So true girl- especially the bits about being cold because of the AC and people being on a journey- just because they’re here now, doesn’t mean they’ll be here forever!
Discovered your video, very informative...my wife and I and our toddler are thinking of moving to Dubai...I'm a senior civil engineer and I've just started looking for work in the Dubai so I'll be following your videos to learn more about life over there, especially from a British national perspective.
I’d love to see a video of your experiences preparing to move and your thoughts as a teacher. I applied to 3 jobs and was offered all 3 positions! I’m figuring out how to get my documents attested and haven’t seen much information about the options or best ways to go about this. Your insight would be really useful!
I have actually left Dubai now! However, I used a company called Vital Certificates to get my documents Attested. It was very pricey but a super quick process. Hope that helps ☺️
@@Sapphmartinique I’m sorry to hear you’re no longer in Dubai. I’m also intrigued if there were any reasons for you leaving. Thank you so much for your recommendation!
The working environment was not for me…it’s very different to being in the UK and I didn’t enjoy it as much also it was super expensive and after weighing up the pros and cons the UK seemed like a better option! But it’s definitely worth the experience you learn so much and I’m glad I went 👌🏽
Hi 👋🏾 Thank you for your informative video. May I ask, did you apply for teaching positions via an agency or direct to the schools? If so, do you mind sharing. I’m a British law graduate wanting to teach in the UAE.
Hi, I applied directly to the schools. You have to have a teaching qualification to teach in the UAE. I’m also a Law Graduate but I have my PGCE in Secondary English too 😊
I would say know what you want from a school and ask the right questions to get the answers. For example, if you want a school that values the wellbeing of teachers, ask what they have in place to support teachers. Create a list of your ideal school and ask questions that will help you to get those answers. Also listen to your gut ☺️
Let's say I'm am already teaching in South Africa, what the process when I am interested in coming to Dubai, I apply go through interviews after passing I resign in SA or how is the process. Not sure if my question is clear but can you try to explain if you understand.
As I did not come from SA I am unsure of what the process would be there. I came from the UK so after I was confirmed in the position my documents were verified and my visa completed by my employer , a flight booked and I came over to Dubai 😊
Thanks for making this video! I live in Canada myself and am currently considering a move to Dubai. Which job boards/websites would you say are the best ones to look into? And if a job offer comes through, is there an opportunity to negotiate the salary/benefits package, as well as a possible living allowance (or help you to secure a temporary residence while you find an apartment)?
It all depends on the job you are applying for as some jobs will allow you to negotiate but some have set rules. If you have never lived in Dubai then you should receive guidance on how to find a property. You can find jobs on places liked LinkedIn and Indeed ☺️
@@Sapphmartinique Thankyou so much! Another question, are there any schools which offer both primary and secondary education, so the children stay all the way from primary years to “year 11” ? Or are they still separate just like the UK. I’m curious as my fiancé and I want to move over to Dubai, I’m a secondary PE teacher and she’s a primary school teacher
Most calls are all through schools so they are from Nursery up until 6th form! Usually if you have a partner who is also a teacher they can sometimes find a vacancy for them but that depends on the school ☺️
Hey! As the process was super easy for me…I wouldn’t say I have the knowledge on how to get a job in Dubai! I would say just keep on applying and don’t give up and something will come ☺️x
If that is solely the salary without the accommodation, yes it is a good salary. If the accommodation allowance is included in that…then no it would not be a good amount. However, this is all subjective and depends on what your needs are and the lifestyle you want to have😊
@@Sapphmartinique thank you! Yeah, this is the salary for a teacher with 5 years experience and then accommodation is additional…Can I ask if you are familiar with GEMS schools in Dubai and what your thoughts are - I have heard mixed reviews?

They need to switch off that damn AC 🤣🤣 and definitely…have to enjoy people in the moment but be comfy alone 💖

Do secondary schools have PE departments similar to the UK ?
Yep they do, if it’s a British curriculum school it’s exactly the same as the UK

Is £2600 a good monthly salary for an experienced teacher in Dubai?
If that is solely the salary without the accommodation, yes it is a good salary. If the accommodation allowance is included in that…then no it would not be a good amount. However, this is all subjective and depends on what your needs are and the lifestyle you want to have😊
