I thought he was gay (I was silly and dumb, i know 💀), but I realized he most likely did it to intimidate the new one or just out of stress because of environmental change due to the new cat being taken in.

More like he is jacked up on hormones being fueled by the smell of a female in heat and there for the taking.
It's like any animal they have urges and also a great sense of smell they can tell even from a distance when and where a female cat is during their heat cycle and they get excited.
Cats have needs and don't care much for the yes or no from their partner and will even hump siblings.
Fun fact female cats can have multiple babies with different fathers.
The guy needs to be careful because if the male cat had succeeded in connecting and the guy tried to separate them it would have done a lot of harm to the cats.

I was mostly referring the male cat and even if the female rejects the male cat will still try same with other animals they don't always listen. Doesn't matter if the female stands up for themselves the male like I said won't stop just because the female warns them.
I have seen and heard plenty of times where a male pet started humping a female pet and got snapped at but kept on trying anyway because of urges of course.

Yep if a female cat is not spayed you can expect the tom cats to come calling. The males will spray the outside of your house with pee as a calling card for the female cat that they are interested in and there whether she likes it or not they don't care they want to bump uglies.
Cats don't care if the other cat is their sibling they still will try and bump uglies. Please spay and neuter your cats!

Cat overpopulation is a serious issue and causes damage to the local wildlife bc they become an invasive species that hunts for sport. Plus clearly this cat is miserable and would've been happier to go to a family than to be harassed like this, she acts like a cat that'd been abandoned with how friendly and desperate she is for a human to help her. Normal strays don't do that, even if they're in that one tourist place known for having so many strays.
Cats and pigs have the same issue when it comes to domestic invasive animals, once they go back to the wild they make it everything's problem.
Cats don't get a choice on whether they want kids or not either so...and this is probably the one time you could say a cat is trying to beg not to have any- why wouldn't you spay her???
