    After backing out the pickup tube bolt, tie a string around. That way it's easy to get if you drop it. Remove the string after you get it started again.

      Duaine, that gives me an idea. I wonder if you wrap that string the right direction around the bolt, you could pull it to spin the bolt back in when reassembling to avoid having to modify the pick up tube. I think I’ll give that a shot when I do mine.

    Why didn't you just shim the existing relief spring, or replace the spring (or both) in the original pump BEFORE swapping the entire pump ? Obviously the original pump may have seen some sag in the spring, allowing it to open prematurely, ESPECIALLY when cold under greater pressure, so a shim could have solved the problem much easier, or at worst, just a new spring. The gears looked mint, so I think an entire new pump assembly was a bit of a waste in both time and money. Remember, the filter area of the inside of the pan also has a relief valve, so this could have ended up being entirely pointless in the end. Just a thought.

      Paul Leksunkin unless you have a 4x4! Then it’s skid plate, remove half shaft, disconnect CV axles, remove front differential, drop steering then you can finally get to the oil pan!

    So I just done this. Used the washer and bolt trick. I did not replace the o ring. Now I have a low pressure warning on. Is it the o ring or is it the washer and bolt? When the engine is at 2000 rpm oil pressure is between 40 and 60lbs.

    • @mrcrown9657
      @mrcrown9657  5 років тому +1

      Robert Felp that sounds like a bad Oil Pressure Sensor, it’s behind engine close to fire wall, you’ll need a deep 24mm socket to remove and be able to reach way back there.

      or bad o-ring on that pickup tube....a HUGE, KNOWN issue on these things....
