    The S3 is an engineering masterpiece. Incredibly aero yet uses normal brakes. More aero infact than many frames that use awful specially designed custom brakes integrated into the frame. Also cheap.
    Whoever designed it deserves an award.

    I got the same on in 2021. It stacks up extremely well to bikes produced today. I like to buy top end models from previous era just to get a feel for what it was like without paying premium. Between s-works venge and BMC TMR - this one is my favorite.

    I have the same model, best handling road bike i've ever had, rigid but stable. One problem , it took me a while to get the height of the saddle just right for me and i'm afraid i stripped the screw on the post wedge. As of now it's tight at the right height but I ordered a new seat post wedge 3 months ago from a Cervelo dealer just in case ......today i had a call IT has arrived, IT better be the right one. Keep pedaling!!!

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider  8 років тому

      Really hope it's the right size mate! Definitely the best handling bike for sure. Just crashed mine yesterday though and snapped my rear mech, right shifter and cracked (almost clean through) my rear seat stay😢
      Thank god for insurance though. I'll be going right back to another S3 for sure

    love the cervelos, I have a S5, but not a fan of mavic wheels, i feel the hubs are a bit suspect, prefer the DTswiss hubs. i like Reynolds wheels, with their blue pads, stop as well as any ally rim. great review, cheers

    Hey Ronn, if you had to have one do it all bike, would you say S5 or S3 ? I am looking at the S5 but wonder if geo a tad too aggressive with a 13mm HT on the 54cm compared to the 148 on the S3 - reach is similar. Is the S5 'that much better' ?

      oh damn I'm sorry to hear Ronn but glad your ok to at least say what happened! just a quick question what size in cm is that frame and how tall are you? cause I'm looking to but it! I test rode a 54cm and it seemed a perfect fit cause I was convinced I was a 51cm size! anyways get well soon! best wishes

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider  8 років тому +1

      +Imran - World Cyclist thanks so much buddy. I'll be back on the bike in no time! And far as the size goes I'm on a 56cm frame and I'm 187cm's (6'1 ish). I went slightly smaller as I do technically fit a 58 which is what my R3 was but I wanted to get a little more aggressive of a fit as I'm a lot fitter and more flexible than I was when I bought the R3. Hope that helps!👍🏾

    Great review. I had a question. I only have ever used Shimano so forgive me for asking this next question. You say that you use the right lever to shift the back down to the small cogs and the left to shift up. And then you push both in at the same time to shift the front derailleur. I was under the impression that SRAM double tap worked as right lever small click goes down in back and pushing through right gear goes up at the back. This is where they came up with the "double tab" monitor. Are you saying that the new etap works differently?

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider  7 років тому

      sjankis630 thanks for watching! You are completely correct in both circumstances, Etap does work differently than double tap (both exactly how you described in your question). Double Tap is absolutely brilliant but the simplicity of the Etap system is second to none. I've used both Shimano and Sram in the past and I would recommend to anyone to make jump across to Sram. Hope this answers your questions.

    Hi Ron Rider, I have just completed a build much like yours. I do have major problems with the chain skipping all sprockets when on the small chainring and pushing semi hard like 5-600watts at low cadance. No issues when on the big ring! My setup, Etap, Rotor 3D+ with Praxis rings. Did you experince anything similar?

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider  7 років тому

      Claus Madsen wow, that's sound f**ked up! I can honestly say I've never had that happen to me or heard of it happening to others. Even after crashing this bike the Etap is still working beautifully. I used to have a problem with my front mec over shifting when I'd go from the small to big ring and coming off but that doesn't seem to happen as much since playing around with the limiter screw.
      One other thing I was told is that because my chainrings and cranks are made for 10 speed they might not work as smoothly as 11 speed rings.

    • @clausmadsen1953
      @clausmadsen1953 7 років тому

      Thanks for your reply. I will try to play with the spacing of the crankset and maybe try some other chainrings. To me looks it looks like the chainline is of. When back pedaling in the 3rd smallest sprocket, the chain clips on the upper sprocket.

    Hi - Good video Ronn. See you have the S5 now - bit too hard core for me. Looking at the S3 Disc - any opinions on this ?
    Andy

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider  7 років тому

      Andrew Dunn hi Andy, It’s funny you say that, definitely know what you mean. I love my S5 but it is really quite rigid and is a race bike. I did crash and repair/rebuild this S3 and that’s what made me realise how stiff the S5 is so now I ride both (spoiled). I was looking at the S3 disc also and although it is a race bike it will be a little less rigid and more comfortable so great choice. Go for it!👍🏾

  • @ChristophV.82
    @ChristophV.82 7 років тому

    Hey Ronn good review, can you please tell me which size the tires are? i heard complainings about using biger tires than 23 mm (tire clearance issues). this would be a complete downfall for me to buy such a bike, as i like my wheels in 25 mm. could you comment on this issue?

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider  7 років тому +1

      suburb music the bike is more than fine with 25mm. I have another set of rims I use with this bike and my 2017 S5 and they are wide series with 25mm tires and they fit perfectly. So long story short your 25mm will fit this frame. I couldn't recommend this bike (frame) more...it's amazing!👌🏾👍🏾

    • @ChristophV.82
      @ChristophV.82 7 років тому

      Thank you Ronn, just want to purchase the s3 disc in white with the lower equiped wheels (hed) heard rumours 25 mm tires won`t fit on these wheels (tire clearance) really a shame as i don`t want to buy new wheels. Could you maybe write some words regarding the comfort of the bike as i want to ride long distances. Thank you very much

  • @Keflynn63

    Ronn how do you like those wheels? If you spin the crank how long does the rear wheel spin for?

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider  8 років тому

      Kerry Flynn I really like them! They're really stiff and brake well (being aluminium and Exalith) and roll true. If I was to give the crank a couple of pedals and let it spin it would go on for...well longer than I could wait! Hope that helps and thanks for watching🙏🏾👍🏾
