I love imaging the thought process for the opening of this video. "Properly lighting cigars takes too long to make for an interesting shot... I'll just barely scorch it, most people won't tell the difference!" Incredible.
Aside from the narrative nitpicks (Flow of ending resulting from choices), a similar thing I have a problem with is the choppiness of some of the voiced line delivery. If you listen to the outsider or any other character speak, they have this rushed feeling, leaving no pauses between sentences. Even though the lines are well acted, it sounded like they were done by a team trying to finish up within a few minutes. This made the outsider, who I enjoyed listening to in his pondering, thoughtful speech, seem like more of an exposition machine to give Corvo backstory on targets as quickly as possible.
love the whisky and cigars reference. I'm glad to see another dishonored fan like myself. I've played the first dishonored 100+ times and im about to start my 2nd d2 run after beating it in 2 days. my favourite part was the teasing to dlc at the end. great video sir. we should gather for whisky and cigars sometime:)

Just found you out through the Doom and Dishonored videos and wow, we have the exact same doubts on what makes Dishonored so great, nice video and cheers from Brazil.
I totally loved Dishonored 2. And i gotta agree with you on your points. The game felt a bit short to me, and if i wasn't going after all runes and bonecharms i would have finished it for the half the time i did originally. And the final mission was indeed kinda underwhelming. I finished it pretty fast, was not detected once, and it just ended pretty quiet and easy, although i didn't manage to use correctly the corrupted rune and i had to kill her. I expected a bit more from the end and just a little longer gameplay maybe. I liked it that i couldn't find any codes online and i had to do everything on my own. Definitely improved the game for me, wasn't too hard. And i agree with a comment bellow would have been awesome to have different lines for Corvo and Emily.
I really enjoy your videos! You deserve ALOT more subscribers... I loved Dishonored 2 as much as you did, amazing game! Keep up the good work on your videos, and I hope to see more in the future!
Arkane used the same method in Prey's ending ("this person and then this person and then..." etc) for better or worse. I've put hundreds of hours into Dishonored 2 and Prey and while I love them both immensely, I'm just not sure why they've decided that this approach is the way to end such outstanding (imo) games.
Trust me the story that build up the character corvo is one the greatest story of gaming history without a doubt. I loved the game since i was in highschool. Still when i see the gameplay it gives me the same chilly feeling.love u corvo.
Loved this video as well. The effort is overwhelming. I subscribed, and liked, I really enjoy these Dishonored videos. Great videos and fantastic channel truly. It has actually been a while since I have discovered such a good channel. So chill, its like sitting down and having a chat with a friend. Wonderful.
Who's power set did you prefer? I found them more viable to specific chaos goals. High chaos was WAY more fun with Corvo, while Emily is a better fit for being a sneaky Pete.
Joseph & Kimberly Woodard can't really put one above the other, they are both fun to play. I will say that I was a bit let down by Emily's shadow form, as it pretty much only give you two stealth abilities, and no combat capabilities, plus would've been dope to have some special animation kills on the targets with the shadow form. But if I had to choose one, I'd say Corvo's powers, so much fun to play with the time ability
Haven't really used the swarm that much, don't really know how to use it in the entertaining spectrum of the gameplay department. Everytime I use it, it just feels so OP.
You seriously deserve so much more appreciate for the effort you put into this, awesome video man, unlike most reviews this actually has a humour to it and I actually found myself laughing at parts, I know how much time it can take to make these videos but I seriously can't wait to see what more you have to make, keep up the good work man!
Considering that you have literally "Literally" in your name; your comment truly makes me happy. UA-cam is a place where everyone makes their own content, yet try to compete and copy works of those above them, so when hearing that some enjoys the work of the creator, it truly means a lot. ...that was the serious part, THANKS FOR WATCHING!
Huh? I get how it sucks you can't see the chaos of your actions on the districts you have been through via going back to them but i think that them not wasting an entire level on the same area as you have already been to is much more beneficial. But if it's personal i guess i can't argue that
To me Dishonored 2 is to the first game what Bioshock Infinite was to Bioshock; an amazing game that gave me (and will continue to give me) hours of fun, but when compared to the original is not just as good.
That game was brilliant, dropped a few frames yeah, but it was nowhere near bad as some people speaked of it. Dishonored 1 was probably my favourite game in all existence just because of the gameplay aspects and the story revolving all around you and what you do instead of preset lines. Also, I respect the guys who could keep themselves from going on a killing spree on their first run of the game. After all that betrayal and plotting against you. I made sure I killed every hostile on every level, on both games.
Okay, first things first, I don't have a powerful rig and when I say, it falls in mid-low range... I have an AMD Radeon R5 M330 (which actually doesn't even meet the minimum requirements) and I can play Dishonored 2 without any kind of issues... I was also worried that I might never be able to play the game but the game is completely patched and I didn't witness any kind of glitch or even the dreaded frame drops.... And, with the addition of New Game + and other updates, I think Arkane Studios have pretty much surpassed its predecessor.... Yes, story-wise, I think Dishonored 1 was better but frankly, I think in games like Dishonored, gameplay is the most important aspect... And, personally, I feel that Dishonored 2 just refined and perfected the gameplay experience... The AI is more challenging and I think, D2 is a game where it's up to you to discover the story... There is a main story which is on the surface and there are all these stories that you discover reading notes, listening to audiographs or inspecting various objects, like paintings are so well done and really helps in building the lore of the world... Frankly, I am so thrilled to play again as Corvo and the sub plot of the Heart which we now know contains a fragment of Jessamine's soul.... My eyes were literally wet with tears when I watched the farewell scene between Corvo and Jessamine (especially in Low Chaos).... I think, it was the most powerful scene in the whole game.... The main story belongs to Emily but the environmental stories and other sub plots like the one mentioned above, definitely belongs to Corvo. I enjoy playing with both the characters but I preferred playing as Corvo, either due to sentimental reasons or just because I felt he was the character that I could connect with more.... My first playthrough took me nearly 80 hours to complete because I was literally spending at least 8-12 hours on every mission trying to find every single collectible (runes, bonecharms, paintings or blueprints), along with reading every note, book or listening to audiographs and conversations of other people, or even the Heart.... But, once you familiarize with the level and mission designs, it is actually possible to finish a mission in about 20-40 minutes.... In fact, in my brutal speedrun where I only focused on completing the main objectives, it just took me about 6-8 hours to finish the game... Addition of more non-lethal items and powers which can either be used for both violence and stealth have just enhanced the gameplay experience.. I loved the protagonists (even though, I loved the silent Corvo) are now voiced... Sometimes, they really make some moments special... For example, there is one really beautiful short scene in the Royal Conservatory mission (with Corvo), where he talks how Jessamine didn't like her hair styled as a bun but preferred to let her hair free.... Or, a scene where a pair of Overseers are discussing about how the head of the Overseers lost all of his respect and was ruined for life when he was branded (speaking about low chaos assassination in the first mission of the original Dishonored) and after hearing it, I was literally stunned for a few short moments.... These scenes are so short and simple, but they just make the game even more memorable... And, the best part that people who are rushing through the game will miss it... So, those who spend time exploring it will definitely have a more rewarding experience.... Bonecharm Crafting is really wonderful addition and can make a hell lot of difference in your playstyle and experience, especially in later playthroughs (or even the first, if you know what you are doing)... They just add to the whole Dishonored philosophy of 'play as you desire'.... New Game +, No Powers mode, unique and amazing level designs, different approaches to tackling the same objective just provides the perfect platform for an infinite number of possibilities and open the door to countless number of playthroughs and a ton of replay value. Must have for any gamer.... With the issues on PC now fixed, this game should be part of every person's library...
It doesn't matter if it plays flawlessly now; when it was released, it was trash. Now it has been patched, and it is pretty perfect, but when you review a game, you have to take into consideration what state it is in when it is out the gates. And all of the stuff they have added later "should" have been in the game at release; the mission select was in D1 at the beginning! Why not here? Today it is a complete experience, but when I made this video, it felt unfinished. I myself said that Dishonored is about the gameplay mostly, but that does have its negative that some stuff, like the heart, takes a backseat when it could have been something truly special. I love this series, but in my eyes, they have become less and less fantastic with each game: D1: I love it with a passion D2: I like it alot, I consider it a good sequel. Could have been better, but still good. Death of the Outsider: F-ing hate it. Should this be a "must own"? Personally I think not, as this genre isn't for everyone, but for those who enjoy stealth with super abilities; then yes, absolutly.
King J. Grim I agree with how u like the 1st game and I agree with death of the outsider but for some reason I just don’t like the 2nd game, idk what it is about it it just doesn’t make me feel the way I did when I played the 1st game
King J. Grim Ah, I thought you were refering to the *spoiler alert if you haven't beat the game* Daud cameo at the end with the audiograph. I have to wonder how Corvo/Emily would react to it. I was a little disapointed that there was no player reaction there.
im really hoping for a daud dlc, or even a billie lurk escape dlc, possibly returning to some areas after corvo/emily have passed through. when meagan got her arm back after the player alters time in Stiltons Mansion, she would still assumedly have the outsiders mark that daud 'gave' to her. if the player didnt alter the timeline you might have to play as meagan foster with only a knife and no powers. would be cool, dont think they'll do it, but im hoping for dlc similar to knife of dunwall really
Dishonored is also one of my favorite games, but I can pinpoint very clearly why: First Artwork, Second: It is a game - you choose how much Story you want, how much you want to know about the npc etc. Modern Games have the problem that they have awesome stories - but are plain movies interrupted by 'gameplay'. Cutscene -fight/riddle - Cutscene - fight/riddle etc.
It would be sick if they made a third game, Where you have a squad of the outsiders people. The ones who have powers, And you have to stop another group of people with powers. And the whole world depends on it.
When you smoke a cigar you don't apply the flame directly to the cigar, that chars the cigar and gives a nasty flavor. What you do is you heat the air around the cigar about half an inch away and you turn the cigar so you don't just heat one part of it.
+King J. Grim What was the side plot that was so fascinating for you ? I played through the game twice now and i noticed a ton of easter eggs and shit, but i cant pinpoint what you were meaning with that subplot. But great review anyway. I hope they use some of the places in the dlcs also, so that this you dont see the change problem is a little bit better.
Sí, mi pequeño pollo! Though considering that Final Fantasy 15 is out tomorrow, I won't be able to make a "ITMo" before the review of that, but I'll get the review as quick as possible!
I liked the game but I will say the original had way better character, this one did have a spinoff feeling to it. if you ask me they should just skip the corvo/emily story and go into a completely different time period and characters for the next game.
I've been playing it again a lot recently. I've done a ghost no kill stealth run and 2 high chaos runs in the past 2 weeks. Now I'm doing a no powers merciful run. I love this game as much as the first except for one area, it doesn't feel as personal as the first game. I did play the dlc for the first game but i don't think delilah is as good of a villain is hiram and havelock. They weren't entirely good nor evil. They just pursued power, tried to do what they thought was right and they made big mistakes which ended up crossing you. In Dishonored 2 it's more like you're the chosen one going to save the world. Delilah is just objectively bad for the world. She takes power, her witches kill a shit load of people and they wipe out the overseers. The duke is infatuated with her to the point he overworks and kills his own citizens while not controlling the grand guard who abuse the citizens. He also leads serkonos into a losing war with the other kingdoms loyal to emily. It lacks that moral grey area with those 2. Also in the opening of 1 you see pretty much every target for the first act of the game except lady boyle, then the assassination happens and then you get locked up, tortured and imprisoned then they want to kill you. In the second game Delilah and the Duke show up, say they're taking over, freeze the character you didn't pick then lock you up, which you escape from immediatly. Honestly it just didn't give me much of a reason to hate them as much. At least i didn't feel as much hate towards them as i did to campbell and hiram and havelock. Sidenote why didn't Delilah just kill Emily and Corvo or lock them away somewhere that was actually secure instead of giving them to Ramsey? I also love the idea that if they closed the windows the game would've ended there 😂 One last thing the 4th missions are the fucking same, you go through 3 areas to get to a genius' house where they create new technology. Both introduce and new piece of tech into gameplay for the series (the arc pylon and the clockwork soldier) and both are the first missions in their games to use the arc pylon. In both missions you have to get to the office which is on the highest floor to deal with the genius. Both involve carrying an unconscious Sokolov back to your allies
Dishonored is one of my favourite games because it manages to make a Victorian setting that doesn't make me puke whilst shouting "STEAMPUNKS F*** OFF!"
I've been playing Dishonoured 2 non-stop the last couple weeks, and I just wish the Dreadful Wale had more people on it really. -SPOILERS- Hypatia and even Aramis Stilton would've been fun to interact with, get improved versions of the Addermire solution or some insight into the next mission. That and Delilah's role in the story felt a bit too.....mwahaha villain-y when she's got a pretty valid claim to the throne and your usual tragic backstory too. Would've been pretty interesting if she actually rules dunwall as a tyrant while you're away instead of sacking it? Maybe I'm just looking into it too much lol
Do you think Emily had to be less violent because she was the empress and if she took her crown back by force people might turn against her. Besides she knows what violence leads too or do you think she'd do anything to claw her way back to the top
but the real question is are the characters*corvo and emily in their own stories) in this game as good as dauds development through the low chaos route of dishonored 1? daud just left such a huge impression on me that after playing the dlcs that i loved him more than the blank self-insert slate corvo was in 1.
They do have their journey to become better people, definitivly Corvo, who has to make one of the toughest decisions ever in one of the later missions. Made my heart twist and turn
After watching 2 of your other videos and loving them, your intro here finally made me subscribe. That's some gold! Edit: Also, why do you use out-of-10 rating system for games? It's pretty arbitrary either way, so wouldn't it be better to adobt some other, more informative rating system or just focus on recommendation?
King J. Grim Depends on the rating system you prefer :P Speaking of which, I edited my comment just before you responded. Any comments on that rating-related stuff?
Wow man i recently found your channel, i really love it. I'm in love with dishonored and dishonored 2 and finished both 6 and 4 times respectively. I was wondering what side quest you kept referring to? The one that continued the first game?
I played the PC version 3 months after release, and I had little to no issues whatsoever, and if I had any, there were pretty insignificant. I agree with your view on the game, although I wish you would have dug deeper into the story with spoilers and whatnot. Still, fantastic review, keep up the good work!
Well, this is a review for those who have not played the game, so going through every spoiler, and every story moment would take away from the experience. But thanks for finding the video good!
You know what have been a better narrative is that Corvo and Emily were separated and that Corvo would stay in Dunwall eliminating Delilah's allies and Emily would go to Karnaka. I'm not saying I hate the game, it was FANTASTIC to play I just wish they had their own narratives to play through. Like two stories in one game. That would have been awesome.
I'm surprised they didn't go the "optional co-op" route.
+Sam Geuvenen that might have been hard because one might kill relentlessly or on accident and you end up getting a bad ending

The Bear From Mars The dust district I think the area was called. On the left side of the overseer's HQ.

You will definitivly see more soon!

Daud Death of the Outsider ruined your character
How did it, exactly?
Shall we gather for whiskey and cigars tonight?
Arkane used the same method in Prey's ending ("this person and then this person and then..." etc) for better or worse. I've put hundreds of hours into Dishonored 2 and Prey and while I love them both immensely, I'm just not sure why they've decided that this approach is the way to end such outstanding (imo) games.
Damn man, you're looking classy as F***!
As much as I hate to say it, with whiskey; anyone can be classy as F**k
Cheers to everyone being classy because of whiskey!
Trust me the story that build up the character corvo is one the greatest story of gaming history without a doubt. I loved the game since i was in highschool. Still when i see the gameplay it gives me the same chilly feeling.love u corvo.
Oh hey look, He's already Smoking Cigars and Drinking whiskey. But he's alone.
Loved this video as well. The effort is overwhelming. I subscribed, and liked, I really enjoy these Dishonored videos. Great videos and fantastic channel truly. It has actually been a while since I have discovered such a good channel. So chill, its like sitting down and having a chat with a friend. Wonderful.
bethesda: you don't need pre-review copies, you can trust us
3:50
Holy shit how did you get that animation? That's badass.
King J. Grim yup. The Rat Swarm is loads of fun as well.
But if it's personal i guess i can't argue that
could've used the same area but expanded it and added a new element and different location of target, like the Distillery District
The gameplay in the dishonored games is absolutely addicting
I love this series, but in my eyes, they have become less and less fantastic with each game:
D1: I love it with a passion
D2: I like it alot, I consider it a good sequel.
I guess he already gathered for whiskey and cigars.
i love ur videos man, why do you only have 8k subs, u desserve alot more
Because UA-cam care more about quantity over quality.
And my quality is dah shit
Oh dear, he's gathering people for whiskey and cigars!
It’s been 4 years and we still don’t have an fov option for console :(
Ah yes
Boot Messiah of Kicks and Falling
the lack of supporting casts make sense, since corvo and emily are super paranoid at this point.
You deserve a LOT more subscribers. Before looking at your Sub count I thought it was like 1 mil+ or something.
Will you do a review including spoilers? Having played the game multiple times I would like to see what you have to say about certain things.
This is my only review of Dishonored 2, but if it is the side plot you're wondering about, then the answer is the heart
King J. Grim Ah, I thought you were refering to the *spoiler alert if you haven't beat the game*
Daud cameo at the end with the audiograph. I have to wonder how Corvo/Emily would react to it. I was a little disapointed that there was no player reaction there.
M Cowher Have to agree with that. But I think Arkane doesn't want to make everything obvious about the characters. Keep stuff a bit mysterious
im really hoping for a daud dlc, or even a billie lurk escape dlc, possibly returning to some areas after corvo/emily have passed through. when meagan got her arm back after the player alters time in Stiltons Mansion, she would still assumedly have the outsiders mark that daud 'gave' to her. if the player didnt alter the timeline you might have to play as meagan foster with only a knife and no powers. would be cool, dont think they'll do it, but im hoping for dlc similar to knife of dunwall really
Bro your prediction came true
I see what you did their in the intro with the whiskey and cigars nice reference to dishonored 1.
i wonder why don't u have more subscribers. ur videos are so interesting and funny!
Martha won't you marry me, twelve weeks have I been at sea, dancing hagfish at the brine
But yeah the ending is kinda clusterfuu -
Will we gather for whiskeys and cigars TONIGHT?
for a second at the end of the vid i thought that the sky was all ominus burning red. It wasnt. i hope..
I just started watching your channel keep up the good vids!
Jackson engdahk you keep watching, I'll keep making!
King J. Grim Yes please!
you know you sound like kilian experience a lot.
just pointing out, makes your reviews sound more humorous
Searched him up, was not dissapointed. And therefore: Thank you!
huh,im happy you take it as a compliment.
Although dont rely on my comment much,im sick today and sligtly delirious
King J. Grim
I always thought he sounded more like 40k theories.
The Meme of DAMN YOU DAUD! never gets older
You dare call my despair a meme?!
Always while you make it funny but at the same time sad :( DAMN YOU DAUD! D: !! :(
Shall we gather for whisky and cigars tonight?
8:30 Damn you Daud?
DAME YOU DAUD! DAME YOU!!!!!!!
Dat intro do... classy as fu-
I would watch and re-watch a "in the mind of Daud" video. I beg.
12:06 I like that optimistic and reassuring finger wag idk why
Charisma 🔥
It would be sick if they made a third game,
Where you have a squad of the outsiders people. The ones who have powers,
And you have to stop another group of people with powers. And the whole world depends on it.
When you smoke a cigar you don't apply the flame directly to the cigar, that chars the cigar and gives a nasty flavor. What you do is you heat the air around the cigar about half an inch away and you turn the cigar so you don't just heat one part of it.
+King J. Grim
What was the side plot that was so fascinating for you ? I played through the game twice now and i noticed a ton of easter eggs and shit, but i cant pinpoint what you were meaning with that subplot. But great review anyway.
I hope they use some of the places in the dlcs also, so that this you dont see the change problem is a little bit better.
Hey man, nice vid. You deserve more subs. Salutations from Spain!
!Hola companero! Mucho Gracias. Something like that...THANK YOU!
muchas gracias* ^^ hope to see you soon with another review or "in the mind of:" XD
I also love the idea that if they closed the windows the game would've ended there 😂
One last thing the 4th missions are the fucking same, you go through 3 areas to get to a genius' house where they create new technology.
Should we gather for Whiskey and Cigars tonight?
King J. Grim glad to hear it. looking forward to playing the game soon
Let's go for platinum in the future!
King J. Grim Depends on the rating system you prefer :P
Speaking of which, I edited my comment just before you responded. Any comments on that rating-related stuff?
Fabelaz Nyan it would be nice with something more original than the the regular #/10 system. But I'll see if I can figure something out on that front
Wow man i recently found your channel, i really love it. I'm in love with dishonored and dishonored 2 and finished both 6 and 4 times respectively. I was wondering what side quest you kept referring to? The one that continued the first game?
Hi there, glad you enjoy my content!
Not really a quest, but I was talking about the heart.
King J. Grim Oh, yeah i really enjoyed that as well. Keep up the good work, would love to see you keep growing!
i really like this guy hopefully the channel grows well in the future
And I really like this comment, and hope that I will see more like it in the future!
ayyy, it's the man himself, keep up the good work !!
Legion That's the plan! And just for you: New video on Sunday!
King J. Grim that's great, i'm looking forward to seeing it !!
Dude you make the best videos. Also nice review convinced me to take a look at it and i will most likely get it when it is on sale
Thank you. And yes, highly recommend it if you enjoy stealth games
Yeah, that's understandable. I found your channel today, and I'm glad I did. I hope you continue to grow!
Thanks, means a lot!
so should we gather for whiskey and cigars tonight?
