I woke up to the horrible news about Turkey's earthquake. I was nervous all morning and hoping Korey and Mia weren't wrapped up in it. I'm relieved to see this upload. I hope all is alright, and with Mia's family too
Same here. So glad to see they are home, and safe. And definitely hoping Mia's family, extended family, and friends living there are safe as well. Saw the Today Show this morning and the earthquake in the intro, and it made me immediately think of them. 🥰
Feel like Korey and crew would have liked it more if they watched it how the book ended. More ambiguous but m knight assumed audiences wouldn’t like that. He assumes people are not as introspective as book readers and would be pissed at 1 hour 30 with a you interpret it ending. Lol
@@miwkins Yeah, not sure if i agree with the director but i get that an ambigous movie ending is different from a book. People watching movies kinda want that cathartic answer, since they dont or expectation is that many dont see as many movies as korey etc and for free. They want that payoff. Korey sees so many he's ok with something he has to think about or something experimental. I liked Knock at the Cabin because I feel M. Night is at his best when his budgets are low and the story is more straightforward. I also thought the entire cast was fantastic, if this film were miscast it would not have worked for me.
That was crazy watching that on Sunday then the earthquake hitting the next day!! 😮💨😮💨 unbelievable how many lives lost, prayers up for all of them 🙏🏽
What’s intriguing about this film is the fact that there’s no definitive Antagonist or Protagonist. It’s an overall shitty situation. But in terms of storytelling it was good. I just felt that they needed to expand a few scenes out
Yeah, even Redmond, for as intense as he gets (plus one more unpleasant thing we find out about him in his past) says he doesn’t hold it against the family for not wanting to pick a sacrifice. It’s clear even if he might be an asshole, he wouldn’t go so far as to want anyone present to die. And the other three invaders are about as nice as they can possibly be given the circumstances.
The whole cast did a fantastic job, especially Bautista. It was a good movie, very straightforward, but well made and enjoyable. I give it a high, very enjoyable matinee.
I had no problem with the news report. People live stream stuff all the time, especially disasters and strange things. And because news wants to pass the information to break news, they might not do the proper editing.

out of the 3 big wrestlers turned actors, Bautista has the best acting career clearly. Can he lead a mega blockbuster on his own on the marquee, probably not, but, that is not what he is focused on. Spectre, Dune, Glass Onion, Blade Runner, Army of the Dead, My Spy, Knock at the Cabin, Bushwick, its a complete variety of roles and he has worked with some of the more interesting directors. Rock did start out this way before he focused more on his brand.
The premise is sounding a lot like *CABIN* In The woods meets Funny Games. Honestly, I think a weird apocalpyse-cult motive might have improved Knock Knock (a little)

Doesn't matter if you dislike him as a director, you still have to be respectful and not say shit like "he shouldn't make movies". He has the right as much as anyone. In fact, he funds some of his own movies. He clearly loves doing it. Criticize his movies and him as a director, but don't call him a hack and hate him as a person. Unless he murders someone, he doesn't deserve that kind of hate.
M. Night doesn’t need to keep doing twists. I think one of his “trademark” strengths is intertwining religion/spiritual themes into his films that are thought provoking and chilling at the same time. See Signs, Unbreakable and this film.
Just saw it and I give it 7.5/10 apocalypses. Bautista has clearly been working on the craft and is easily the best athlete to transition over to movies at this point. The girl who played the daughter was excellent, Ron Weasley was good, the Detective from Luther season 3 was good, and the line cook was solid. I was not a fan of the actor playing the dad with dark hair, he was like a lesser Eric Bana. I didn’t like how predictable it was, I accurately called about 90% of what was going to happen based on the trailer. Watching it play out was still entertaining enough that I didn’t feel like I wasted my money seeing it in theaters. The opening scene made me super uncomfortable when it was just Bautista talking to the kid, it was bad enough that a giant random dude popped up but then he’s being hella friendly and warm, but eventually when you learn his vocation it makes sense. This is definitely the best movie Shamylan has made in a while.
The problem with the premise is it's not a true test of morality. Even if they survive, their lives will be awful. So, how about this instead - they get to live their complete lives and the Earth will be fine until the day the last one of them dies - and that will be the last day for humanity. Would they make the sacrifice under those conditions?
I didn't like the book, so I probably won't see this even with the changes, but I'm surprised with Bautista. He was always so boring to me as a wrestler, but he's getting very interesting as an actor.
Dave Bautista is such a good actor, unlike Dwayne Johnson (and I like Dwayne Johnson) he's actually taking different roles that expands his acting chops. He's got to be the only former wrestler to actually stand out.
He has essentially become the go-to guy if you need a big dude who can delivered some gravitas. Dwayne at this point has become too much of a brand where even if he tried hard, audience can't see the character but him AND also his ego with him refusing to play true bad guys and a policy of not getting his ass kicked on camera. Do not be surprised if he ends up delivering a Oscar worthy performance in the future. Dude has been showing some serious potential since that Blade Runner sequel. I hope directors and studios keep taking a chance on him with bold choices.
That god never gave them a choice. In the end, he just gave them a shitty ultimatum. Either kill a loved one or standby as the world turns into a raging inferno and everyone dies(you too shortly). No one outside the Joker would say no under those conditions.

There comes a point when a writer-director like MNS after a number of critical failures should realise that they don't need to literally write all of their movies! It's OK every now & again to simply direct a great script written by someone else! David Fincher has had an amazing career doing just that! Love that Bautista wants to be an actual actor that works with a number of interesting & challenging directors instead of being obsessed with being a relatively one-note Action Leading Man who can never lose a fight in his movies who may or may not have attempted to muscle in and take over a major movie studio :)

"@freakyfriesday Yep. They kill the girl in the novel."-@dreamlandnightmare Funny, I actually thought that would be the first choice in the movie because of the narrative structure. It wasn't until they showed the flash back of the little kid and that they raised her from a baby I realised that would be a tough choice. How the movie opened I assumed that they just got the kid and might not of been to attached to her. They didn't even know when she was missing. If Baptista's character Leonard had been a pedophile or an abductor of children she would have been taken and they'd be none the wiser, drinking beers over a barbecue. They seemed like shitty parents who just thought it would be cool to adopt a cute kid because of a trend Madonna and Angelina Jolie started. It makes sense that they killed the kid in the novel. Humanity is selfish and she wasn't their biological kid in the movie, I thought they would have at least discussed sacrificing the kid and been in conflict over it but after the flash backs I could see that the kid was like their own.-me

Cabin in the woods
Sequel
I thought "Split" was an AWESOME M. Night movie. Better than "The Visit"
Dave Bautista is the best
Lol the tree that killed
When the news report showed the airplanes falling out the sky and exploding on impact, I leaned over to my girlfriend and said, This is so dumb. No news stations would ever show this type of footage continuously like this???
The book is much better.
Bruh, yes they would. Do you know how many times I watched the towers fall in one day?
I haven’t enjoyed M.Night in a long time and I’m a Philly guy that truly wishes his movies were good because he’s from the area and always promotes it but I just haven’t enjoyed his work since Signs.
This is for the algorithm.
There's a short film called Treevenge. It's great.
"@freakyfriesday Yep. They kill the girl in the novel."-@dreamlandnightmare
Funny, I actually thought that would be the first choice in the movie because of the narrative structure. Humanity is selfish and she wasn't their biological kid in the movie, I thought they would have at least discussed sacrificing the kid and been in conflict over it but after the flash backs I could see that the kid was like their own.-me
I’m late but I seen most reviews like it and I’m more with Martin on this one
