I really love this grip. It feels great and makes Remote Play so much more comfortable to do. Really love it. Also, it’s perfect for playing PS1 games on the vita since it gives you an ideal solution for L2/R2. I played MGS on the VIta with this grip and it worked perfectly.
Henkaku 3.68 w/ TouchRemap tai-plugin and this vita grip for PS4 Remote Play is a real pleasure. gives you fully functioning PS4 controller mapping. Old video, so you're probably aware, but even now in 2019, it's still my fav grip, as I've been looking around for another as of late, and most still have terrible build quality.
They shuld make a ps vita 2 with that grip included in the handheld design. 120 hz + 720p oled screen without touchscreen + 10.000 mAh battery. Would be the perfect handheld !
AS soon as I bought my Switch and Vita I slapped temporal glass screen protectors onto it. My 3ds/new 3ds didn't get the same treatment, but it's a clamshell.
This is pretty much only used for games that are NOT implemented for remote play (L2/R2 being on the upper touch pad; L3/R3 being on the lower touch pad)
Thanks for the video. So let's sum up. If a game supports REAR TOUCH then you can use this Hori device (I've bought it too). If it doesn't support the REAR TOUCH, then it is pretty much useless. Two questions: 1. Is there a list of the games that (remotely) supports the rear touch? 2. Can't you map the PS Vita (I know you can chance in the OS the button mapping) buttons in order to force that L1 for example becomes the rear L3? I think it is not possible.
I'm not the most versed in terms of Vita and remote playing games (I just like some niche games) so I unfortunately don't have a list or a URL for the list of games that support back touch. As for 2.) Last I checked remote play stopped supporting the button remaps and I can't test all the games on vita to see if they all have good back touch or remap support. I know, vague. But that's the Vita world in a nutshell haha.
Thanks for your answer. As you I've bought the same Hori item from Playasia and as soon as I received that I've noticed that downside. I will check a few titles but the quick test I did (Dark Souls III, Rocket League, ...) gave me a bad response.
So if the game uses dualshock 4s touchpad, can ypu register the rest of the buttons amd the touchpad to the front while using the backfor the triggers? Seems like a useless gadget at that point
I just bought one. It just works well with FF14. And I agree that it just feels great on the grip despite lacking a rubbery surface. Not sure if it's because of the bigger width that it feels more comfortable holding this than, let's say, PS3's controller.
With the case on I just stuff it in my bag with everything else. My bag has a little padding so it should be fine and I don't mind it bumping around in there if its loose, especially with the grip providing some extra protection. Of course, it will also depend on how much you move with your bag. I just usually walk around and commute. If you bike or run you should definitely put it in a case.
Got it. I usually carry a laptop with me on the commute, hopefully nothing gets squished with this in the bag. Same sentiments for game-dictated Remote Play controls -- this grip is so nice, but what can you do if Gravity Rush Remastered dictates L2/R2 to be on the front touchpad? Hahaha
need advise please. some games run fine. but on some the controls for L2 R2 L3 and R3 are on the front of the device.. is there any way while using remote play to change the touchpad controls to work on the back touchpad instead of the front to be able to use the grip? any help would be appreciated.
@@TechInspected are there any hacks that might allow you to change the touch pads from the front to the back? or is it stuck? afraid to hack my new psvita but i got it mainly for remote play. games like ESO and Spiderman run flawless, but GoW, and all the from software games all make you use the front touchpad.
tried it on Rocket League and Final Fantasy XV and absolutely no response...any ideas? a lot of functions go to the front touch screen for both games...so no go?
It will work if the game follows the button config of the Hori Grip as I've shown on the video. So it will follow its own button config, and we just hope they're the same as the Grip.
It actually depends on the developer where they put their remote play buttons. Some games like ZOMBI like I showed here use the back touch panels exactly where the Hori Grip put the R2/L2/R3/L3 are.
The Technoclast I like it when developers put two of the buttons on the front touch screen, and two on the back, because it's the more ergonomic and *correct* way to do it for people that don't own a trigger grip *assist*.
Unfortunately they didn't make one for the 1000 series. And also this Hori grip is now extremely sought after by Vita users. Lowest prices I see are around US$ 150.
+LifeofMikey There is one for the 1000, but a different company makes them. +The Technoclast All you need now are analog stick accessories to make the controls smoother and you got yourself the perfect on-the-go setup.
According to a post I read the R2 and L2 buttons when you play Ni No Kuni 2 on remote play is on the front touchscreen and cannot be remapped to the back touch. Which sadly means this case won't help at all in playing Ni No Kuni 2 on Remote Play. You have to manually press the front screen for L2 R2 and combination with face buttons to use skills which is hard cause you'd only have 1 (or 2) thumbs... So sadly because of the Ni No Kuni 2 config for remote play which cannot be changed, this case won't help. I'm going to experiment a little to see if I can come up with a different way to have buttons for front touch though maybe check back in a week or two...
The Technoclast thank you for the response. I guess I’ll just stick with my ps4 for that game. Actually I never tried remote play with any game yet with the vita. Lol. Oh, by the way, have you tried the l2 r2 grip with persona 5 remote play?
Persona 5 works quite well on remote play and very good on this Hori grip. It uses the top and bottom back touch so the Hori Grip buttons are aligned perfect for L2 R2 L3 R3. You only need the touchscreen for touchpad simulation but anything else is mapped perfect.
The Technoclast that’s great. I might go ahead and get one of this grip case. I actually got the CTA grip its got a rubberized feel that I super like, but doesnt have R2 L2. I guess this Hori one is a must have for remote play. Thanks a lot! I subbed! ☺️
those that aren't implemented for remote play (look on the back of game cases or look at the info on the ps store) if you don't see remote play then the controls aren't implemented hence this product is useful for that (ie overwatch, persona 5, etc)
snoopyfix2 it won't change button configurations so you'll still need to use the front touch pad for some actions, the back for zoom, and the L1/R1 for aiming and shooting.
I'd tell you I use it as a hockey puck if that would trigger you more.

So if the game uses dualshock 4s touchpad, can ypu register the rest of the buttons amd the touchpad to the front while using the backfor the triggers? Seems like a useless gadget at that point
The DS touchpad will always likely be emulated on the Vita touchscreen.
I play Final Fantasy 14 and the correct mapping has been implemented so hopefully when I get this, I can use it for remote play properly.
Yeah its very nice when the controls are mapped right. Worth the money hehe

Which datablitz branch did you purchase the grip?
Mine was bought from DataBlitz Gateway Cubao po.
Finally got me one of these! But now it won't fit my case. What kind of case do you use to carry this + Vita around? Great video!

there is for shure some homebrew that changes the borderlands buttons

Would these buttons work when we play remote play, or will it just ignore it and go for it's own button guide?
