What a great interview. I have always felt that Leonard Nimoy was the glue that held the cast together, but like how Spock was the glue that held the bridge crew together. This only confirms it.
Robin's delivery of the line "David is dead" is one of the most devastating moments in all of Star Trek. There was so much emotion behind her "emotionless" delivery.
Right?! It was spot on delivery! Robin questioned herself and yet that one line was probably her #1 line of all time because of how well she said it. She had that perfect mix of vulcan, emotionless tone mixed with just the tiniest bit of regret knowing how the news was going to affect Kirk.
This is unbelievable! Does anyone not understand just how insanely incredible this is? This is a miracle! So happy to be a lifelong Star Trek fan! When Robin emotionally shares that Saavik had a good life it just broke me… Live Long and Proper Saavik!
We love you Robin! I actually yelped out loud in surprised delight when you appeared in the video. Thank you so much for participating in “Unification”!
Robin Curtis seems like one beautiful person. Her enthusiasm shines out of her face like a sun! I'm so glad she was able to participate in this and bring closure to Saavik.
I met Robin Curtis this past weekend in Ticonderoga. And while I was not in the audience for the premiere of this wonderful tribute film, I am very happy that she got to be Saavik again!!!
These interviews brought so many meanings for the cast. This long project has shown us all how we deal with loss and of those we miss. Really sorry for Robins loss of her father
This is so touching and so BEAUTIFUL!! I am SO VERY HAPPY that Robin was given this gift to portray Saavik yet again in such a remarkable way!! We love you, Robin!
Oh my gosh this brought tears to my eyes. Incredible, isn't it? How a character -- and idea -- can last so long and have such a powerful impact on us. I would love to see more Saavik (as portrayed by Robin Curtis) and see what she went on to do. Perhaps Spock's life of adventure inspired her to do something? What a wonderful way to bring everyone back in one form or another. I couldn't be happier watching this and seeing how happy Robin is
Thank you for this; and many thanks to Robin Curtis for sharing her thoughts and memories. I imagine that Leonard Nimoy told her that the role would follow her for the rest of her life, as it had for him. Live long and prosper. 🖖
She loves her character and what it did for her own life, as well as others. It's a blessing that she is still with us and participating in something that happened 40 years ago. Thank you, Robin.

What a treasure, to have had Leonard, the master of the character, to guide you. As an actor, I have noted that many directors do not know what they want, so to have him know, and communicate that to you, was like gold in your hand. I am so glad for you. I recall hearing your line, "David......is dead," and thinking to myself, "Yes...she nailed it." You are one of the few who can say that they own a character in the Star Trek universe. Kudos.

It’s amazing how these films were such a part of my life growing up in the late 70’s and 80’s. In a way it don’t seem that long ago and when I see the players now vs then I am reminded how much time has passed and in my heart I immediately have that excitement and feeling of being young and watching these films back then. So much has changed since then and it’s nice to know we have these films to bring us back to those wonderful carefree days…
As children we mistake the player for the part then come to realize the difference -so appreciate the gift as given. Whether the mirror of ourselves or the conscience of kings, a point of view added to our own, a shared experience crafted not only by the seen but many unseen. It’s only by bearing witness that both performer and audience can truly appreciate what abides between us, even long after us. Thank you for this.

She has a very lovely singing voice, also. I was able to hear it at a convention some years ago, and to this day when I hear Karen Carpenter sing, I think of Robin.
Robin Curtis is wonderful. She is very talented, very underrated, wonderful as Lt. Saavik. The producers should have brought Robin Curtis back to play Saavik in the series and movies, even just for cameos.
There is no franchise like Trek. Nowhere else has had the stars also direct and write the movies like Nimoy and Shatner like in parts III, IV, V. There was a familial respect for the storytelling, and for the actors who helped shape their characters and this series.
My dad introduced me to the first episode play Star Trek I have fond memories but myself and the family sitting in front of our black and white TV at the time watching the great show
One thing that always stuck with me was when hosting a Sci-Fi channel run of the Star Trek movies, Leonard Nimoy mentioned that there was supposed to be a relationship between Saavik and David Marcus but that it never made it to filming. (I don't remember if it was to be explored in ST2 or ST3). I always thought it would be more interesting to explore the possibility of a child between them which was why Saavik resigned her commission and remained on Vulcan with Amanda Sarek who would be a good help to Saavik in raising a half human child.
Beautiful performance. It would be wonderful to see her return, in an official capacity, to play Saavik in a TV show. Heck, even a Short Treks episode would be great!
Robin Curtis is amazing! Wow what a woman! I will always love Kristie as Saavik but Curtis did a great job replacing her! I wonder if Kristie were alive today if she somehow would also be involved in this project! Either way this is a wonderful piece and I am so happy to see Curtis revive a wonderful character! Curtis is part of the Star Trek family!
I just loved Robin Curtis's performance as Saavik. God love Kirstie Alley (R.I.P.), but there was so much about her as Saavik that bugged me. The tears at Spock's funeral, the human eyebrows, and the way she carried herself just betrayed the slightest bit of insecurity. She didn't feel like a Vulcan, even though she was a likeable character. Robin Curtis will always be my Saavik, and considering she didn't see Kirstie's performance beforehand, quite the portrayal that still captured the personality of Saavik established by Kirstie Alley
This single scene with Saavik played so beautifully by Robin Curtice has given the character such depth and poignancy to not just her character but to Star Trek lore as a whole 🖖
"Saavik had a good life." It's nice that Robin Curtis got some closure on a character she hadn't met in decades (although the actress herself had a guest role as a separate character in TNG).
Not unpopular at all. By the time I saw Wrath of Khan, I already knew Kirstie Alley from Cheers; so it was easier to watch this unknown (to me) actress step into the role for Search for Spock, and she was perfect. I've been wishing Ms. Curtis could have had a cameo in one of the canon series, like Picard or Lower Decks.
Back in 1984 when this movie came out i had a little bit of a crush on Robin Curtis but i was only 9 years old it's now been 40 years I'm now 49 and a life long Star Trek fan.
I love how Terry's Daystrom idea was used in the Unification short. Both Kirk and Genesis. Just brilliant. We need Legacy. We need more 7 and Crusher adventures.
Kirsty's Saavik was cool, but Robin's felt like a much more "real" character to me, with gravitas. She absolutely deserved a bigger role past "Search for Spock". She'd definitely earned a place among the regular crew. (Which is impressive given how little screen time she's been given over the course of the franchise.) What a true delight seeing her back in this special production. :)
So touching to see Robin playing Saavik again for this beautiful tribute.
Ok, I'm just going to ask the question...When did Curtis play Saavik again? I can't seem to find any info on it...

Robin Curtis had huge shoes to fill and she did it magnificently.

So touching and see seems to be such a kind person !
She honestly did the best she could taking on an established character so kudos to Robin. 👍
This is so moving. Just marvelous.
Thank you, Robin. 🖖🏻💚☮
She is amazing. This is amazing. You are all amazing for making this so!
Robin is the BEST! My sons and I met her recently at Trek to NJ. SO kind and personable! Just the best.
I don't care if it's an unpopular opinion, but: Robin Curtis is MY Saavik
Not unpopular at all. By the time I saw Wrath of Khan, I already knew Kirstie Alley from Cheers; so it was easier to watch this unknown (to me) actress step into the role for Search for Spock, and she was perfect. I've been wishing Ms. Curtis could have had a cameo in one of the canon series, like Picard or Lower Decks.
Back in 1984 when this movie came out i had a little bit of a crush on Robin Curtis but i was only 9 years old it's now been 40 years I'm now 49 and a life long Star Trek fan.
We need to get Saavik and her son in Star Trek: Legacy to make it official.
Awesome interview! Brough a tear to my eye. Thank you!
