    I taught at the branch campus of a Canadian university in Qatar and they were some of the best four years of my life. MY nursing students were generally respectful, happy, and trustworthy. They came from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Oman, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, PALESTINE, Egypt, Sudan, and so on. My eyes were opened to the richness of the culture. Dubai is a bit easier to get around than Doha which is still developing its transportation system. You can easily drive to Oman, which is the most real country on the peninsula. I also travelled to Europe and Turkey. You will find probably that your colleagues also love travel. (I find the world is divided into travellers and non-travellers. The latter get bored with your travel stories).

    In some elementary schools the students can be somewhat undisciplined. It sounds like her students are wll-motivated, probably because parents pay for their children to be there, so it wont be a problem. I saved a lot of money, travelled a lot, bought cameras and guitars, and made good friends. Recommended to go to Dubai (or Abu Dhabi) for sure.

    having taught for four years in a Canadian univ. in Qatar, I agree with all she says. If you are single, it is better to be younger since it can take a lot of energy to get out to the various socializing groups there are. The driving is not nearly as bad as rumoured and you get up to speed fast with the driving. Qatar and Dubai are quite safe. You need to remember that you are in someone else's country of course, and while you're welcome to have your own opinions, but you're not there to change the country, except of course through education.

    • @aoifeclifford6348
      @aoifeclifford6348  5 років тому +4

      Gerard Fierro Hey Gerard, it really depends on your bachelor and how much experience you have. If you have a bachelor of education and no experience, the salary could be anything between 8-11,000 dirham per month and if you have 5 or more years it can be 14,000 dirham upwards but this hugely depends on the school. To convert it into €, I always divide by 4.2.
      Hope this helps ☺️

I'd love to go into teaching as well, I have masters degree in business but no teaching experience or qualification, however, I do have around 5-6 solid experience within my field Would it be worth taking a crash course with TEFL and applying for next year's application? Or is it unlikely my application would go far without an actual teaching qualification like a PGCE?

      ODISFUNKCHANELL Hey!! 😊😊 It wouldn’t be the easiest thing to get a job as you don’t have a degree in teaching as a new regulation came in last year whereby all teachers teaching in the UAE will need a teaching license. However I know someone who got a job in another Emirate (Not Dubai) who got a job as a teaching without a license so it looks like it’s not that strict yet. ☺️

    • @aoifeclifford6348
      @aoifeclifford6348  6 років тому +3

      Aman K. Hey, salaries range differently from school to school depending on your experience, educational background and whether you are a native or non native English speaker. ✨ It can literally range from 8 - 16k , that is my knowledge of it but again it really depends on the school and the person. Living in Dubai is expensive, especially if you go out a lot to brunches and eating , that is what the bulk of money can go to. But if you carpool to school and stay relatively low key during the weekends and budget your grocery shopping,, you could def save....I’m spending around 4,000-5,000 k a month with groceries, bill and going out a dinner 2 a week. Hope this helps!☺️

      @amank.7052 6 років тому

      @@aoifeclifford6348 Thank you for your reply. When you say 8-16k and 4-5k/month, are you referring to US Dollars or the local currency? Do you know the pros vs cons of working at a public school vs a private school in Dubai/UAE?

    • @aoifeclifford6348
      @aoifeclifford6348  6 років тому +2

      Aman K. Hey, I’m referring to Dirham the local currency. ☺️ I usually divide by 4 to get the rough equivalent in euros. It really depends on the school you go to regarding private and public schools. If you end up getting a job interview in a school, just email me on teachmevogue@yahoo.com and I might be able to give you a better lowdown to that specific school. ☺️

      jenifer arokiaraj Hi Jenifer!! It really depends, do you have experience in a classroom of teaching business? If you don’t, you probably won’t have a good chance at getting a job in teaching here as they require a teaching degree now and experience.

    I just got offered a job teaching Biology. Still on the fence if I should take it. With regards to tax free salary, aren't you subject to the income tax from your home country if you still have your citizenship? I live in the US by the way.

      blacknblue05 Hi!! Thanks so much for your message! To be honest, I’m not overly sure about that, I don’t pay any as I don’t have property or stock shares at home? But I found an article that may help you more, www.thenational.ae/business/money/are-you-liable-for-income-tax-while-living-in-the-uae-1.663575
      Hope this helps 😊

      Thanks for the info. It seems like your experience has been pretty good overall teaching in the UAE. I'm still a bit on the fence about taking the job; it would be a big change. Could you offer and suggestions with regards to message boards or other mediums to make some connections and ask questions from those who are teaching or going to be teaching over there? Again, thank you for your help. - Best
