thanks for this Rohan. my only issue is with clearing up the noise quickly. same for hair. c4d's former standard renderer could render both cleanly and fast though not so photorealistic but the noise free render speed was enough. i am yet to try the unreal vdb workflow. i may have to export to unreal for volume renders
The denoiser can help but something like this with these many volume bounces is never going to be fast. Also, sidefx is aware that volume rendering speed is slow so they must be working on it. But i wouldn't expect miracles. Unreal is a good option. I've seen some nice cloud renders from unreal.
Very clear explanation, thank you!
is this only for Houdini 20.5 or will it work with 20.0?
It might work in 20. Just check the shader parameters.

try the denoiser filters on the karma node, works pretty well

could you make tutorial for the render settings like render elements, multi channel settings, cryptomatte etc with v-ray for houdini?
I don’t use VRay anymore
@@rohandalvi you switched to Karma? i would like to hear the reason you decided to use other render engine
My usage isn’t very heavy so karma is pretty suited for my needs. Also it’s in built so that helps.
