i have a theory i listened to this with and without headphones with headphones, kaveh's version overpowered alhaitham's without headphones, alhaitham's version overpowered kaveh's what if this represents their two different perspectives kaveh is suffering in his own little world trying to make every single detail of his architecture absolutely perfect and so that it won't fall (as quoted "so i won't have to see the writings on the wall"), taking a massive toll on his physical and mental health making him plunge into insanity alhaitham is trying to reach out to kaveh and trying to give him support but kaveh is starting to push everyone away for the sake of his architecture and art (e.g. Drawing, erasing, drawing, then blacking out) and eventually alhaitham forces kaveh to talk to him and try and get his now damaged mental state together

a nice thought when comparing the cover art is that both of them are missing the same piece, which obviously is to make the covers similar, but if you were to think about it in the sense that they're a pair, then you can think of it like how garnet puts it "soulmates are compliments, not your missing piece" meaning that the pieces they're missing aren't each other, but something they're actively searching for while having each other both together in missing that piece
on the contrary i always saw it as alhaitham with the missing piece, because kavehs character is mostly dark with one area in a darkened puzzle piece shape, showing how hes missing a piece. with alhaitham, hes mostly dark, but hes got one area with the puzzle piece . i thnk it can show how kaveh could get everything he wants, but would still be missing something ( alhaitham ) , whilst alhaitham might not have the ideal life like his grandmother wanted, but kaveh is enough for him, and he is fine with giving up his own pieces to share his own with kaveh. i love your explanation and think it also sounds so cool though too > < also how kaveh has only things to gain by living with alhaitham, whilst alhaitham definitely loses things ( like his precious peace and quiet lmao ), but kaveh is worth so much more than anything he could posisbly lose

They’re just a perfect fourth apart so the entire song is them singing parallel fourths which is MUSICALLY BAD (op you are a god for doing what needed to be done)
