My husband and I taught at the UAE University 25 years ago. We lived just north of the Jimi mall, so near where you are. We loved it there!! When we came, we were put up in the Hilton for week which gave us time to get situated. We were also lucky enough to have bought the furnishings of the teacher whose flat we moved into, so didn’t have much that we needed to go out and find. That was a great help, especially with three kids. We had such fun finding things like dishes at the souq. I really miss Al Ain.
Welcome to al ain. The best and safest place to be. 🤗👍. After spending a long time here and then going back to your home country, you would diffinatly want be wanting to go back to al ain. It will be your second home
I lived in Al Ain in 2012 and lived off Tuwam roundabout in a two story apartment complex. The bureaucracy was maddening, my students were the sweetest I have ever had, and the drivers were crazy as hell.
Hey! My family and I just moved to Al Ain. We’ve enjoyed learning about Al Ain from your videos in the build up to our arrival! My wife said in one of your videos you me mentioned you are a BHAFC fan and that you were heading out to watch a match. I’m a Seagulls fan as well! Is there a place in Al Ain that usually shows Brighton matches? Cheers!
@@davidwilliams814 hey David, thanks for the message! Welcome to Al Ain - there’s a few places that play the football - rugby club or golf club often show live sports.. if there are big matches you can also head to Moodz in Rotana (it’s a sports bar but does get Smokey so it’s not for everyone).. the golf club is probably your best bet and you can always ask for them to put it on for you!
Hi...I am new to your channel....nice home tour...may soon you get all things and appliances for your home....how long does it take to finalize the job offer....do the schools in Al Ain offer staff ward discounts...make a little video on life of a teacher in Al Ain...looking forward to relocation.
Looks like Al Jimi area, my dad lived in the area for last 15 years, now moved to Jahili park area. I would highly recommended the heritage village coffee shop for amazing fresh food and the best Lemon & Mint you will ever taste!
This depends on what your school offers as some offer these expenses too… I paid my phone bill for the year which cost me around 2000aed Electricity/water is around 300-500aed for the month (time of year depending and household depending) Car costs vary - hire cars likely cost minimum of 1700aed a month but if you’re buying you can get finance or pay in cash. Fuel is very cheap.. a full tank currently costs me 150AED.
Heyy I would appreciate some guidance if you can. I'm planning to sit the CELTA qualification so I qualify to teach in Saudi this year. I can either do the August course or September course. The September course works better for me but I am concerned that finishing in September might reduce my teaching job prospects in Saudi as the school year would've already started in August/September? Is this correct? Do you think finishing the course at the end of September will significantly negatively impact my chances of finding a job and that I should really do the August course?
Most jobs are listen around November time… so apply for any jobs in the summer is probably too late. There may well still be schools looking, but it’ll likely be too late
@@TheNomadicTeacher are you saying that regardless of finishing the course end of august or end of September is irrelevance, in your opinion, both would be too late to finish? most of the jobs I’m seeing is august start
@@jarrettetal.1680 the course doesn’t impact what I’m saying… applying in august is too late for most schools. That doesn’t mean you won’t get a last minute job if a positive has come available last minute, but typically all schools will have closed their hiring period.
Sir....Iam looking forward for a teaching job there in Abudhabi....Do schools provide free accomodation??or do they give importance for applicants who own husband's family visa?
Hie Alex. I hope you doing well in al ain. My question is how much gym fees cost der? And how much an average person expend on expenses every month in al ain?
Gyms vary in cost… I would say average for the year is 1500-2000 AED which is about £400 Expenses per month depends on your lifestyle… whether you have car finance etc. it’s costs about 400dh for wifi, 300-500dh for electric..
How much did the school give you to furnish your apartment? Like for a bed, sofa, washing machine, to etc must have cost a lot, so just curious as I’m thinking of teaching in Dubai, and I’d like to know all the ins and outs, I understand it differs for everyone but your personal experiences at least gives me some idea of what is possible :) thanks!!
@@TheNomadicTeacher Yeah. I was hoping to take an apartment and save some cash but if dogs are not allowed i will have to spend more the villa i think. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it.

My school provides my accommodation… so I don’t have a contact as such. My recommendation would be to stay in a hotel for your initial stay and look online.
Hey! I looked for my job on TES and teachingabroad. I didn’t work with an agency. If you look from November onwards, schools will start advertising for the following year.
I noticed that you are a little too discreet with information that is a little personal such as the exact name or address of your building and the amount of rent that you (or your school) pay. However, I will go ahead and ask my question anyway and if I get an answer fine; if not, that is also fine. I was interested in knowing which school you are teaching in since that apartment looks like a rather expensive apartment. I thought I had it good when I was given a studio/efficiency in a wonderful area of the city that I call "downtown". It was only a ten minute walk from Khalifa street. But, to be given such a nice ONE BEDROOM apartment near Jimi Mall is a different matter. Obviously the school where you are teaching is very generous with its teachers when it comes to providing them with free accommodation. So, I just wanted to know which school this is. I have no intention of applying to any schools in Al Ain and my question about the identity of your school is simple curiosity. I taught at Al Dhafra Private Schools during the 2009-10 school year and I absolutely detested teaching secondary school. I LOVED Al Ain (my second favorite city in the WORLD!) and I loved the school, but I could not handle secondary school students and their lack of discipline. Therefore, Al Ain and secondary school teaching are both behind me. Hence, my question is due to simple curiosity. If you would like to answer me I would be very happy to hear from you; if you prefer to be discreet about it I will understand.
I will still keep my school private but I can say my apartment costs 30k dirham a year. I feel that’s a fairly average price in Al Ain..
