- #154. Making Sinker Alcohol Ink! The Latest BREAKTHROUGH For RESIN ART?!!
Hi all,
All product links are further down 😊 ⬇️
Here's a video of how I experimented to create my own Sinker White Alcohol Ink, be sure to watch the whole vid as there have been some tweaks at the end for better results, I think this is the biggest breakthrough since Petri Art was first discovered, with cheap products, we can make our own inks which perform as good as any other. For many of us, it's much easier to stick with the products we are currently using, but this could be great as a backup or if the sinkers are not available in your location. If you would like a more in depth vid on the second method, let me know in the comments!
As mentioned, the balances will differ depending on a few factors, resin viscosity, alcohol %, pigment paste used and acetone. I do not recommend mixing any chemicals unless you know it is safe to do so, I have researched this for you all, the method I am showing is safe, but wear your PPE!

Disclaimer.....
I am fully aware of the risks of working with resin products and aim to give you great tutorials in a safe way. I film in a very ventilated area and keep risks to myself low. I would always recommend you to wear full PPE based on the data sheets for the chemicals you are using 😊😊😊.
Stay safe whilst creating beautiful art 🙏 #resinart #resin #epoxyart #epoxy #resinforbegginers #art #crafts #alcoholinks #petriart #sinkingalcoholinks #sinkerwhite #resinpetri #whitesinker #makesinkeralcoholink - Навчання та стиль
The full Recipe is in my latest video for the 2nd batch ua-cam.com/video/XH5LbSmLve0/v-deo.html
Is there a limit to the pigment/acetone ratio? It seems to me that the more pigment added the less "alcohol ink " needed to make the effect.
Do you mean water?!
Daniel, these were so cool. You’re such an unselfish artist. I love that you share your experiences with the rest of us, so we can all be successful.
Thanks Lauri, if I learn something new, everyone else will too 😊🥰
I love that he stares his ideas. That's why I watch him.
@darlenejohnson2662 thanks Darlene 😊 🙏
Yes, Daniel rocks 👍. Thank you for sharing with us 🙏. I'm having a great time trying your techniques ❤🎉🎉
All I would add is that your amusement at yourself is refreshing and your enthusiasm for the craft is inspiring. I learn something new from every video I watch. 😊
A tip is to not use wood spatulas, they often cause bubbles actually , we stopped using them atmwork totally as they create microbubbles as it is a natural material, plastic that dont breathe is way better
More genius-ness from the master himself. Thank you Daniel 🎉
Thank you 😊
You are awesome. I have tried a number of your experiments without the success you have. I will keep on trying. Thank you
“Agua” is Spanish for water. Not good for resin. Great hack. Lovely results. Fun experimenting with you.
Hi Daniel! No skipping. Watching advertisements. Saved. I’m ready!
Thank you so much Sue, it really helps my channel otherwise UA-cam does not push out our content 🥰🥰🥰x
I love your videos and your perseverance with your experiments, I want to try this, but I am working this weekend, so I will have to wait until next weekend I am hoping it will work with vista's white pigment.
ALWAYS watch through to the end, never skipping! 😊💕
You're the best! 😊😊😊
Okay Daniel I am gonna watch this til the end. No click bait allowed plzzzzzzzz! Will be back after to comment again. Drink is ready, bathroom break taken. Let’s Gooooooo!
Awesome job. You figured out the secret of alcohol with the acetone. All the pieces looked great. When I started with resin I was doing pours creating painting. I actually would flick water drops onto some of my pieces at the end for a certain added texture. As long as you don’t stir the water into the resin meaning mixing them up and, it’s not a lot of water the resin will cure fine. And the water will evaporate and leave those craters because the water is heavier than the resin. Sometimes I would wait until the resin was pretty thick and do this also for different effects. Resin is always teaching new things. Of course silicone on resin is interesting too. Thank you for sharing. This was fun.
Thank you 😊 I haven't tried much with water yet but will soon 😊😊
Wow! Pure genius. 😊

Thanks Cindy 😊 🫂
What an eye opener. Would love an indepth tutorial. Absolutely love your work and experiments.
Thanks, already filming the follow up 😊
I never would have thought to use acetone in ink. Finally I might be able to get through all the acetone I’ve accumulated here. ❤ the effects. I’ll be making a lot of this. Thanks again for a mind blowing technique. ❤ it.
Thanks 😊 Yes, the acetone is definitely needed or a similar Ketone alongside the alcohol, as long as they marry without danger 😂
looks like cool little planets. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 😊
Daniel you are just terrific with all your experimenting. And then figuring out what the problem was with the aqua, you have such a scientific mind. Blow me away is what you are doing. Thank you so much. Awaiting your next video now!! Yes I am impatient!! lol
Thank you so much 😊 Have just started filming the update 😊😊😊
you are the man ill def be trying this kiddo out
😁😁😁😁
My guess is that the acetone is just breaking down whatever binder is used to hold the pigment particles together. Since it's a resin pigment and resin pigments are often pigment mixed with part A, this makes sense. See if you can find out what the raw pigment/s they used are, and if you can obtain them in their raw forms (probably a powder), and you can probably skip the need for acetone entierly! Might even be able to experiment using your own binders; maybe find one that helps it suspend in the alcohol better.
I don't know anything for sure. But the limited knowledge I have on pigments, chemistry and acetone... It does make sense.
100%, hairspray can also be used as a binder too 😁
I’m one of the people who can’t get sinker whites so I really appreciate your experimenting. It’s definitely going to get a game changer for me. Thank you.
So glad it will help Maxine 😊😊
You are genious Dan 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I have tried so many things to make my own white alcohol ink but never thought acetone would work 🙈 thats so genious 😍
Wow, thanks Damla 🥰 Hope all is well, still planning a come back?? 😉🥰
Cheers, Dan! xx 🎉
Thanks Fran 😊
Absolutely love this thank you so much for sharing this with you viewers game changer because I cant get the sinker white 🤗🤗🤗
You are so welcome! 😊
Wow stunning ❤well done 🎉
Thanks so much 😊
Hi, thanks for sharing. Just a FYI: I’m not sure if everyone knows that the alcohol count/% whether it’s 99, 91, or 70 is the amount of alcohol to the amount of water/aqua. So when you use alcohol as an additive, or dilution, or to deduct water from, you have to take an account that you are adding water also. If you were going to add water anyway, add to 70% first to save money and use less water. With resin we all know that water is the enemy, so your best option is 99 or a light misting of 91% because the water will do what it did for him, come to the surface. Never use 70% with any resin product, it will affect finished product ;) Beautiful Results
This is very important info, I have mentioned this in my update video, thank you 😊
Really beautiful
Thanks as always 😊
