Why are there locks on the lockers? I know people don't want their stuff stolen. But would having to unlock a lock slow down the response time to an emergency situation?
I’m a firefighter in my own town, I’ve wanted to join the air force for a while ! As soon as the okay is given I plan to do firefighting in the air force (: awesome video!
This is an amazing video, I love this so much. Thank you for such a quality video of what it's like fire fighting im the military. Respect! Thank you!!
thank you for your service both military and fire fighting!!. I thinking about joining the air force but the recruiter keep saying the job is pretty much for civilians and if i may ask a somewhat personal question. when you took the asvab what was your score? and how long did you have to wait for the fire fighting to be open?
I'm going to MEPS in about 2 weeks, REALLY want Fire Protection. Is it hard to get or did you have to wait a long time? Great videos by the way, looking forward to more!
Awesome video! What's the little grey truck parked n the center of your station? Also, Do you guys have a crew on duty for each type of unit (Crash, Engine, Tanker, Rescue) 24/7?
This is one of the jobs I plan on having in my T3 if I join the USAF, really think ill enjoy it for 4 years. Its also something I can transfer to civilian life and get good benefits.
Shout out from Escatawpa Fire Dept in Mississippi AND a soon to be military firefighter. Great vid! First one of yours I’ve seen, but you have a new subscriber and follower. Stay safe bro! PS. Hopefully nobody left you any surprises while you were “floating” bunk rooms. Been there, flipped that mattress lol 😂.
Gonna go in to this. Looks like a nice station are most of them like that? What base is that. How many calls on your busiest day? Are you able to do extra school work beyond the paperwork needing to be done each day? How often does someone in fire suppression get deployed, whats the average length?
Was fire protection your number one choice on your dream sheet? Cause I've been binge watching your vids and you've inspired me to put fire protection as my number one choice. Hopefully I get it.
Hey bro so what does your work schedule look like? I know you went in at 6am and got off at 7am the next day. Do you go back to work the next day at 6am?
I’m not in it I’m about to go into high school in 2 years but I would say get in a decent shape, you don’t have to be like the most fit person ever but get a decent shape.
Just now stumbled across this video. I'm an EMT student with hopes to become a firefighter. I love all things firefighting. Thank you for your service. Also I was wondering if you are one rig every shift or do you rotate from rig (truck) to rig?
I see you work 24 hour shifts. So does this mean you work every other day or what is your work schedule like? How many days per week and which days do you work?
I look up to you bro. Airforce firefighting is what I wanna do. I have 2 questions... 1. When you go in after the boot camp when do you actually start your firefighting job? Because I’m sure you can’t jump right into it. I would think you’d have to do emt and all that other hazard testing and the physical test first So what would you be getting paid for? What would you be doing? Cause I’m thinking would I be getting paid to train for emt even tho that’s not a job cuz I’d only be learning everything first? And number 2. How do you advance in rank in the fire house I’m pretty sure your above a 3 by now I wanna know what you had to do to rank up. I’d appreciate if you’d answer me I got a lot of questions but these are most important to me.
Great to see a fellow Texan fire fighting. Do you have plans to be a fire fighter once you leave the military? What part of texas? Houston native here. Striving to make HFD better
Do you have any advice for someone who is interested in fire protection in the Air Force? I’m 28 years old so I know my time is dwindling. I have previous fire training and I’m an EMT. Do you think that training would be beneficial if I do decide to go this route?
Hey this came up in my feed and ive seen some vids on USAF fire stations and havent seen any ladder trucks So im curious on why they dont use ladder trucks? And was it hard getting into firefighting in the USAF? Cause thats what i wanna do when i join
Randy, do you know the chiefs well where your stationed at? are all of you guys there sort of like close buddies? I know you go to different places so Im just curious.
Great video, how does the air force ranking system compare to the regular fire fighting ranks? When your on the scene of a fire would a firefighter with more military experience outrank someone with more firefighting experience?
Central PA Spotter so we have our military rank and our firefighter rank. You distinguished the two. However, at a scene a firefighter with the higher level of firefighter and is lower in military rank would outrank the high military rank at the fire scene.
pretty nice station, all the trucks look really nice, but to be honest, the tender is my favorite lol. its a big ole girl, how many gallons does it hold? im a firefighter myself so im pretty interested in your trucks and stuff lol
Thanks buddy. And thank you for your service to the United states and to your community, and damn that's a big Ole girl lol. There's a department about 40 minutes from mine in the next county that has 4, 4000 gallon tankers. They are the only department that gets called for tanker mutual aid lol. That's 16,000 gallons, that literally a whole water tower on the way
how much training did you have to go through other than basic, and how long was it? im interested in doing exactly what you do but i hate to go through all the firefighting training again.
James Cadwallader I️ went to tech school which was the DoD Fire Academy. It takes roughly about 4 months depending on if you pass everything. You’ll have to go through all the school even if you were a civilian fire fighter if you plan on doing active duty.
As a military firefighter, what would you say is your average weekly call volume. I'd assume it's fairly low, due to the base occupants being above average health. Just a curious fellow firefighter from louisiana.
MIdknight _ nice!!! We average about 10-20 calls a week. As you know being a firefighter some days are just busier than others. Might not have any calls one day and 8 the next.
So I’m going to go in as a second LT after college, would I be put as administrative/flight commander or actual firefighting? Also I can live off base correct ? Hoping these work hours are decent
Jeffrey J. Unfortunately you cannot a firefighter, whether operations personnel or admin. We don’t have an officer position in the fire department, only enlisted. Only officer that can wear the fire badge is our Squadron Commander mostly likely a Lt Col and he’s our Fire Marshall
What camera system or level do you use. As a part of the Military Police Service, we would love to begin an addition of the US ArmyMilitary Police service.
So do firefighters have there own hotel room until it’s there turn for a shift then they come to the station to sleep or do they just live in the station(I’m not aware of how anything works my freind is going to the marines to become a firefighter so I was just wondering)
You should come to the Valley, and Vlog yourself eating some tacos or at whata burger bro just show people that it's awesome here in the valley 👌 Anyways great video Randy 💪
Question fire fighter in the military would it help me later on join a local fire department? I want to be a fire fighter, join the Military so I'm hype I found out I can make both true. Will the military help me get the EMT certificate and all or how?
Not a tank probie it’s a cylinder but cool vid man. They need to teach you all more about the fire service. Stay safe brother TYFYS and the turrets is actually called deck gun buddy
TheMostEpic nothing to crazy. Just be in physical shape and mentally strong minded and you can get through basic training and this firefighting tech school in a breeze.
Can someone answer me this question, if you’re a firefighter in the military do you get both a military salary and firefighter salary? Or do you just get paid for being a firefighter
Randy Cantu EMR is first now cuz people were getting to the end and than reclassing towards the end. But pretty much yeah block 1 fire block 2 fire than hazmat and arf . They have been making changes like hazmat is all the same material covered but it’s done in 5 days now and 4 test in 5 days.

Thank you for being basically the only video on UA-cam giving insight on AF fire fighting. It's the job I'm shooting for.
Jose Palma hopefully you'll get it brotha!!
thank you and hopefully you get it! It's a great career.

Great video ! I wanted to know what you thought about going the reserve route and what did the work schedule look like when you were in ???
Awesome video! What's the little grey truck parked n the center of your station? Also, Do you guys have a crew on duty for each type of unit (Crash, Engine, Tanker, Rescue) 24/7?
Corde1129 that’s our Commanders Command Vehicle he drives around base. It stays at the fire house over the weekend. Yes we operate 24/7.
This is one of the jobs I plan on having in my T3 if I join the USAF, really think ill enjoy it for 4 years. Its also something I can transfer to civilian life and get good benefits.

Randy Cantu so cool. And thank you, I can’t wait to fulfill my childhood dream.
I see you work 24 hour shifts. So does this mean you work every other day or what is your work schedule like? How many days per week and which days do you work?

So how often do you fight with fire? Once a year???
What’s the difference between firefighting local & firefighting in the Air Force? I’m tried to decide which one is for me...
also, what do you do when you’re not working your shift?
Do I stand a high chance of been employed if I do my basic fire fighting as well as occupational health and safety?
so how many points do you need to be a firefighter in the military?
How often do you get emergency calls in the station? Are they mostly medical or of the sort?
How many calls do they run? And is it only for military fire people? Or for the district

My guess on how much water the tanker/tender (don't know if you call it tender or tanker) holds is 3000 gallons.
