    I can understand both of you mostly; my issue with understanding what you're saying is the echo/reverb in the room. There's nothing to prevent the sound of your voices reflecting off the walls. Other than that, this is really good info, thank you.

    LOL this video scared me away from teaching there! The "hands-on" parents and I'm calling my nanny to bring me my homework mentality would drive me crazy! Plus there is no tenure and they can fire you anytime. Thanks for the honesty!

      it definitely has it challenges but anyone asked me if they should go I will always say yes with my whole heart. I loved it there and the challenges of school were outweighed by the whole experience and the standard of living you have xx

    Teaching in the UK must be so chill...in America, there is sooooo much pressure on us to work past our hours even with a union, test scores and data are the priority, and the stress is immense. And we have unions!

      Lol I wouldn’t say chilled, we have so much paperwork to do it’s exhausting but yea when it comes to timing they legally can’t ask you to stay they can just give you enough work where you don’t have a choice lol

      Hey, they shouldn’t because you’re a citizen of UAE while earning and ‘paying’ tax there

      hey
      the salary really varies from school to school but id say try not to accept anything less than 10000AED a month. you'll get accommodation but will need to pay the bill that aren't that much a month.

    I have a question. I am planning to enroll in education for a bachelor degree but I'm not sure if I am going to continue my teaching in the future so can I take business for a bachelor and still teach in gulf countries and get a good payment? also, I do have a TEFL certificate

      sorry for the late reply. I think you can teach the subject your degree is in. I believe you could still teach Business with just the degree and no teaching qualification especially with the TEFL. Good luck

      @@1BrotherFromAnotherMother erm it really depends on the schools. some are more open to no experience but the schools might not be as good. Good schools will have higher standards

      @Ameka Cowan well KHDA (the govt) have to approve your visa and I've been told your degree needs to be in the area you're planning to teach. to be honest i would just apply to anything you like lol the worst that happens you don't get an interview because of requirements no harm in trying though. Also a lot of jobs say what they expect...i got both my jobs on tes.com

    Guys you said that your accommodation was provided for? I'm applying with the MoE and they are not providing accommodation, the salary is 21,000 AED per month. Is that normal?

      ExampleOfGoodManners it depends really, you can get a nice room in a flat share for are 6000 or less so factor that into it. Some schools might pay you lesS like 10000 and give you accommodation

      James Grey thanks so much for replying! The role is for a business studies teaching role. 6000 aed permonth is approx £1200, isn't that super expensive? Also after considering the package I just described would you say the MoEs packages are generally not as good as what you managed to obtain in your contract or are they about the same?

      Erm in my experience the students treated me the same as any male colleague. They are more comfortable speaking to adults than in the uk because they have moved around a lot but depends on the school you’re in

      i believe to to teach in the UAE you need to be qualified to teach. I have a PGCE. your visa gets approved by the govt so as i understand you need a qualification of some kind :)

      I can understand inspite of the accent, but i was curious if it affected your employment opportunities or what if any issues popped up in the classroom because of it. Would you say that there is any "standard" english spoken there or is it a nonstandard expectation since its such a cosmopolitan city?
