 1650 looks much better than mine does, looks like its worth saving. I m just an old Oliver lover dont mean to be a pest, enjoy your videos.
Thanks to you and a few other youtubers, I was able to do a revival of my own. You guys gave me the confidence to try and tackle a '78 F250 that had been sitting in the weather for 27 years. (It was even locked up.) This past Thanksgiving I was able to start it and drive it into my dads shop where it awaits the next stage of it's restoration. Thanks, Wes, for all you do. May you and Mrs. Wes and kiddo and Max have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Nice work! That's really awesome!
Nice job Moe!! Thank you for saving some old iron, and preserving a bit of history! If these old machines could talk, the stories they'd tell!
that sludge was epic in 50 years as a mechanic i have never seen one as bad as that. merry Christmas to you and your family.
That's the worst I have seen.
We’re they filling the radiator from a muddy creek?
I told my son if I was him I would have tried to buy it, then you said "thats where I normally would end the video" that was great. Good video on Christmas eve. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Wow. A whole video without computers and diagnostic tools. Excellent. Can't wait for future videos on this Oliver.
My grandpa had an oliver.
My uncle still has it.
My point being, that tractor reminds somebody of their grandpa and that guy will appreciate you saving this tractor.
I have a pretty good news for you Wes. You’re a terrible liar!!🤣🤣🤣 I sensed from the beginning that you had a surprise for that Oliver. Tank you for all the entertainment you provide us during those tuff times in 2020. Merry Christmas and a happy new year for you, your wife, kid and the dog. Greetings from Brazil.
Congrats on 100,000!
Man, I really need to get one of those vehcor shovels, too.
Thank you!!
@@WatchWesWork 101k already! yeah!!! what are you gonna do with your silver button? :)
Where are the Mustang videos 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Just kidding. Merry Christmas and happy new year for you and the afternoon crew. 🤣🤣
James saying to all
No need to make a "mustie1/diesel creek" style revival/rustoration, as you are quite a bit more refined in your methods I feel and take a bit more pride it doing it right-right ;)
Keep it up Wes!
I do agree, although I still like this as well.
@@pear7777 I do enjoy all three of them, just feel it would be out of character for Wes to do a DieselCreek fixemup ;)
Best to stay in my lane.
i found your channel after watching you and dirt perfect.I have binged on your channel now for 1 week ..coming as a union mechanic from Dominick's food.I have a lot to learn about wrenching.[in my next life] I am now a retired thermoking mechanic. you my friend are a gifted mechanic with great content..
Thanks for staying the course. I enjoy watching your video. Old tractors should never die. Scrap the loader. I grew up around tricycle type tractors. That is beautiful to me.
This was awesome. The Oliver, the bluff, the carnage, the commentary, everything. It was great. Thanks for making this cool video for us, looking forward to this series. 👍 Merry Christmas
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey, me too.!.! I really enjoy THE END, MERRY CHRISTMAS...
I got tired just watching you do all this work. Bless you Wes, and let’s all hope for a better 2021!
Fingers crossed!
I thoroughly enjoy watching Wes work! Smart, entertaining, and interesting. Merry Christmas to all.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Congrats on the 100k and awesome news on the camera. Appreciate the mention as well! Keep up the strong work man!
when you said that it cost too much to fix. I was automatically thinking lawn decoration. Glad to see you restoring her.
We know you're tackling this to make content for us and we appreciate it! Merry Christmas to you and the family!
Wishing you all a merry Christmas and thank you for stopping me going insane from across the pond in the uk ..
The bald eagle’s nest is back! Still one of my favorite lines.
Thanks for saving it Wes. Don’t give up on it just yet. One of your UA-cam 100K plus members may just be looking to add an Oliver 770 to his or her tractor collection. You may just be surprised..! Hope you and your family All had a wonderful Christmas too. God Bless.
My friend has a Oliver tractor went to Canada with him for a Oliver retreat it was terrific there was a lot of Oliver equipment there tractors and parts nice to see these machines running in perfect condition.
Wes, thanks for taking a loss on this project for the benefit of your many followers. We, and I have learned so much from your work.
Try to put the stuck parts on the press and walk away! Same trick ! Wish I could help you! Love this stuff! Merry Christmas!
23:57 "They had us in the first half, not gonna lie" lol. Looks like a great project! Looking forward to seeing it running again. That JD 45 loader sure looks odd on an Oliver.
I drove an old Oliver 70 over 60 years ago. That tractor was old then. The guy I worked for still lives on the farm in Montana where I worked. He's 91 now. I was 16. Great to see old Olivers in use and getting ready for more use. The 770 has almost double the PTO hp, but only .2 liter more displacement. Amazing that 3.5 liters today gets you 275+ hp (in cars). Looking forward to seeing more on the 770. You made mention of a few of my favorite UA-camrs! Musti1 is a never miss. Diesel Creek and the dirt guy are right up there too!
At times, I Watch Wes kind of Work.! When you tried to blow back the radiator drain on the Block my thought was pulled the cap and use a 3/16", or 1/4" drill by hand to auger it out. It worked when I was working on my old Triump TR4 motor 35years ago.
When you were taking the exhaust manifold off, armed with a hammer I thought you were preparing to smack a mouse which popped its head out.
Great video as always Wes
Congrats on the 100,000! Merry Christmas to you and yours.
@23:55 You really had me pouting Wes, but now I feel like Christmas has come early!
No bothersome music, great, just the sound of raw machinery
It may make no sense financially but keeping these on the road running is priceless.
Happy holidays to you and your family! Saving old tractors is always the best thing you can do for them
19:12 After you had taco bell and you just got home, relatable.
I swear I was just thinking about that
I didn't need that
You sure you ate it from the right place? I'm perfectly fine eating it.
i was expecting a comment like this when i saw that bit
😂😂😂😂
Great work as always. When you declared it an economic write off half way thru the video - I knew there was more. Way to stick with it and not give up !
Enjoy watching you restore and work on the old equipment. The worse shape the more I enjoy it. Like a previous comment I was waiting for wack a mole when you were taking the manifold off! Great video!
I love those old scoops on those tractors. A lot of people don't like them, but I see no problem with them. That's just how stuff used to work.
"I just want to fix it.." that made me grin. I want to watch you fix it. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Merry Christmas to you Wes, the beautiful wife and the pup...May all that needs to be tight be tight and all that needs to be loose be loose...
Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs. and kiddo and the pup! Thanks for taking the time to make these outstanding and unique videos.
Same to you!
I will admit that I felt really bumbed about how bad of shape the tractor was in but it gave me a warm feeling knowing that there are people out there like you that see the inner beauty of old machines. This has to be one of my favourite videos
In all these years, today is the first time I turned on the alerts for a UA-cam channel. Great content and great delivery!
A Blessed Christ center Christmas to Wes, Mrs. Wes & son from SW Minnesota !

I saw a post from the Bangladeshi Shipyard Dismantlers; having seen what came out of that sump and head they declined the offer of a free Oliver tractor.
Delighted for you with 100k, well deserved.
happy you bought that tractor looking forward to a nice series of repair videos
23:52. Wes, you rock!!! I can't wait to see these videos! Merry Christmas to you, your wife, and boy! And Max, too.
I love the new special effects Merry Christmas!! Money well spent, thanks for sharing.
Them's lasers as Letterman used to say.
Glad you like them!
You did the right thing there! Old Olivers (and other brands) like this deserves to be salvaged! You'll get that thing running i bet! I'll be cheering for you at least. Good luck!
I was really hoping for you to fix this tractor, and when you said that the owner didn't want it repaired i felt a little dissapointed. I guess those bald eagles must have whispered something important in your ears since you went ahead an bought it for yourself. Looking forward to see the tractor beeing brought back to life :D Have merry christmas and a happy new year. Congrats on all the new subscribers 👍🏼
Today 100,000 tomorrow 1 million! I’ve watched you since the beginning and you continue to entertain me. Thanks Wes!
Oliver had some very unusual designs, but the early models 66 77 were some of the best tractors ever made.
This is another outstanding episode! Love the mess and the struggle. A HUGE greasy thumbs up! Thanks for sharing.
Back in the 80’s I remember my father fixing up an old late 40’s allis chalmers tractor model C. I gotta say your video was awesome. I can’t wait to see more of the tractor project
The sudden fast-forward while you were trying to break it loose by yanking on it with your tractor made me laugh. It sounded like a machine gun!
18:54 reminds me of the night before a colonoscopy lol
I was dying laughing right there. It's when you know you've eaten something that was WRONG and you're holding it long enough to get to the bathroom.
I am so glad to see this comment,,, i just had one and yes
Letsdig18 is probably my favorite he's around them fella's alot, great channel, great guy!
I think the algorithm was “watch Wes work“, but in my mind you are a winner.
I actually cheered out loud when you said you were going to rebuild it. I really love your videos. Thanks.
Just watched your video on the Olive. In regards to the sludge in the water jacket. Many years ago I worked with a guy that was an owner operator and mechanic of heavy equipment, this is back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. He once told me that when ever he developed a coolant leak he would stop at a grocery store and by some black pepper, remove the radiator cap and poor in the black pepper and this would stop the leak. The sludge looked very much like black pepper.
You had me in the first half haha I sat wondering to myself what the rest of the video would be about if you’re not continuing on the tractor. Oh but you are
And merry Christmas to your family
I watch you and mustie1 and I wonder how I ever lived without a forklift.
“Bangladesh ship breaking mode” That was funny Wes. 🤣
By the way, damn nice of you to buy the tractor just to help the family and entertain us. Good man, and thanks.
The second I saw the open exhaust after you said it had been sitting for 10 years I knew this was gonna be a tough one. Good on you for working through it. Love the content!
Also: “DO NOT BE GENTLE” 😅
I truly enjoy watching your channel and how down to earth you sound when you show your humanity when you don't fix every project on the fist go. Secondly it is so inspiring how you fully explain your steps as you move through videos as if your entire viewer group is just standing behind you as you work. Great channel and please keep up all the great content.
Way to go, Wes! Like I told James Condon, it’s nice to see a young guy take the time and make the effort to bring something back to life that someone else would probably just scrap. Keep up the good work, young man, and stay safe during this pandemic😷
I was like " aww maaan.... " and then came the bluff lol. You had me going there for a second haha.
I like evil M profile picture haha. gen pu ms3 gang!
Yeah a little before the bluff part, I was thinking "is this going to be a 'fail' video?" I don't like those. It's kind of a let down. I looked to see that we were only 2/3 through the video so i knew he had to press on. He's doing it for posterity and out of a labor of love. And agreed - good youtube content. Liked, commented and subscribed.
You grabbed me at the Marvel Mystery Oil. I subscribed. Let the show begin. Happy new year.
"is what id normally say" i love this line but i dunno what comes after cause i was to excited to see things get fixed
Loved this video--it's my first WWW one! That's the most stuck engine I have ever seen. Some good/creative tips on how to free up a stuck engine. Looking forward to the next one already!
Whooooa THAT was a twist!! I was like, what? the video is still far from the end...
It sounds like this "corn crib" needs a new roof.
Ten years in there, but it was under a tree for ten years, so we pressure washed it, and brought it inside.
a simple empty green bean can would have saved $$$$$$$, time, and equipment.
10 minutes in I realized that I'd seen this one before. So now I've watched it twice. Excellent stuff. I live on a narrowboat, (2 metre wide barge), in the middle of England, and my engine, from a Fordson tractor, also has wet liners. I guess that was a tractor thing. Always thought it was a daft idea. All that keeps coolant out of the cylinders is a little seal top and bottom. Don't use the engine, so what the heck. I ain't going nowhere, as Bob Dylan once said. Or, as Townes Van Zandt said, 'You don't need no engine to go downhill, and that's the direction you're headed in, as he handed me the key'... Great video, Wes, many thanks.
Well done in taking this on Wes - quite the project but satisfying to bring it back. Sorry to hear about your neighbour, and I hope you and the family had a lovely Christmas day
